The Augustus Lutheran Church

The Borough was settled in 1717 and formally incorporated in 1896. The Augustus Lutheran Church, the oldest unchanged Lutheran Church building in continuous use in the United States, is located in the Borough, as is the homestead of Frederick Muhlenberg, signer of the Bill of Rights and first Speaker of the United States House of Representatives. Approximately 3,200 people call Trappe Borough home. The Borough is located in central Montgomery County, about a one-hour drive from Center City, Philadelphia. The Borough’s main thoroughfare, West Main Street, boasts many retail and specialty shops... reminiscent of the quaint country villages that once dotted the Pennsylvania landscape.

Information

The Borough of Collegeville is located in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania at the intersection of the Ridge Pike, the Germantown Pike, and Rt. 29. The Borough is 1.6 square miles in size and has a population of approximately 4,600 residents with about 1,300 more when Ursinus College is in session. As a result of its historic role as a commercial crossroad, and its location between the Perkiomen Valley and the Rt. 422 Expressway, the Borough of Collegeville has become the town center of a region which has taken its name. The Borough consists of: a historic commercial Main Street, a commercial Main Street, the Ursinus College campus, and a mix of residential neighborhoods. The Borough of Collegeville is a great place to live, work, and play. We are a close-knit community, and take great pride in our neighborhoods, streets, and parks. Our merchants provide many of the goods and services for the region and yet we are close to the premium shopping malls in King of Prussia and Plymouth Meeting. We are home to Ursinus College, a highly regarded Liberal Arts college, and next door to the Wyeth World Headquarters and many other corporate employers and providers.

The Historic Commercial Main Street The Ridge Pike as it passes through the Borough is called Main Street. Main Street is the location of the original town, literally, because until the mid 20th century, the Main Street was surrounded almost exclusively by farms. Main Street is still the location of many of the merchants and businesses in the Borough as well as the Ursinus College campus. Many of the businesses retain their original building facades which range in style from the Victorian to the 1940â&#x20AC;&#x2122;s. Ursinus College maintains several 18th and 19th century farmhouses including Clamer Hall, Fetteroff House, and the Andrew Todd house, now known as Isenberg Hall. There are also many large homes on Main Street, some of which served as boarding houses for the Pennsylvania Female College, and after the railroad was built, summer vacationers. They are now a mix of private homes and businesses with the exception of the houses of the Residential Village â&#x20AC;&#x201D; the restored victorian homes located directly across from the Ursinus College campus and used by the college as off campus housing. Main Street businesses are a mixture of traditional merchants, village commercial, professional offices, and restaurants. Current and planned zoning for this part of the Borough provides continued commercial opportunities via the Commercial Office, General Commercial, Main Street Commercial, and Residential Office zoning. In addition, a Main Street revitalization project is underway to preserve and protect its character.

The Collegeville Police Department (CPD) is located in the Borough of Collegeville and serves the residents of the Borough. They also serve the Ursinus College Campus - located in the Borough - and provide assistance to departments in local municipalities. Those departments in turn provide assistance to the CPD. CPD officerâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s duties include patrolling, enforcing vehicle laws, responding to calls and complaints, investigating crimes, and making arrests. The CPD has 8 full-time officers. The Collegeville Police Department is located at 491 East Main Street in the Collegeville Borough Municipal building.

Fire and rescue services are provided to the Borough by the Collegeville Fire Company. The Collegeville Fire Company is an all-volunteer fire and rescue service which operates from Station 34, located in the Borough at 29 E. Fifth Avenue. The location is directly across Fifth Avenue from the Collegeville Borough Municipal Building. Station 34 can be found quickly on the Community Map. The Collegeville Fire Company serves the Borough of Collegeville and a portion of Upper Providence Township. The Company also provides mutual aid to other Fire Companies in the Collegeville Region.

Exelon Nuclear Power Station The Exelon Nuclear Power Plant, located in Limerick Township, tests the facilityâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s emergency sirens at 2:00 p.m. on the first Monday of each month.
