SADHAK

Norway's Sadhak is a one man project created by Andreas Hagen (vocals, guitars, bass, drums) from High Priest of Saturn. The selftitled demo is available as limited edition cassette (100 copies) through Shadow Kingdom Records, and digital download as well. With this demo Andreas Hagen is pushing is conception of doom metal into more obscure territories. It features two dense compositions filled with dark crunch atmospheres and echoing melodies built on repetitive riffs. These two tracks crawl along for their expansive duration (around nine minutes each), but don’t get boring for a second. They flow so naturally that the long duration doesn’t make a difference. Opening track, "On The Arrival Of Man", is a glint of dark beauty with its heavy, lightless, and deperessive march of sadness. The mood remains eerie when the next song, "The Perfection of Wisdom" comes into play, though it's a bit faster than the previous one. With these two tracks Andreas Hagen presents us a good piece of depressive music that absolutely takes your breath away with its genuine, emotional depth, and irrepressible sadness.
