CYHYRAETH

Cyhyraeth ia a Dallasbased and female fronted melodic thrash metal outfit. Their first album, Servant To The Fire, which was released on November 2014, is a pretty decent debut. Their sound is clearly thrashy, with some metalcore elements sticking with it. Even if sometimes it is not so extreme and progressive as I would have liked, and only barely technical sounding, this music is proficient and accomplished in some way. The band manages to incorporate properly some Metallicastyle arpeggio, DevilDriver riffage and pseudodeath metal rhythms throughout. All of these elements are not overplayed and are used when appropriate to add versatility to a song’s composition without sacrificing heaviness. Some tracks give also Jessica McCain the opportunity to sing with a pretty good range of variety. Clean vocals are used to create contrast with her screamed vocals and she definitely steps up to the plate. All in all, Servant To The Fire is a good debut album, where simple songs’ riffs, groove and melody make it easy to follow. CYHYRAETH
