Mandatory is a melodic deaththrash metal band hailing from Linz ( A u s t r i a ) . By listening to each track on this album, many vibes you have loved in the melodic deaththrash trademark is released in this one. Mandatory has something for everyone with songs that are well put together enough to keep your ears delighted. In addition, they grab your attention with an underlined progressive metal approach showed mostly in the guitar parts. The looseness of the solos has a very delightful quality that makes the record a fun and easy listen despite the aggression of many of the tracks. Songs are typically built around this nonstop interplay between melody and aggressiveness, that manages to carry into a well structured chorus. Overall, Catharsis is a good album, I wouldn't call it original, groundbreaking or anything but if you like melodic, cheesy aggression, then you'll like this. MANDATORY Catharsis 2014
