ALGEBRA

After 2012’s Polymorph, their selfreleased debut album, Swiss nostalgic 80's thrash metallers Algebra have put out their sophomore fulllength album, Feed The Ego, under Unspeakable Axe Records. Despite the abscence of any sort of novelty in their sound, with many classical thrash metal déjà vu (Slayer, Testament and Exodus) easily recognized throughout, there's still enough thrashy entertainment here to keep high the interest. The guitars are excellently played alongside equally tight drumming through a pounding midtempo pace, and all these vibes are delivered here at a maximal strength. The solos are intricate and are kept interesting by combining faster fretwork with more melodic lines. Unfortunately, vocalist lacks of a strong, melodic and dynamic voice and wrote vocal lines which sometimes made the brilliant riffs sound worse. The production is excellent and presents the band in their best light without polishing off too many of the rough edges. In conclusion, Feed The Ego turns out as a good old school thrash album, which still manages to stay fast, catchy and interesting.
