In the glass workshop of the Faculty of Chemistry of the Complutense University, Emilio Elvira lists the companions who endure in the trade as if he were pressing the knob of a dropper that is consumed. The thriving glass art scene in Florida (USA) adds another member to its ranks when the Imagine Museum officially opens in the center of St. Petersburg. Dedicated to the Studio Glass movement, the museum is a creation of benefactor Trish Duggan. The art collector had been interested in opening a museum for some time, but it was not until he took glass foundry lessons from Clearwater artist Marlene Rose that he decided what the museum should contain. Rose introduced him to Corey Hampson, president and owner of the Detroit Habatat gallery, the oldest and largest gallery in the United States dedicated to glass art. Hampson selected the Imagine Museum collection, which is an exhaustive survey of the history of Studio Glass. And that's what sets it apart from other glass collections in the area. It was started in the early 1960s by Harvey Littleton and Dominick Labino, who took the ceramic as an example and made an oven to act individually. Duggan's favorite color, a bright blue sky. The three-story building measures 35,000 square feet, with the museum's exhibition on the first floor. The artist Sam Brewster recorded an elaborate scene in a set of windows and doors of the museum that includes images of marine life, as well as a meeting of two hands, clearly a nod to The Creation of Adam by Michelangelo. Both artists have pieces in the collection and Boux also has items for sale in the gift shop. In the future, the museum will exhibit international glass, because it would be shortsighted not to include these influences in the genre.
