CLIFFORD RAINEY • Create a record. A few days ago I received the call from Destilerías Bernal, S.L., of Murcia, to ask me for information about a glassmaker that could make them some 2,000 or 3,000 bottles with artisanal elaboration to pack their products. I asked them if they had contacted the Santa Lucía Glass Museum, in Cartagena, because, by proximity, it would seem the right place to carry out the assignment and they informed me that they were waiting for their response to the proposal. I also got in touch with Pere Ignasi, the great master glassmaker located in Campanet (Mallorca) to see if his son Gabi, who is newcomer from the United Kingdom, could be interested in the realization of this project and I gave him the phone number and the data of the distillery so that the characteristics of the work were informed: budget, technical specifications, etc.

But it would not hurt to develop a kind of centralized registry of which all would be part, or the vast majority of glassmakers and the techniques they use to make their pieces.

Another management derived from the need to be known and for which we have long insisted on its realization is the organization of an annual exhibition exclusively dedicated to the artistesanos of glass.

I think these are topics that are worth reflecting on and, if they are considered important, start taking the necessary steps to put them into practice.

He was born in 1948 in a village in Northern Ireland. Since he was a little boy making wood carvings in his grandfather's carpentry workshop in Belfast, Rainey absorbed the teachings and inspirations that come with living a curious, creative life. After attending several art schools in the United Kingdom, he went on to a prolific career as a sculptor (his works have been compiled in 22 museums and public places in Ireland, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, France, Germany, Saudi Arabia, Canada and the United States), and has taught art and sculpture

Since 2007, Kubelková participates in a variety of exhibitions: the first prize for his work was awarded in two years. And this was followed by further recognition, which included winning the Ludwig Moser Prize (2012) and the Stanislav Libenský Prize (2014).

He was born in 1987 in Strakonice, Czech Republic. Zuzana Kubelková is much more than a glass artist. His talent also covers related fields, such as painting, drawing, jewelery, stained glass and design. And the final works reflect, not only Kubelková's inventiveness, craftsmanship, creativity and skill, but also his constant search for

new avenues of artistic expression. Zuzana Kubelková started her education in glass making in northern Bohemia. After studying at the Higher School of Applied Arts for Glass Manufacturing in Železný Brod, where he graduated in the field of pressed glass (or pattern), he continued his studies at the Ilja Bílek studio at the University of JE

Recently, Kubelková won the first prize in the Young Glass 2017 competition held in Ebeltoft, Denmark. Both curators and art critics have praised her for her daring experimentation. Kubelková clearly enjoys exploring the inherent sense of adventure in the concept of uncertainty, and this manifests itself both in the creative goals and ideas of the artist, and in the varied use of materials that she combines with glass.

They say that the research level of a country can be measured by the number of scientific glass blowers it has. Well, in Spain there are little more than a dozen. "Three here, one at the University of Zaragoza, one at the University of AlcalĂĄ ... Another at the University of Murcia ... Two in Santiago ...". In the glass workshop of the Faculty of Chemistry of the Complutense University, Emilio Elvira lists the companions who endure in the trade as if he were pressing the knob of a dropper that is consumed. And the accounts do not come out. "A couple of years ago another one retired, another one, blowers are an endangered species".

in day to day. "Having a good base allows you to know the nature of the materials and substances with which you work, understand how a distillation is produced, anticipate the reactions that can occur at 400 degrees of temperature or predict the behavior of the glass once it cools" , explains this blower.

Surrounded by oddments, prototypes and borosilicate glass tubes (the material used to make many of the containers and utensils used in the experimental sciences), this man from Madrid relates with the passion of an artisan the avatars of a trade that during decades has shaped the ideas that flowed from the brain of the best researchers. "We do not make specimens or test tubes, scientific glass blowers carry out research prototypes," he says. "We collaborate directly with the researchers and create pieces or devices that they need for their experiments, they pose a problem, some needs and we offer them a solution."

The anecdote illustrates well the lack of generational relief in an office wounded to death. In the good times, the highest scientific body of our country came to have six glass workshops. Today there is none left. "The last one, the one at the Rocasolano Physical Chemistry Institute, was closed two years ago after the only remaining blower had retired." The rest suffered the same fate in the absence of personnel. "Now, we assume from here a good part of the work required by the scientists of this organization."

The fire that emanates from the revolving torch that Elvira handles with dexterity has served to illuminate pieces of the most varied: from glass hearts used in the faculties of Medicine to cells for space satellites. Last year, without going much further, collaborated with researchers at the Center for Biomedical Technology of the Polytechnic University of Madrid in a project that was able to create spider silk artificially, copying the procedure of these arachnids. The results were published in the journal Nature Chemical Biology. Apart from manual skill, knowledge in Chemistry or Physics are fundamental

Elvira, who started in the trade with 15 years thanks to his uncle, also blower, is the last of these professionals who could be trained at the CSIC, back in the year 86. "By then he was the youngest blower. Three decades later, at 50, things have not changed and I'm still one of the youngest. "

As is usual in topics related to science and research, comparisons with other countries in our environment are embarrassing. "The German association of scientific glassblowers, for example, has more than 2,000 professionals working in the most leading centers of the country. Our association, at its highest peak, in the year 90, reached a maximum of 50 blowers" , says Elvira. Thus, while countries such as the United States, France, the United Kingdom and even the Czech Republic have schools, in Spain there is no formal training with which to develop talents. "Our only desire, for many years, is that this job does not disappear, but it is becoming increasingly difficult." The Universidad Complutense de Madrid itself has a

www.amigosmava.org

vacancy glass vacancy seat that is not covered by the lack of qualified candidates. The same happens in other Spanish universities. Clara Lorca, a 31-year old Grenadian trained in Fine Arts, has been developing her pictorial and sculptural work for more than 10 years using techniques based on the experimentation of materials. For the last three months he has been working side by side with Elvira in the Complutense workshop thanks to one of the very few training places that appear every few years in some universities. His crush on the blown glass was the result of chance. "One day I went to a glass conference without having any idea what it was, I discovered that there was a crack, an unknown trade that practically nobody is already engaged in and, curiously, in these times, there was work That's when I started discovering its addictive magic, "he confesses. The addiction to glass is not a metaphor. As Elvira recognizes, most blowers end up turned into a kind of fire junkies after years of work in front of the torch. "People who work with high temperatures develop thermal stress, in this state, our body begins to generate endorphins, as if we were doing sports, so when we finish working we are like spirits," he says with a half smile on his face. "We enjoyed it a lot, that's why we say that the glass is hooked." For the time being, this addiction has served so that the handful of blowers left in our country resist, like Gauls against the Romans, the onslaught of a time - and a Government - that seems to have forgotten that the investigation is our best weapon of future. This is what Elvira claims through a job she performs with the passion of a beginner. Hoping that one day science - and scientific glassblowers - will be in the place they deserve.

The Lafiore artisan glass factory has closed its doors and has joined the already long list of industrial firms that have chosen to liquidate their production in the Balearic Islands. In its Esporles facilities, the store is only kept open to release the product stock during the tourist season, while the ship where its merchandise is made and stored is offered for rent for 10,000 euros per month. Keeping an industry active in Mallorca has become a mission that is increasingly difficult, according to the administrator of this firm, Miguel Tortella. Lafiore has been experiencing difficulties for years, which has led her to close their different stores (one of them was at the Palma airport) to declare bankruptcy in early 2017. At the end of that year it was decided to terminate its production of glass and lay off the workforce, and at this time it only keeps the store located in the Esporles facilities active. Specifically, a few days ago activity was recovered in this

After more than a decade of mobilizations of neighbors and defenders of historical heritage, the Management of Urbanism of Seville has approved an agreement that allows the urban development of the old Glass Factory of La Trinidad.

The agreement determines that the compensation board will assume the works of consolidation of the buildings of the Glass Factory before its obligatory and free transfer to the Consistory, as well as the works of urbanization of the floors.

The agreement guarantees the protection of properties with heritage value (both the main factory and the three auxiliary buildings), which will become municipal property as well as public facilities. 200 homes will be built on the plot.

"It is a city project that had been blocked for years and now faces the final phase of its processing, so that at the beginning of 2019 the first projects can be executed there," explained Antonio MuĂąoz. The socialists will discuss with the neighbors of the old factory the equipments that will be put into use. The agreement signed establishes that the City Council receives 1,400 square meters.

that lived in the countryside and it may be that nature is hostile to the production of relationships and primitive people. Inquiring into the family past, I discovered that this was normal: there were many stories of violence against women.

In November 2016, the newspaper Il Manifesto (here the link to the newspaper) published an insert on gender violence, 'Il corpo del delto'. An insert to keep (you can still buy it here), because it is full of testimonials and intelligent, deep and important analyzes. The Manifesto has also asked my friend, the glass artist Silvia Levenson, to tell her story and how she has a fundamental influence in her work. I think his testimony is strong and important, linked to an Argentine reality of several decades ago, but basically similar to many Italian situations today. Therefore, I refer here in its entirety to the article published in Il Manifesto. Most of my work as an artist investigates the interpersonal relationships that have the home as a backdrop: a protected universe, but also a minefield. I explore the house as a nest, last refuge or bunker muffled. When I was ten years old I lived in Buenos Aires with my mother, my partner and my sister Bibi. Our life had changed a lot since the separation of mine: from that moment, my sister and I had not had peace, not even one of our rooms: we were sleeping in the living room. One day I was on the sofa bed when I heard adults arguing in their room. At one point my mother complained loudly. I opened the door and saw Omar, his partner, trying to strangle her with the telephone cord.

One of my great uncle who discovered one night that his wife, fed up of being beaten, tried to escape on horseback with her small children. Then he put a gun to her temple and ordered her to leave and never come back. My aunt, now older, still remembers that moment: she never saw her mother again. Today I find it difficult to imagine where a woman could escape in the middle of the Normally disputes began with looks, phrases thrown here and immensity of the Argentine plains there, to degenerate into furious and I wonder if life in those parts is fights. The merit is held by the master glassmaker Alberto Cascón, a Malaga with more than three decades of experience, who has submitted these windows of almost a century of history to an important restoration to repair the damages they had suffered in the earthquake of January 25, 2016 After crossing the Mediterranean to spend three months in the workshop, the windows are already back to fill with beauty the entrance to the consistorial building. "I have only put in value what you already had," says Cascón humble in statements to MELILLA TODAY, shortly after completing the commission of the Autonomous City. However, he admits that the stained-glass windows of the Assembly Palace have given him a lot of work in recent weeks due to the great deterioration they had before, even from the earthquake.

So much so that the windows suffered a serious risk of detachment. Most likely, the master glazier points out, is that if they had not been restored soon, one day they would have dawned on the ground. Hence the urgency to act as soon as possible, since the metal structure that holds the glass was completely broken. In spite of everything, "it has arrived on time" and the window, in addition to being saved, has also come to life thanks to an intense museum restoration in which Alberto Cascón has applied a technique invented by him to give it greater protection and resistance. A technique endorsed by the CSIC As explained, this system, endorsed by the CSIC, is based on giving the window an isothermal glazing protection, which allows to protect it from the outside with a laminated safety glass that serves as a shield against moisture, saltpeter, changes in temperature and pressure and wind. In addition, it also holds the different parts of the window

through a series of points, giving it a greater capacity to absorb ground movements or other impacts, among other incidents. The final result is that the stained glass windows are now "almost protected in an urn". In addition to this important step forward, the master Cascón, Viarca company, has also repaired the various damages that have accumulated the melillense stained glass over time and even previous repairs, such as the one made two decades ago to change the shields for the Historical Memory, which was marked by "certain gaps" in the work carried out. The result of the intense restoration that has taken place now is in sight of all in the hall of the Palace of the Assembly, where the three historic stained glass windows of the middle of the last century shine. Three jewels of the prestigious Maumejean House that, near a century old, live a second youth in Melilla.

This technique should have been put into use shortly after the invention of blown glass and was probably already used frequently in the second third of the first century AD. C. It was used mainly commercially to manufacture in series bottles of square, hexagonal or polygonal shape; also bowls and containers of all kinds with special decorations such as glasses with representations of human heads or with decorations of bulbs, grapes, or ribs for example. To achieve an object by means of this technique, the mass of glass was introduced into the mold which could also be one piece in the simplest or several objects when the object was more complex. The thriving glass art scene in Florida (USA) adds another member to its ranks when the Imagine Museum officially opens in the center of St. Petersburg. Dedicated to the Studio Glass movement, the museum is a creation of benefactor Trish Duggan. The art collector had been interested in opening a museum for some time, but it was not until he took glass foundry lessons from Clearwater artist Marlene Rose that he decided what the museum should contain. Rose introduced him to Corey Hampson, president and owner of the Detroit Habatat gallery, the oldest and largest gallery in the United States dedicated to glass art. Hampson selected the Imagine Museum collection, which is an exhaustive survey of the history of Studio Glass. And that's what sets it apart from other glass collections in the area. "What is unique about this museum is that it's only from the 1960s until now, and it's just the American movement," said Jane Buckman, the museum's deputy director. "It's fun to have a little focus because we have to dig into something truly American." Studio Glass is a fairly recent movement in the field of glass art.

It was started in the early 1960s by Harvey Littleton and Dominick Labino, who took the ceramic as an example and made an oven to act individually. They wanted the ability to create glass in a personal study, rather than in large factories, as was the norm. The pieces of both artists are on display, appropriately placed in the first of several galleries. The museum guides through the history of the movement in America, showing the developments. The collection includes works of the genre superstars. There are early pieces, surprisingly made by Dale Chihuly, the work of William Morris that seems to have been unearthed from an archaeological dig, and the Toots Zynsky threads cups. There are examples of blown glass, molten glass and torch, exceptional examples of the latter being the chair and Brent Kee Young sphere encapsulated in a square. Duggan called the local glass artists to help with the museum. St Petersburg artist Chuck Boux explored the location at 1901 Central Ave., which had previously been a bank, a nightclub and, most recently, the Imagine Charter School. The name got stuck, and the building was painted with

www.amigosmava.org

Duggan's favorite color, a bright blue sky. The three-story building measures 35,000 square feet, with the museum's exhibition on the first floor. The artist Sam Brewster recorded an elaborate scene in a set of windows and doors of the museum that includes images of marine life, as well as a meeting of two hands, clearly a nod to The Creation of Adam by Michelangelo. Both artists have pieces in the collection and Boux also has items for sale in the gift shop. In the future, the museum will exhibit international glass, because it would be shortsighted not to include these influences in the genre. There are also plans for a manufacturer's space to hold workshops, but instead of a hot shop where glass blowing occurs, participants will use 3D printers to create molds to melt glass. The museum is committed to the exhibition of emerging artists and that the bay area is a place where the movement can continue to thrive. "We really want this to be the coast of glass," Buckman said. "We have the Duncan McClellan gallery, the Chihuly Collection, the new glass pavilion at the Ringling Museum, and now the Imagine Museum, and what really supports it are glass collectors."

Seven out of ten glass containers are recycled in Spain, where it exceeds by 10 points the European objectives for this matter that has gone from waste to raw material in just two decades and whose history, with images from the EFE photo library, is collected in "20 years recycling glass". Edited by Ecovidrio, the entity responsible for the recycling of glass containers in Spain reviews how the management of this resource has changed since the first glass container was placed in the Madrid neighborhood of Moratalaz in February 1982. Twenty years later more than 150,000 containers are distributed throughout the territory, achieving the complicity of citizens and making glass recycling a successful model. 7 out of 10 glass containers are recycled So much so that, "after twenty years, seven out of

every 10 containers are recycled and the recycling rate is currently 72%", a figure that exceeds the EU's requirements. The book also has a selection of historical photographs from the Graphic Archive of Agencia EFE that accompany a text that has made memory of some of the milestones achieved by this Integrated Waste Management System during these twenty years. So among the photographs you can see Professor Tierno Galván, the "old professor", depositing glass in an igloo being mayor of Madrid, anonymous citizens taking their bottles to these containers, waste separation plants or garbage trucks of the years of the transition. This commitment to the circular economy has resulted in each Spanish recycling in 2017 16.9 kilograms of glass containers, which means an average of 64

containers per inhabitant, according to Ecovidrio the tome. The primatologist Jane Goodall, the designer Agatha Ruiz de la Prada and the chef Ángel León The Minister of Environment, Isabel García Tejerina, has signed one of the chapters of the book in which she recognizes the effort of the entity to make environmental protection "an ally of socioeconomic growth". The primatologist and prize Prince of Asturias, Jane Goodall, the designer Agatha Ruiz de la Prada and the chef Ángel León sign some of the chapters in which they tell their experience with recycling and the circular economy. In the epilogue of the book, the director general of the entity, José Manuel NúñezLagos, has been "proud to celebrate the consolidation of the habit of recycling glass containers in our society", because "recycle today is build tomorrow" , he assured.

Four inventions with glass.

Glass is one of the most used building elements, thanks to its versatility allows the ecological architecture can use it directly or recycling it. We present some inventions of this material: An almost unbreakable glass Japanese researchers created an almost unbreakable material, a very resistant glass. They are waiting to market the technique in the near future. Doing so will mean a durability of the glass never seen. That is to say, it would become an even greener option. It would also expand its applications, since placing that glass would be synonymous with building a wall. More so, in fact, because its resistance would surpass that of a conventional wall. In addition, it would have many other uses, and in principle they see future as a hardener of windshield glass. Or, for example, the screens of mobile devices such as digital tablets or smartphones. Beyond the world of electronics, if costs become cheaper, they can have a great future as construction material. The substance that achieves the miracle is alumina, an aluminum oxide, mixed with silicon dioxide. His great achievement has been to make it come true, after countless failed attempts. For these researchers from the University of Tokyo there were no problems of adhesions to the walls of the containers when synthesizing the chemical components in the air.

Improve the performance of solar panels

which would increase its efficiency up to 3 percent.

Improving the performance of solar cells is one of the great challenges that science does not abandon. Although this time everything came by chance, a team of American scientists has created a new type of glass that could have a thousand and one uses, including improving the efficiency of solar panels.

Against heat and radiation

They started doing optical experiments with glass steam and they managed to create this revolutionary glass. It was formed after superimposing several thin layers of vapor of organic molecules. With the result of a promising material that could improve the performance of electronic devices, LED light emitting diodes and the aforementioned solar cells. Another invention has been the result of the joint work of the company Tecnalia and the University of Cantabria in the Sunglass project, where they have developed a new glass designed to increase the efficiency of photovoltaic systems.

Its thickness is due to the strategic placement in its interior of polyvinyl butyral (PVB) and polyethylene terephthalate (PET) block radiation and solar heat without losing luminosity. By intercalating these compounds (the butyral sheets wrap a film) it is possible to filter part of the infrared without preventing the transmission of light. Its application in facades that are completely glass can mean a saving in very important air conditioning, as interesting economically as environmentally friendly. It is obvious, on the other hand, that in cold places its application would not be convenient. Recycled glass tiles Recycled glass is a material increasingly used in construction. In general, it is used after repeated recycling for other uses that require a raw material in better condition. When it is considered not suitable for another type of reuse, the glass admits a very interesting processing to manufacture tiles or another type of coating.

Its objective is to promote renewable energy in the construction sector. Its goal is to exceed 15 percent of the current average performance of current Of course, the glass should be of local origin to be considered truly panels. eco-friendly. Its implementation in the glass The company Dexterra has that covers the solar panels would achieve a greater capacity developed this procedure with the use of a patented cement binder, to absorb high frequency radiation. In this way, it would be subjecting the result to a final issued at more effective ranges, polish that gives it its characteristic brightness.

The Councilor for the Promotion of the Community of Castilla-La Mancha, Agustina García Élez, announced that the next Council of Government will approve the tender for the Training Center for Crafts and Glass in Talavera de la Reina, which it will be located in the old facilities of the 'Padre Juan de Mariana' Institute, and where the Employment Office will also be located. García Élez, who has visited the craft workshop 'Alberto Acosta Ceramista', in Velada (Toledo), recalled that this was "a commitment" of the regional government, detailing that the adequacy work will be bid with an amount of 1.6 million euros, as reported by the Board in a press release. The counselor said that this craft center "is going to be a regional and national reference in ceramics, glass and other handicrafts", in the same way that will be addressed "with the perspective of working and putting together the offer and the demand and provide a means for professionals who are in the sector and those who want to enter do so through certificates and professional courses, without forgetting the line of research and development of current and new materials. "

Agustina García Élez has stated that this center "could not be anywhere else than here, in Talavera de la Reina". Predictably, the work will last for nine months, so the work could be completed by the last month of this 2018, in the absence of providing these new spaces for the sale and exhibition of this raw material that "is going to help many craftsmen from the Talavera region, the province and all of Castilla-La Mancha. In the same way, the counselor said that "they will always find the regional government to be able to carry out their work and do it jointly, as well as for the defense of a product, a tradition and as an expectation of the future to continue betting on new ways and in the adaptation of the subject ". The owner of Development also recalled the support of the regional government in the use of ceramic material. Thus, he said that in the announcement of the awards Urban Integral Regeneration Areas (ARUI) were awarded some awards made in ceramics, as well as advanced that in the act of World Water Day, which is celebrated on March 22 and which Organized by the Government through the Ministry of Development, ceramic will also

DEGREE OF COMPUTING Regarding the strategic map of degrees from the University of Castilla-La Mancha (UCLM), the counselor has responded to the media that "what the university and the rector should do is sit down with the government, because it is the one who has to authorize and who finances a large part of the projects ". "We have been very clear and we have not moved or we are going to move from our position and we are going to defend the Degree in Information Technology for Talavera, but with no other name or any other variant that we want to place," he continued. The Minister of Development has stated that "Computer Engineering is not the same as a degree or Master of Information Technology for Well -being". "Computing is Computing and so it was contemplated in the 2010 program and the only thing we are doing is asking the UCLM and other political leaders to row at the same address. In Talavera there is a cry that the Degree in Information Technology is a reality, "he concluded.

The MVRDV architecture studio presents an iconic store that stands out and differs from the rest: Crystal Houses. Crystal Houses breaks with the growing globalization of the retail trade that has led to the homogenization of the commercial streets offering a showcase surface that is necessary in the current stores while maintaining its architectural character and its individuality. The result is an iconic store that stands out and differs from the rest. The MVRDV Crystal Houses saw the light thanks to Warenar; a limited company focused on investment of luxury goods in Amsterdam. Warenar invested in properties located on PC Hooftstraat street and has tenants such as Chanel, Hermès and Ermenegildo Zegna among others. The assignment was to design a flagship store that combined both the Dutch heritage and the international architecture of the street; the first and only commercial street of luxury brands in Amsterdam, which was once a residential area. The MVRDV project makes a reinterpretation of the original buildings through glass. The main facade, almost entirely made of glass, emulates the original design of the building, from the brick moldings to the details of the windows.

elements, sonorous pieces and Murano glass candelabras, are a reflection of the last 10 years of production of this creator that has been exhibited in the British Tate Gallery or the Venice Biennial. The work in lights of neon gas has a relation with the history of the contemporary art as it is possible to be appreciated in the work of Nauman or Dan Flavin, mixing the technology with the ephemeral thing to obtain a very particular result. "This relationship with the extinction of gas is important in Cerith's work," adds Juan Gaitán. Wyn Evans launches a cognitive challenge that challenges the perception of space itself, creating a constant dialogue between science, art and philosophy. "Here space is transformed into time," says one of the works that can be seen from the street. The message of Evans is not caught in the walls of the Tamayo, as an echo floods other spaces and evokes the piece by Nicolas Jaar: "Space is only noise if you can see it".

The bathroom line includes bachas, guards, mosaics and soap dishes. For the garden, the proposals are: tables, nice tutors, pot holders, mobiles and drinkers for birds. The products for the kitchen are dreamed: crockery, fountains, mates, cups, bottles and stamped cups. And as for home decoration, it proposes ornamental pieces, large windows and mosaics. All production with the possibility of cocreation with the client The transformation process For transmute glass is working at very high temperatures, the ovens reach up to 800 degrees, so in summer both the family and the neighbors of Dai warmly show their appreciation. "I buy the large glass plates and cut them in the workshop, then they are painted according to the chosen design and molded in the ovens. That's the vitrofusión: the fusion of the glass to which it is shaped in a mold ", defines Dai. "Glass is a noble material, but it has its secrets. You do not learn to manipulate like that. For it to perform its magic, it involves a lot of study, a lot of practice. Its not that easy. At the beginning everything was breaking! ", She laughs. "And one fine day, it came out! The bacha was not broken. I could not believe it! At the same time there are sometimes setbacks, glass can have 'marks', manufacturing defects, which when you start to treat it, manipulate it, emerge, come to light, "he continues. "Glass has life. If the glass is corroded from before or was in the sun, or had a blow, or in the oven to make the iron there was an error, when you wait, everything comes out. If the glass is old, you realize. With glass at high temperatures, the molecules move. In the crystal, the molecules are even, in the glass they are uneven. When it's hot they start to move and look for comfort. And all that you have to keep in mind when you work with glass. " Subsequently there is a cooling process before you can open the oven to remove the pieces, which also demands experience and extreme care, as the piece can break. In winter this process is longer. "Each order is a challenge. And for people to trust me to make their space special, their house, for me it's great. Its beautiful. In addition, people are becoming more and more involved with design, with art, and being able to implement it in their home. Santa Fe has that move with art, "he concludes.

One goes to the restaurant of a great chef, usually with Michelin stars behind him and maybe he wonders where that wonderful crockery has come from in which he is presented with delights.

Behind the dishes of Diverxo, El Celler Can Roca or pieces chosen by Paco Pérez and Quique Dacosta, to name but a few, there is a small workshop of designers from Barcelona, Luesma & Vega.

No creativity seems to be a brake on these artists at the table, although there is one that has given them more work than others: for example, Diverxo plates, which are very large and thin and that gave them, at first, technical problems with the system of molds to print the texture.

Once the design is decided, it is passed to the furnace and the process may go on wheels or it may be necessary to repeat: "I remember a piece, a kind of shell, of which we made about 12 previous tests before having the final one. Or one for Albert Adrià, for a Peruvian tapa. We made about 8 or 9. The advantage of our technique is that we use an open mold system, which allows changing the silhouette, size or even color. The changes are not something traumatic, you do not have to produce molds again, "he adds. After the oven, the piece would go to dry, finished and would be ready to go to the restaurant. In a month, more or less, they can produce about 200 or 300 pieces. What are the most expensive pieces you have made?
