In the present edition of the Feria de Artesanía of the Community of Madrid it seems that a certain disparity of criteria has arisen in relation to what is or is not crafts and that certain products must or should not participate in the Fair.

Born in the old town of Maastricht in the Netherlands in 1957, Peter developed an interest in fashion, interior decoration, architecture and design from an early age. It was not until his years at the Art Academy of his hometown that he developed a deep interest in three-dimensional art. While studying, he found love for light and form, creating sculptures of light. His work was published in several design books and he would probably still make these objects and light installations if he did not go through a glassblowing

workshop with Andries Copier and Willem and Bernard Heesen at the Jan van Eyck Academy in his hometown. Hypnotized by the bright light of the hot glass at the end of a torch, he not only decided to start investigating the possibilities of blown glass for his objects, but he also did a postgraduate degree at the Jan van Eyck Institute. Starting in 1987, he tried to learn as much as possible about glass blowing, following the workshops at The Oude Horn in Leerdam, the studio of Willem Heesen and

being assistant to Bernard Heesen. The series of sculptures known as Icebergs and Paraphernalia became an internationally acclaimed hit. In the book of the same name, the British glass expert Dan Klein called the sculptor Peter Bremers, to his surprise, a landscape artist. His fascination with ice and the way he transfers light made him undertake more trips to the polar regions, resulting in a vast body of work in constant expansion that shows the infinite source of nature inspiration for the artist.

Emerging artists. Fujikake Sachi. Fujikake Sachi was born in 1985 and creates conceptual blown glass sculptures that capture the delicate remnants of light and amplitude that define glass as intrinsically unique in relation to other media. To inculcate the softness features in the hard glass material, Fujikake considers it a challenge and his own reason for creation. Conceived by an ingenious and original new way of glass warp in a hole of glory, Fujikake is rapidly gaining followers within the circles of glass, and although still young, has been selected by the Alexander Tutsek Foundation in Germany, the Institute of Crafts Kanazawa Udatsuyama and the Koganezaki. Crystal Park. He has had several exhibitions in galleries and museums, including the Yufuku Gallery and the Ebeltoft Glasmuseet.

He has won a gold medal in the recent Toyama International Glass Exhibition.

The Royal Factory and Bavaria.

December 2018

The Real Fábrica de Crystals of La Granja (Segovia) has carried out the last weeks an exceptional commission, the reproduction of an old glass cross, originally from an old glass factory in the region of Bavaria (Germany). The manufacture of this replica represents for the Royal Glass Factory the rebirth of the old relations that existed since the 18th century with the Bavarian glass factories of the wooded areas, west of the city of Regensburg, in the center of Bavaria. According to the original documentation, several Bavarian glassmakers, experts in different techniques, were hired in 1750 to work in the Royal Factory of Crystals of the Farm, standing out among them the teacher Juan Eder and his family. Before settling in La Granja, this ancient series of glassmakers had contributed to the establishment of the royal crystal factories in Sweden, Norway and Portugal. After traveling half of Europe, the Eder family and their descendants ended up working in La Granja, staying in this place for several generations. In La Granja the

manufacture of glass has been maintained until today. On the other hand, the production of the Bavarian factories, from which these famous glassmakers came, ceased all activity in 1930, when the last glass factory that still existed was destroyed, leaving a small wooden chapel still standing. The glass cross that now reproduces in La Granja crowned the small bell tower of this chapel, from approximately the year 1905, until 1960, when it was destroyed. In his memory a small sanctuary was installed in this same place, on the side of a road, crowned by this small glass cross, which miraculously has been preserved in the open until the present. For more than a century this fragile glass cross has survived the inclemency of weather, avatars and possible threats. It was in the summer of 2017 when Paloma Pastor, director of the Technological Museum of Glass, visited, together with the local historian and descendant of this ancient saga of glassmakers, Georg Paulus, this same place and suggested that the original cross should be protected from the environment and

www.amigosmava.org

move to a safe place, suggesting that it should be in a museum. Finally they agreed that a replica should be made in the furnaces of the Royal Glass Factory of La Granja so that the original cross could be replaced by the replica. After obtaining the permission of the owner of the cross and getting the necessary funding to develop the project, Georg Paulus and his wife Ruth recently arrived at La Granja with the original cross in their luggage. The replica was developed successfully in the workshops of the Real Fábrica de Cristales by the teacher Diego Rodríguez Blanco and his team. In this way the original glass cross can be kept in a museum and the replica made in La Granja will be installed in the small sanctuary, thus recalling the long tradition of glass in the center of Bavaria. A second replica of this cross was also made to be exhibited at the Technological Museum of Glass, in order to recognize the importance of the link that existed between the Royal Factory of Crystals of La Granja and the old glass factories of the center of Bavaria.

Its members were important citizens who used their groups to reach high positions. We also find clubs created for the purpose of entertaining or attending banquets organized by members. They spread more intensely throughout the first two centuries AD, but we can not forget that the celebration of banquets was a frequent occurrence in funeral, religious and professional schools.

Last November we visited the exhibition "Twelve photographers at the Prado Museum". The Prado Museum and the Friends of the Prado Foundation Foundation present the fruit of the work that twelve contemporary photographers have carried out in close relation with the collections of the institution. Belonging to three different generations and with very diverse ways of understanding and using photography, they have been inspired by the works treasured by the Museum, but also by the aura that surrounds them, the building that shelters them and those that contemplate them.

The lower gallery north of the Villanueva building of the Museo del Prado hosts this exhibition, curated by Francisco Calvo Serraller and which has the support of Japan Tobacco International as a collaborating entity of the Friends of the Prado Foundation. The exhibition presents a collection of twenty-four photographs taken by twelve contemporary photographers who, on the occasion of the celebration of the Bicentennial of the institution, have been invited by the Friends of the Prado Foundation to show their vision of their collections. There are twelve creators who reflect on the Museum through photographic technique, twelve different

This initiative joins those carried out by the Friends of the Prado Museum Foundation in 1991 and 2007, "The Prado Museum seen by 12 contemporary artists" and "Twelve artists in the Prado Museum" respectively, whose objective is to show the a dialogue that, through all eras and styles, current art maintains with the art of the past, but also bring contemporary art closer to the visitor of the Prado and the Prado to the public of contemporary art.

The temper in the quality of glass.

Volume II — Number 116

December 2018

The quality of glass is an important task within the field of tempered glass and the attention for it increases constantly and not only for its enormous impact on costs.

Therefore, either production stops or must be done on weekends, which causes additional costs.

In this article, Herbert Jung, manager of the Business Unit of Lisec, explains what are the keys to carry out a correct tempering of the glass.

• Reduction of production stops. If a glass breaks in the Aeroflat The transport rollers have an impact on all the mentioned heating zone, it can be cleaned problems. So it may be asked: Is only in 15 minutes (without cooling or heating) it possible to temper the glass without these transport rollers? • Low-e Tempered Glass with The answer is yes!. StrainScanner from Arcon and It must be borne in mind that, if Ilis. no transport rollers are used, it is not necessary to replace or clean This unique system measures them, which saves a lot of time in both the residual tension and its alignment. the cold cleaning cycles.

What quality problems can occur when tempering a glass? The most known quality problems for tempered glass are the marks left by the rollers when tempering the glass, the white mist, the distortion of glass and the anisotropy.

How can I solve the mentioned quality problems?

These problems can challenge an organization because to control or reduce them it is necessary to invest money and time in experienced operators and in the knowledge process. Since the location or the analysis of a problem or the correct What solutions use air cushion settings are not so easy to technology and what are the execute, the experience of the advantages? operator is particularly important So far, there is only one solution In addition, the glass companies in the market: Lisec has must perform frequently (for developed and patented the example, quarterly) cold cleaning tempering furnace with air cycles of the tempering furnace cushion technology called to remove deposits and dirt and Aeroflat. A qualified statement about possible anisotropic effects can only be made with information about both parameters. In the area of anisotropy, the Lisec Aeroflat technology is a great leap. The air cushion system makes possible the homogeneous tempering of the glass, which reduces the anisotropy without additional options, without additional processing and without the experience of the operator and tempering.

The Uruguayan deputy MPP (Broad Front), Daniel Placeres, referred to the complaints about Envidrio, the cooperative that he directed until 2015, when he submitted his resignation to take a seat in the Parliament of Uruguay. In declarations to the program Informal breakfast of Teledoce, Placeres maintained that "in Envidrio it is not worked in black" and that there are no workers in unemployment insurance. In this regard, he stressed that "we inaugurated the plant three months ago". Regarding the denunciation of the former employees in the Santo program and Señal de Canal 4, the legislator referred to the ruling of the Court of Appeals in this case, which was favorable to the cooperative and pointed out that it is not the same to do "voluntary work" during a unemployment insurance to have employees "in black". Placeres recalled that in 1999, in the glass factory of Comercio y Rivera, "we occupied 407 days" with "all workers in unemployment insurance." During that time, "the furnace had to be kept on and the factory maintained waiting for a buyer to come".

On the audios in which it is proposed that those who take unemployment insurance must go to work to maintain the venture in the same way, the deputy said that "it was not talking about work in black, but volunteering. maintain the productive unit, "that is, the machinery. Likewise, he maintained that "the one who did not want to go to the voluntary task, did not go". They did not receive any kind of remuneration, it was voluntary. You can receive a per diem for lunch or for the bus, but there was no salary. There is confusion because culturally generations are changing and self-management is a totally cultural change. "We understand that no infringement was incurred since no remuneration was received for being a voluntary task," says the companions' statement.

In the cooperative, "the average retirement is 38 thousand pesos." Do you know that in the society we live in, an asset that earns 38 thousand pesos per month must be a phenomenon? in black and you have to meat ', no, no, you have to be very careful, because the retirees of Envidrio love it and feel part, "said Pleasures.

The sayings of Pleasures arrive in the middle of a controversy over the denunciation that three former employees of Envidrio made to the Santo and Seña program on November 7. The ex-employees claimed that they were forced to work "in black" and that, although he resigned from the board in 2015 to be a legislator, "the one who sent" in Envidrio was still Pleasures. For the MPP, the complaints respond to an attempt to attack former President José Mujica, who sponsored Pleasures in politics. Alejandro Sanchez, deputy of the sector, recalled that his coreligionist resigned from the management of Envidrio before assuming his seat in the House of Representatives and affirmed that Goñi "has a cruelty with the cooperatives, always thinks against the recovered factories". Mujica, meanwhile, said in Cerro Largo that "you have to go to see the factory and talk to the workers and not speak for the press," because "a thing was said that does not resist logic and common sense."

The evolution of technologies is taking over one of the most important branches: education. Something unthinkable a short time ago was to be able to mount a series of simultaneous classes in different geographical points where the teacher was the same. This seemingly paranormal fact is about to happen in England at Imperial College London. The lectures will be offered live for students and can be done remotely, even if the teacher is out of the country. This institution is the first in Europe to use technology related to holograms on a regular basis to organize events with foreign speakers.

who were on stage. The goal was that they could be able to communicate with each other. The operation is based on projecting a live image on a glass screen. This allows you to create an illusion of depth using a background. Teachers will have a high definition monitor to make eye contact with their students. To send their image, the speakers need to use a "studio", in which to film them on a black background while they are illuminated on both sides.

Imperial College plans to use two external studios: one in Los Angeles and the other in Toronto, as well as a portable kit to invite people overseas to Initially, its use will be limited to give talks to their students. These animations were not exactly holograms, but were based on an illusion called "Phantom of Pepper", which uses glass or aluminum foil, combined with special lighting techniques to make objects appear in the air. The images are animated and can be controlled by the teacher. Three projectors are used to generate the images on the stage. The system is designed to be used in a large auditorium. The doctors said they wanted to make it easier for students to absorb the large amount of detail necessary to pass the exams. The Irurtzun fair always puts the focus on children, present and future, with a workshop in which the txikis could make personalized plates.

While the Indian to which the saint is associated has been half-fulfilled, the morning encouraged him to approach the square to lose himself among about thirty stalls, with stops to try some homemade pastas, taste some cheese or honey at the same time it was enjoyed with the good work of artisans, an opportunity also to buy unique gifts for Christmas or for oneself.

To work the glass first had to heat it in a furnace to 1,100 degrees and then shape it by blowing it or with hammers and tongs, adding color with the incorporation of different oxides. Thus, from the hands of this artisan-artist specialized in lamps arose vases, fish or balls.

Another of the fixed acts of the San Martin celebrations, which ended after an intense weekend, is the pastry contest organized by the company Erga-Larreak.

Following this precise score, Marussich has not been seriously hurt in any of the presentations he has done since the premiere of the piece in 2010. "Only small cuts, but nothing important," says the Swiss, who emphasizes that 'Bain brisé' manages to generate a deep catharsis in the audience. A Mexican couple of Poblano origin combines the talent of painting and the creation of delicate glass figures to form handicrafts through the technique of blown glass, pieces that were sold and exhibited at the Bone Fair. Francisco Ascensión, originally from the state of Puebla narrated that making these figures in glass to which he adds his creativity and craft vision, are images of mythical fauna such as dragons or unicorns or common animals such as dolphins, besides creating

religious figures, flowers, among many others The figures take a few minutes to complete, in the case of the smallest ones, and in others it takes several hours to complete them, in the case of the largest and most detailed ones. "The job is to melt the glass with a blowtorch and at the same time I'm giving it the shape of the piece. To apply the heat to the glass, consider the thickness of the bar and what you want to do. Small pieces do not need a lot of heat. There in Puebla

www.amigosmava.org

there are many people who are dedicated to this and now we are in Chihuahua, "he explained.

After creating the bases and detailing the glass figures, Francisco passes them to his wife, Silvia Jiménez, who then applies them a stained glass lacquer that gives them a lively color and leaves them ready for sale. The prices of handicrafts vary from 30 to 300 pesos (€ 1.3 to € 13), pieces that are part of the Mexican cultural diversity.

With the record of one million visits in the high season (October-December), the Magic Town of Chignahuapan (Mexico) is among the most visited in the Poblano territory, despite being located among the municipalities where insecurity has grown; Even so, the tourist preference continues to increase, perhaps attracted by the colors and the brightness of the spheres. According to information provided by the social communication coordinator, Martín Martínez Vega, the high season of tourism includes the months of October to December, date where - traditionally - the area becomes a pretext to visit this Magical Town. The most visited areas are the center, by the artisan corridors, the recreational center of the jump of Quetzalapa (although it belongs municipality of Zacatlán), the thermal baths. The investigations made by this reporter, in recent years, reveal that the amount of production of pieces of beings is difficult to estimate, although the production and reaches the count of millions of fueros produced throughout the year, in more than 300 models and materials, from accessible costs to higher prices. The beauty of these spheres and their original models captivate national buyers, as well as American, European and even Vatican buyers. On this last emblematic European site, the spheres of this town adorned the chapel of Guadalupe, of the Vatican. A year later, for the second year in

a row, at the headquarters of Pope Benedict XVI, 520 spheres of matt silver and cobalt blue adorned the Christmas tree of that Catholic chapel. Currently the figures are between 200 and 420 workshops, eight factories and more than 200 families that benefit directly from the production of spheres, many of them handcrafted. Not everything has been easy, there have been difficult times in which they have had to compete with Chinese products or, when the economy has had a crisis, improvising with cheaper materials. Four years after his death, the legacy of Rafael Méndez Núñez prevails as one of the icons that give prominence to this municipality in Mexico and abroad and that has made the company esferera one of the most representative icons of this Magical Town , more than half a century of the manufacture of the first "glass bubble".

The plenary agreement adopted by the City Council of Seville last June definitively approving the new special plan for internal reform (PERI) of the grounds of the old La Trinidad glass factory, located on Miraflores Avenue and whose protected spaces will be destined to public use while the rest of the plot will host private homes, has been the subject of an appeal through the Contentious Administrative Law, as it appears in an official document collected by Europa Press.
