Marines assigned to 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing returned early Saturday morning after a five-month deployment to Helmand province, Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. Operating at Camp Leatherneck while assigned to Marine Air Control Group 28, Marine Air Control Squadron 2 provided aerial control of all coalition and civilian air traffic across Regional Command Southwest, or roughly 70,000 square miles.

The Marines returning are part of a large group of 2nd MAW Marines returning from Afghanistan. “Our mission is done here,” said 1st Lt. James J. Wuestman, an air operations center officer with MACS-2. “Central command basically told us they want to transfer the duties of the Marines in Afghanistan out of theater.” For Wuestman, returning from his fifth deployment, the Marines performed exactly as expected, handing over control of the airspace to the Air Force earlier this month. “The See RETURN page A7

More than 200 Marines and Sailors with Marine Wing Support Squadron 274 arrived here Nov. 20 after engaging in a five-week exercise in the Mojave Desert. The Integrated Training Exercise is a predeployment exercise designed to allow unit’s to evaluate their combat effectiveness in a deployed environment. ITX replaced Enhanced Mojave Viper late last year and is conducted at Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center Twentynine Palms, Calif. The squadron participated in the exercise in preparation for upcoming missions and possible deployments, according to Maj. Adam Pastor, the squadron’s executive officer. During the exercise, the squadron provided vital support to the Marine Air-Ground Task Force, Pastor said. “The Marines and Sailors performed airfield operations, aircraft rescue and firefighting, explosive ordinance disposal, motor transport, logistics and communications support,” said Pastor. “This training ensures the squadron is ready for any mission they are tasked.” The Marines and Sailors also refamiliarized themselves with Marine Corps common skills. “We practiced convoy operations, desert survival training, and weapons handling and familiarization skills,” said Sgt. Mark A. Peterson II, an Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting specialist with the squadron. In addition to performing well during the exercise, the squadron revolutionized the evaluation process, according to Pastor. See ITX page A7

HITT prepares females for PFT season PFC. GRACE L. WALADKEWICS MCAS CHERRY POINT

Every Thursday service women from Cherry Point gather at the High Intensity Tactical Training Center for an hour of physical training in preparation for the next year’s physical fitness test. While proposed changes to female fitness standards in the Marine Corps are currently on hold, it is essential for females to take part in this type of training to help them improve their physical fitness and combat readiness, said Dana Nichols, a fitness specialist and HITT instructor with Marine Corps Community Services. HITT classes help enhance fitness levels and optimize combat readiness and resilience. MCCS designed the female-only class after the Marine Corps began exploring a switch from the flexed arm hang to pullups for female Marines and Sailors dur-

ing the annual PFT. “This class is to help female Marines get stronger for pull-ups, lose fat and run faster,” said Nichols. During the training, participants complete an exercise circuit focusing on endurance and strength. The circuit includes pull-ups, ropes, kettle bells, box jumps and a variety of lower body exercises. “It is great to see women coming out in groups to work out on their lunch break,” said Nichols. “I love to see them encourage each other to work harder.” Classes like HITT give Marines a chance to build camaraderie while also building their physical fitness abilities, said 2nd Lt. Kia Logan, a communications officer with Marine Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Squadron 2. “I think it’s awesome that this class is offered for females,” said Logan. “The See HITT page A7

Sports supplements recalled This week Physique Enhancing Science, also called PES, recalled certain lots of Enhanced, a pre-workout supplement, and Alphamine, which is sold as a fat burner. Both products contain Aegeline, an ingredient flagged by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration during its investigation of an outbreak of dozens of liver injuries linked to a weight-loss supplement made by a different company: USPlabs’ OxyElite Pro. Health officials have said it is not clear whether Aegeline or something else in OxyElite Pro is the culprit. In the recall notice posted on the PES website, the company said it is requesting customers return certain lots of Enhanced distributed between Feb. 4 and Nov. 5, and certain lots of Alphamine distributed between Sept. 9 and Nov. 12. Visit the company’s website, http://pescience.com/recall, for complete details.

Will the real Santa please stand up? CMDR. PHILIP J. PELIKAN AIR STATION COMMAND CHAPLAIN

It’s that wonderful time of the year again, in which people of all faiths and traditions celebrate and observe gift-giving in some way, shape or form. Many refer to the time as “the holidays,” but most people, regardless of their religious background, still call it, simply Christmas. I’ve spent many years in the Orient, specifically in mainland Japan, and was surprised to see that Japanese people are avid observers of “Christmas,” and are unashamed to call it that. There are Santa Claus figures, trees, decorations and Merry Christmas signs all over the place, along with many other traditional Christmas (and usually Christian), symbols. Even European-American Christmas carols waft through the air in stores and malls all over the country. Christians of all ethnic backgrounds (including Japanese), celebrate not only the birth of Christ as the greatest gift to all humanity, but gift giving in general as a reflection of their faith and desire to be “Christlike” in their lives (which, by the way, is where the label “Christian” first came from). The ultimate image of this “Christ-likeness” in giftgiving, besides that of Christ himself, is the image of a jolly old man in a red suit who brings gifts anonymously to people everywhere in the world on the night before Christmas. Yes, I’m talking about Santa Claus, or St. Nicholas as his name is known in Greek. And by the way, he was a real person! The legends and stories from the life of this great man have taken many twists and turns over the centuries, but they all essentially carry the same message. He typified the ultimate in giving to the poor and destitute, and was always gracious, humble and displayed no “self-seeking” qualities whatsoever. The real story of St. Nicholas is too long to tell here, but I will tell you enough to at least whet your appetite to find out more about this great individual from the annals of historic record and the tradition of early Eastern Christianity. Born some time in the late 3rd century, in a small coastal town in Turkey called Patara (now Anatolia), Nicholas was the only son of very wealthy parents of that region. He was a devout Christian from his earliest years, and came to be known not only for his great generosity from the wealth left to him by his parents, but for his defense of the faith and the many, many miracles he performed just as Christ and His Apostles had done in earlier times. But without going into the many mir-

acles, let me tell you about how he began to be known in the small town in which he lived. One day, late in the year, when Nicholas was the local parish priest, God had revealed to him in prayer the detailed plans of one of the men in town who was in great distress. The man had been very wealthy but had fallen on hard times and become destitute. He had two daughters, but as was the custom of the time, could no longer afford their dowries with which they could become respectable wives. He therefore had resolved within himself to open a brothel, in which he would “feature” his daughters for hire. About to commit this desperate act, an unusual thing happened. A mystery man, out of nowhere, came in the night with a large sack over his shoulder. He tossed the sack through an open window in the home of the poor man. When morning came, the man discovered the sack, and opening it, found a large amount of gold. Rejoicing in his newly found fortune, he thanked God, paid the dowry for his older daughter to be married but wondered who his mysterious benefactor was. Later, after praying that God would reveal the identity of the secret “giver,” another sack appeared in the night through the window. The Lord enabled the man to awaken just as the second sack was being delivered, and he arose quickly to follow the mysterious man through the snow. Catching him in the night, the poor man discovered that it was the priest Nicholas who had been providing the secret riches. Nicholas told the man that God had shown him what he had been planning, and in order to prevent him from committing a grievous sin, gave him the money he needed. Nicholas wanted to remain anonymous, and upon being discovered by the poor man, made him take an oath that he would tell no one of the incident. Nevertheless, the story got out, and soon many were telling of mysterious gifts that had appeared in their homes over the years. Later on, in the early years of the 4th century, Nicholas went on to become Bishop of the entire region of that part of Turkey, called Lycia. The main city of the region was Myra, which was the city of his apostolic rule. Time and space will not permit me to scratch the surface of what this great man accomplished in his lifetime, and beyond. But suffice it say that this and many other stories is what makes believing in the “real” Santa Claus so fascinating and meaningful, especially at Christmas time. Merry Christmas everyone!

First female Marines graduate infantry school LANCE CPL. JUSTIN RODRIGUEZ MCB CAMP LEJEUNE

CAMP LEJEUNE, N.C. – Three Marines made history by becoming the first females to ever graduate from the School of Infantry-East, Camp Geiger Nov. 21. The graduating class of Company D, Infantry Training Battalion, SOI-East, included Pfc. Julia Carroll, Pfc. Cristina Fuentes Montenegro and Pfc. Katie Gorz, demonstrating women are capable of completing the same infantry training as their male counterparts. The three Marines will not serve in an infantry unit, but they will continue on to their primary military occupational specialty schools before hitting the Fleet Marine Force. “I wish I was going to an infantry unit with my fellow Marines,” said Carroll. “We’re trained to take care of each other, and I wish I could help take care of them.” The integration of female Marines into SOI-East was a single phase of a study to evaluate the plausibility of females serving permanently in infantry units. The policy gives each service until Jan. 1, 2016, to evaluate combat related job fields to determine which should be open to both male and female service members and which should remain for males only. Although these Marines will not serve in an infantry unit, they are grateful for the opportunity to attend the training. “I volunteered to attend ITB because it was going to make me a better prepared Marine,” said Fuentes Montenegro. “I feel lucky to be given the opportunity, because there’s a lot of Marines who want to receive the training.” The 59-day course is designed to effectively prepare Marines for combat. Over the course of the training they learn various skills including weapons systems, land navigation, scouting and patrolling. “It was always training, day in and day out,” said Carroll. “But it’s very valuable even if women are not in ground-combat roles; they can still get deployed and they can still see combat.” During the course, the female Marines were held to the same established school standards as their male counterparts, proving both their physical and mental toughness. “The Marines have built a common respect and a bond we’ve expected them to build during the shared hardship,” said Col. Jeffrey T. Conner, commanding officer of SOI-East. “This first evolution proves there are a number of highly-qualified female Marines who are capable of meeting the existing standard for the training currently.” Although this is only the first step toward the integration of women into combat arms roles, today’s graduation validates female Marines are capable of enduring one of the most physically and mentally demanding schools in the Marine Corps.

Marines collect toys, brighten holidays MCAS CHERRY POINT

Four Marines from Cherry Point’s Single Marine Program volunteered to collect donations for Toys for Tots during the New Bern Singles Club Seniors’ Dance at the New Bern Knights of Columbus facility Nov. 16. During the volunteer event the Marines collected more than 150 new, unwrapped toys that will later be distributed to area families to ensure hundreds of local children have a merrier Christmas. “We filled four very large boxes and had gifts that wouldn’t fit into a box, like two bikes and a toddler tooter scooter rider,” said Janet M. O’Grady, a member of the New Bern Singles Club board of directors. “We are thrilled for the success of our event and will sponsor the Toys for Tots event again next year at the New Bern Single’s Club.” Toys for Tots is a Marine Corps Reserve Program designed to benefit underprivileged families during the holiday season by collecting new, unwrapped toys for distribution. “I honestly believe taking part in events of this nature brings great credit upon the Marines, the base and the entire Marine Corps,” said Cpl. Miguel J. Robert, a bulk fuel specialist with Marine Wing Support Squadron 274. “I believe this shows that not only can we do our assigned jobs in the military, but we can also take time out of our busy schedule to give back to the community no matter how big or

small the event.” The Marines were pleased with the turnout and would recommend this volunteer opportunity to any Marine looking to give back. “I must say the turnout was great and the toys being turned in were even greater,” said Robert. The program and the Marines were both successful in meeting goals and performing to the club’s expectations, according to O’Grady. “We want to thank the Single Marine Program for providing young Marines and support personnel to go out into the community to give their time to collect and distribute these toys to families in need throughout our region,” said O’Grady. Volunteer opportunities arranged by the SMP allow Marines to serve the community and allow community members to see Marines in action. Marines from several units at Cherry Point said they are looking forward to volunteering with Toys for Tots this year. The SMP connects service members with volunteer opportunities during their off duty time, according to Robert. The next SMP Toys for Tots volunteer opportunities are scheduled for Nov. 29 and Dec. 15 at the New Bern Bear Plaza. For those who wish to donate to the program, donation boxes are placed at various locations throughout the community. MARINE CORPS AIR STATION MIRAMAR, Calif. – In celebration of the F/A-18 Hornet’s 35th anniversary, The Flying Leatherneck Aviation Museum let visitors climb into the cockpit of an actual F/A-18 and added a display in the museum aboard Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, Calif. Nov. 16-17. “We opened up the F/A-18 on display

for servicemembers and their families to see it inside and out,” said Stephen Smith, the museum’s curator. “We wanted visitors to experience the craft on the weekend, since the actual day of the anniversary is on the 18th when the museum is normally closed.” In 1977, the F/A-18 received its name “Hornet” from William Graham Clayton Jr., the Secretary of the Navy at the time. The concept of the aircraft originates

from heavy modifications to the YF-17 Cobra, in order to become a carrier-capable fighter jet. McDonnell Douglas and Northop developing companies created the fighter jet together, with McDonnell Douglas conducting the final assembly. From there, it went on its first flight Nov. 18, 1978. “The F/A-18 is a strong part of our history on display at the museum,” said Ron Lewis, the foundation historian at the mu-

seum. “Aircraft like this show how much we have advanced in the military over the years.” Lewis helped visitors to the museum get into the cockpit of the fighter jet and educated them about its historical significance. The Flying Leatherneck Aviation Museum holds events such as this to spread the history in Marine Corps aviation. The museum is free and open to the public for those who want to learn more.

Exercise Raven is an aviation exercise designed to provide close-air support training to Marine Corps Forces Special Operations Command in preparation for an upcoming deployment. This exercise helps MARSOC’s training by providing close-air support, radio communication and

emergency extract, simulating the real-life requirements they could face while deployed. This is Raven’s second iteration after its start in 2012. “It’s a pretty big footprint for us,” said Sgt. Maj. Amman Catalan of Marine Aircraft Group 49. “It gets a lot of Marines out of their element, out of the normal day-to-day basis to actually perform their (military occupational specialty) in a (deployed) environment.” Catalan said the best part of the exercise is seeing all the Marines come together, finding out their own capabilities and seeing the hard work they are putting in.

HMLA-773 is broken into three detachments in different states – New Jersey, Georgia, and Louisiana. Catalan said combining all three detachments for an exercise like this is a rare opportunity. “The cohesion of the unit is very tight,” Catalan added. “Every time we pack up and leave our home training center, we here at 773 take it as an opportunity to learn. Doubly so for us as Red Dogs, since we have three sites, time we can spend together as a squadron is time well spent,” said Lt. Col. Kyle Burress, HMLA-773 commanding officer. Aviation requires a significant amount of behind-thescenes work. For every hour of flight time, there are eight hours of maintenance that have to go into the aircraft. Before that work can begin, tools, fluids, wires, paint and hundreds of other items need to be prepared. While this is being accomplished, Marines are performing other functions within their sections. Ultimately, one hour of flight time in one of the squadron’s AH-1W Super Cobra helicopters or UH-1N Huey’s, literally takes hundreds of hours of hard work and cooperation behind the scenes. “Marines are phenomenal,” said Catalan. “They’ll work all day just to get a bird up in the sky.” While most of the mechanics, administrative and logistical personnel are active-duty, the pilots were reserve Marines. The reserve and active-duty Marines had seamless coordination while working together, according to Catalan. “Interaction between the active-duty and reserve Marines is always a great opportunity for everyone involved. For the reserve Marines, the MOS training received is critical,” Burress agreed. “While our commitments overseas may be winding down, there are still, and probably always will be, Marines deployed overseas and away from their families. This was our opportunity to support them prior to deploying,” he said. The reserve and active-duty Marines of HMLA-773 built strength as a unit, gained unique training in an uncommon environment, and learned valuable operational skills as each day passed during exercise Raven 14-01.

“[The squadron] created a deployment readiness evaluation process to evaluate the deployment readiness and execution of mission-essential tasks,” he said. “This process will be adopted by Tactical Training Exercise Control Group and Headquarters, U.S. Marine Corps Training and Education Command, to evaluate future MWSSs,” he said. The unit is scheduled to deploy in support of Operation Enduring Freedom this spring.

Marines did exceptionally well,” said Wuestman. “Every day the Marines were a part of some type of operation.” The deployment went well and was a great opportunity for the Marines, said Master Sgt. Herbert Smith, the senior air director with MACS-2. “Anytime anyone flew in southern Afghanistan, it was our Marines dealing with them whether they were military or civilian,” said Smith. The Marines would sometimes work 14-hour days without complaints, he said. “They did a phenomenal job getting everything done,” said Smith. “The whole deployment was like a highlight to watch; so many young Marines doing jobs that you would expect staff noncommissioned officers or more senior officers to do. It was absolutely amazing, and they handled it with no hiccups.”

When holiday cheer and the aroma of seasonal comfort foods fill the air, members of the surrounding community rally together to help those in need. Marines with the Center for Naval Aviation Technical Training and Marine Aircraft Group 14 joined Cherry Point Religious Community Services to conduct the quarterly food distribution sponsored by the United States Department of Agriculture Nov. 21 in New Bern. The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services provides support to more than 15,000 individuals in Craven County with food and nutritional services. The program’s success depends solely on volunteers to distribute food items, according to retired Army Command Sgt. Maj. Willie Shelley, the military liaison for the event. “To obtain enough volunteers to run the program would almost be impossible if it wasn’t for the dependability of the Marines,” said Shelley. “We know we can count on them. I know they will be there and I know they are going to work, and that’s what counts to me.” During the event, 45 Marines helped distribute food to families and individuals who have fallen on hard times. “We handed out bags of chicken and canned goods to the families,” said Lance Cpl. Thomas M. Ruggeri, an aircraft electronic counter measures systems technician with CNATT. During distributions, RCS delivers between 12,000 and 18,000 food items to the community. “It’s a really good feeling knowing that people who really need the food are getting it,” said Ruggeri. The volunteers said they were honored to be allowed to help. “I’m having a blast just putting my day toward something bigger,” said Ruggeri. “The expression on their faces when they receive the food, the look of thankfulness, is bigger than me and that’s why I enjoy it.”

Holiday Safety Drive safe this Thanksgiving weekend LANCE CPL. VICTOR A. ARRIAGA MCAS CHERRY POINT

Thanksgiving week is the most traveled time of the year according to AAA statistics. An estimated 43.4 million Americans are expected to travel more than 50 miles for Thanksgiving, which means the streets will be more crowded and more dangerous. “There’s a lot of traveling going on during the holidays, and if you really think about it, Thanksgiving is the first major holiday, said John M. Ruth, a safety and occupational health specialist aboard Cherry Point. “There are folks going on leave and people making big plans, and things start getting crazy. In order to be safest during holiday travel, proper planning is essential. “Make sure your car is ready to go and make sure you are ready to go by getting a good night’s rest the night before, said Ruth. “If you are going to have passengers with you have some sort of plan as well as a backup plan. Additionally, weather should be taken into consideration when traveling for the holidays. “Everyone should be contacting their local weather stations and their state highway patrol in order to see what the weather will be like on their trip, said Ruth. “Especially this holiday season with storms, having a plan is your best route. According to Ruth, in case of an emergency, travelers should have cell phones, extra cash in their pocket, extra food and water in their car, and someone should know where you are traveling. If something happens to your car, Ruth recommends you stay close to it and try to conserve as much battery power as possible. There have been four fatalities among Marines involving a motor vehicle since October of this year, said Ruth. “It only takes a second to become a statistic, he said. “Don’t get distracted by the holiday season because it’s not worth the risk sometimes and these are our brothers and sisters who are dying.

A special Thanksgiving holiday meal will be served at the Cherry Point Mess Hall from 3:30–5 p.m. today. Meal prices are as follows: -$7.60 for Marines on ComRats and family members -$6.45 for Marine spouses and dependents of E-1 through E-4

The menu will include: Spiced fruit cup, chicken noodle soup, deviled eggs, roast beef, bone-less turkey, baked canned ham, corn bread dressing, mashed potatoes, glazed sweet potatoes, whole kernel corn, frozen peas with mushrooms, chicken or turkey gravy, pineapple sauce (for ham), fruit salad, assorted crackers, garlic croutons, dinner rolls, minced-meat pie, pumpkin pie, assorted fruit pies, assorted ice cream, cranberry sauce, chilled eggnog, salad bar

Ten ways to help you buy a car 1ST LT. MICHAEL R. LOVEJOY LEGAL SERVICES SUPPORT TEAM

Buying a car is often the most expensive purchase in a young Marine’s life. Unfortunately, buying a car is a complicated transaction and, if not done carefully, can be the most expensive mistake of a young Marine’s life. The following is a list of ten things you must plan for before ever setting foot on a car dealership. Failure to implement your plan for any one of these items will cost you thousands. 1. Think beyond the monthly payment: Before doing anything else, you need to figure out what exactly you can afford for all costs involved in owning a vehicle. Remember that negotiating a low monthly payment does not necessarily mean you are getting a good deal. The purchase price is only one part of the cost of owning a vehicle: before you drive off the lot, you will pay sales tax and registration fees; every month after that, you will pay for insurance, gas and routine maintenance. Lastly, if you take out a loan to buy the car, you will pay hundreds, if not thousands, in interest over the course of the loan. 2. Avoid dealer financing: Before beginning the search for your car, first figure out where you are going to borrow the money to pay for it. Banks that specialize in lending to servicemembers will almost always offer a better interest rate than financing offered at dealerships. Think long term and calculate how much you will be paying back over the course of the loan. If you take out a 5 year loan for $15,000 at 3 percent interest, you will pay back a total of $16,171. The same loan at 17 percent interest will cost you $22,367 to pay off. The standard term for a car loan is five years; do not agree to anything longer than this. If you can’t afford to pay for the car in five years, you need to find a cheaper car. 3. If it isn’t in writing, it isn’t true: If a salesman makes a claim to you about the quality of the car, insist that he include that exact language in the contract. For example, he might say to you that the car has a “brand new motor installed at the factory but the contract might just say “factory motor. If the words in the contract don’t match what the salesman said to you, don’t sign it. 4. Get a vehicle history: Services such as Carfax and AutoCheck can provide a vehicle history that should indicate major accidents or problems with the car’s title. Most reputable dealers will provide you with one of these reports, but if not, or if you are not buying from a dealer, don’t close the deal without first checking the vehicle’s history. Spending a few bucks to see if the car you are buying has any red flags on its vehicle history could prevent you from making a costly mistake. 5. Cast a wide net: Before setting foot at any particular lot, services such as Consumer Reports and Kelley Blue Book can give you a ballpark figure of what a car is worth based on its year, make, and model. Use the Internet to compare prices and models offered at hundreds of dealerships. Narrow that list to a dozen or so cars and email the sellers to see what kind of deal they will offer you. Take the best offer and see if any of the other dealers are willing to undercut it. This way, the salesmen are competing for your business. 6. There’s always a catch: If a salesman is presenting you with a deal that looks too good to be true, it is. The dealership is not a charity – they are not going to sell a car unless they are making a profit. If it looks like you have an opportunity to buy a car for less than mar-

ket value, there is probably something wrong with that car that you don’t know about. Additionally, after you have made a deal, but before they hand you the keys, you will be ushered to a back room where another salesman will try and sell you rust proofing, extended warranties, paint sealant and a bunch of other extras you don’t need. These products are almost always unnecessary and sold at a huge mark-up. This is their last attempt to extract as much money as possible out of your pocket – don’t take the bait. 7. Have it inspected: Before signing the dotted line, have the car inspected by a trusted mechanic who has no financial interest in whether or not you buy the car. This will cost a little bit of money up front, but could save you thousands. The seller will downplay anything that appears to be wrong with the car – a neutral mechanic will tell it like it is. 8. Bring a friend: Everyone at a car dealership, from the salesman on the floor to the manager in the back office, has one mission: get you to spend as much money as possible. The odds are not in your favor because they do this for a living; however, Marines are good at taking care of each other. Bring a battle buddy to watch your back and make sure you don’t get taken advantage of in a high-pressure sales environment. Remember – the dealer’s goal is to get you to pay for his kids to go to college. 9. A deal is a deal: Once you sign the dotted line and drive off the lot, do not expect to be able to get out of the deal. In the event of a deployment, it is possible to terminate certain residential or vehicle leases, but the same is not true for purchase contracts. Once you buy a car, there is no turning back. 10. You have all the power: Between you and the salesman, you are the one that controls whether or not the transaction will take place. The salesman will do anything he can to close the deal that day, but buying a car should always be at least a two-day process. Once you think you have a deal, have the salesman put it in writing and tell him you want a night to think it over. This will give you a chance to cool off and have someone you trust look the deal over. There is also nothing wrong with taking that written offer to another dealership and seeing if they will beat it. If the salesman won’t let you leave the lot with a written offer, he is hiding something from you and you should report his actions to a manager and not do business at that dealership. It is not enough just to know these strategies, you have to use them. You can also bring in a purchase contract to Legal Assistance for us to review before you sign. And most of all, take advantage of the car buying seminar offered at the T&E Building by Ms. LouAnn Witmer, 466-5837, where you can learn more about car-buying and budgeting to get a vehicle that’s right for you. The next class is on Dec. 5 from 9-11 a.m. Legal Assistance can help you with non-criminal legal matters. A limited number of walk-in appointments are accepted weekdays at 7:30 a.m. at the Legal Services Support Team, Bldg. 219. We also draft powers of attorney on a walk-in basis from 7:30-11 a.m. and 1-4:30 p.m. An estate planning brief is performed every Monday and Wednesday at 9:45 a.m., which you must attend in order to have a will drafted.
