SPRING IS COMING, AND THE NEW TRXI’S TOO! It was a long long winter this year. Temperature were quite good for windsurfing, but job wasn’t. After a good wave session at Christmas, I couldn’t be synchronized with the wind. As a result I spent many time at the desk but no time on the water... No matter, now temperatures are increasing and the new TR-XI juste arrived in France. So that means that I will be back on the water in slalom to test and trim the new sails. I’m really excited : to reach the best of the gear is still interesting time in sight ! Increasing temperatures mean also lighter wetsuit, longer session until the sunset. Anyway, more time on the water and better conditions too, so the best is coming now and I will catch it ! François Bichelot – F195

NOT MUCH WIND IN MARCH The last month was not great at all. There is not much to report. A couple of good days on my feestyleboard. That’ s it. It is still cold in northern Germany. Today we have the first warm day of the year but unfortunately there is no wind. My neighbour has a barbecue on his balcony. Maybe I should steal a steak and a beer... The photos you see are unpublished pictures of my last session in Fornaes (Denmark, Baltic Sea). The pictures were taken last fall. They are not up to date but in my opinion they are too good to get dusty on my hard drive... All the best Holger Beer

TR-XI TESTING March month statrt with testing TRXI sails with Xavier Joly and le Saux. In the mean time, first competiiton of the year was Slalom french championchip 1st stage in south of France. It did not correspond to a good result for me: 31 overall and 2nd in master, due to bad choice of material and bat timings on the starting line. Anyway, it was a constructive contest with high level (top PWA french riders were all present without Antoine Albeau). Aloha Fabien Courtiade

MARCH WAS AN AWESOME MONTH!

The waves were super fun and for a change, there was actually wind! I had a few great sessions, as always, on my trusty 4.6 mutant. I also got my first job, teaching windsurfing for HST. I have been on a tough workout regimen. The days that I wasn’t surfing or windsurfing, I was diving. Diving has really improved my surfing and windsurfing. I am more confident in bigger surf, and it is super fun.

10 YEARS WITH MAUISAILS Time for a change! Can’t believe it’s been almost 10 years since I got my first MauiSails Legend. As a kid from LA in college at UC Davis at the time, the thought of living a life and career around windsurfing and action sports seemed more like a distant dream than any possible reality. But thanks to the support from Rick, Barry, Phil, Art, Caroline, mr. Bogo, the whole MS team, and my parents, that dream, and everything I could have imagined in it, is indeed my reality. THE TRXI HAS ARRIVED IN FRANCE! At the beginning of March the Team France was looking forward to getting its new sails. Meanwhile, the wind gave us very strong conditions on the legendary spot of Almanarre. We decided to organise a gusty session with winds between 35 and 45 knots on a choppy water. Our old TR 5.1 and 5.5 were out. See the video below.

We had fun and Xavier J. took the opportunity to get his gun and rode few speed runs up to 40 knots. Before endind the session, we planned to meet when TRXI arrive.

At the end of the month, TRXI finally arrived at Fos-sur-Mer. No sooner arrived than tried. We all met to try our new stuff, all very excited. We were going to be able to prepare together and compare our settings. Actually we all chose the same board: the RRD X-Fire V7, allowing us to compare our performance with the same sails and boards.
Xavier LS. has joined the rest of the team (Fabien and Xavier J) in the South of France. This is a large volume of Maui Sails happened directly from the French importer, Eric. We all got our sails on Friday at Glissattitude and tried the shipment throughout the weekend. Always exciting to unveil the package and discover the new innovations.

This weekend was perfect, we sailed to 5.9 by 6.6 by 7.0 and 7.7 and thus we tested many different sails in various conditions on Jai and Brusc spots. See the video below.

The sails are more stable than the former ones and still very balanced. They give power and control when needed. The profile is very consistent, without breaks and with very little unsightly folds. GETTING MORE USED TO THE NEW SAILS Every day of sailing im getting more used to the new sails. Allready had two trainings weekends in formula and salom and its getting better and better.
