MONSARAZ WORLD FESTIVAL
YOUTH FORMULA WINDSURFING 2015 WORLDS The world championship in Lagos Portugal has been a super great event with strong winds and lots of races. Me and my brother came 2 days before the event to get our new Mauisails TR-X1 formula sails trimmed. I have been racing with the 10,0 and 11,0 TR-X1 for the hole event and i must say, i love the new sails. They are machines on the upwind and got great speed on the downwind. We did 11 races in 4 days and all races was in 15-25 knots of wind. I was in the front group of 4 sailors most of the time, but i did way to many mistakes in my racing to really go to the front of the race. It was so close racing and super fast racing cause of the strong winds so if you made small mistake, you would get overtaken so fast. But all in all i am really happy with my performance and i am looking forward to next year. Mads Jepsen DEN-15

We arrived to Lagos, Portugal on the Saturday before. I directly went windsurfing. In the hole week we run 11 races were I came out as 9th.Even while I got hurt in my foot. I used the TR-9 sail 10.0 and 11.0 which are amazing in the downwind. I learned a lot and had a lot of fun! I hope i can do more events this year with my maui sails! Maurits Franken

NEWS FROM MEXICO Bucerias Classic was held in Bucerias Nayarit Mexico last weekend may 2 & 3 2015! It did not blow as expected but on Sarturday a giant slalom downwind course was held; aprox 5 km distance from the town of Cruz de Huanacaxtle to the town of Bucerias. There were two buoys on which competitors had to jibe... Then reach all the way to the finish buoy in between the buoy and the beach. Iosu did all the giant slalom hooked to win first place in windsurfing juniors. There were aprox 40 competitor in total, all of different ages. This event is a GREAT EVENT and is always organized by ADAM FINER.

LOVING THE TR-XI!! I’ve been to Tenerife to trim the sails before the season. After a few sessions in Tenerife I already felt that the sails are superfast and stable!
Also in Holland the sails are still really fast and I have been training here for the upcoming competitions like the Dutch slalom Championships. I am hoping to get a PWA World Tour wildcard for the Costa Brava event to show there what I can do with these machines! Training together with Thom van de Sande. Tomas van Zelst NED-28

FIRST PARTICIPATION TO THE IFCA SLALOM EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIP I take the road from Paris to the Almanarre, the famous spot that has welcomed some steps of the Windsurf World Cup during a few years. The objective: participate to my first Master European Championship. The pressure is there at the moment of the inscriptions with old fames of the windsurf. But the ambiance is pleasant, and the race rules are quiet nice. It is a classic downwind slalom but there is no place for the “no rules” as in PWA. We have to register our equipment in advance for the whole race, with only 2 boards and 4 sails allowed. Weather forecast are between 10 to 25 knots, I choose Maui Sails RRXI 9.3, 8.4, 7.7 and 6.6 and my RRD X-Fire 122 and 144. It will be the good choice. We will have great races and we are doing them quickly one after another. It is a tiring but interesting training. It was a great pleasure for me, I arrived 20 for 25 participants. The objective was to pass the heat. Done! I am very happy. The sails work well and are very manageable on the jibes. I need to improve my speed but I am progressing. Next step, the Défi Wind ! SLALOM IS ON! The training and tuning has started as the TRXI arrived. We’ve had good days with wind and even some days with good temperatures here in the Netherlands. I have the TRXI sails in the sizes 5.5, 6.3, 7.0, 7.7 & 8.4, and I’ve used all sizes allready a few times. All sizes feel great with lots of drive but also lots of control. Tuning was really easy as for the downhaul just around one setting seems to work for all conditions which I think is similar to the tuning of the TRX. The boom height makes a bigger difference, most of the time its set between 1 and 2. For low wind or really controllable conditions it was set at 2 or a little higher to get more power out of the sail. To summarise, I use the following combinations for slalom: For low wind F2 silberpheil 82 with 8.4. For medium wind F2 silberpheil 69 with 7.7 or 7.0. For high wind Exocet RS2 (59 wide) with 6.3 and 5.5. I’m looking forward to the slalom competition with the new rigs!! Hangloose, Marco van der Leer NED-207
