“This new touring production has made regional theatre feel in ruder health overnight.” The Stage on The Four Men

Conn Artists Theatre Company in association with Worthing Theatres and The George Eliot Fellowship

George Eliot’s

Silas Marner

adapted by Geoffrey Beevers George Eliot’s great Victorian epic novel is thrillingly brought to the stage in the bicentenary year of her birth by Worthing based company CONN ARTISTS, returning to their natural home - the Connaught - after a hugely successful run and tour of The Four Men in 2017. Wrongfully condemned and outcast from society, a poor weaver, eaten up with bitterness and anger, becomes a doomed miser and recluse, until he is forced to take in a young orphan girl. Their mutual friendship leads to joy, love and his redemption.

The heart warming action, set in the early years of the 19th century, is performed by an ensemble cast of seven actors accompanied by music and songs of the period. Once again directed by Nick Young, and led by Ross Muir after his much praised performances as Hilaire Belloc in The Four Men and JM Barrie in Courage. Presented by special arrangement with Samuel French Ltd. Post-show Q&A after the opening night.

Theatre Proteus Theatre Company

Award-winning theatre company Proteus present a highly physical re-imagining of Shakespeare’s Macbeth as a corporate thriller set against the backdrop of the ‘greed is good’ culture of 1980s Britain.

This new production features movement from George Mann of Ad Infinitum and is set to a pulsing soundtrack of 80s electro hits, synthinspired modern classics and interwoven with specially composed original music.

This is London, October 1987. This is a tale of greed, betrayal and murder. This is Macbeth.

This transferral of Shakespeare to an 80’s trading floor reinvigorates the text and features a full BAME cast. With phenomenal stage design and lighting this production is made culturally relevant and exciting for a new generation.

On the trading floor, success is all and ruthless ambition is rewarded. The only problem is, how do you control it before it consumes you?

Come with him on this comedy journey into our culture’s most dank virtual underground. You will come back safe, more able to deflect your own trolls, and only a little bit soiled.
