China Europe International Summer School (CEISS)

It gives us great pride and pleasure to announce to you the official launching of the China Europe International Summer School (CEISS). CEISS is the name of a new summer school program that has been set up through the joint efforts of four of the leading universities in Europe and China Fudan University in China, Freie Universit채t Berlin in Germany, Utrecht University in the Netherlands and University of Copenhagen in Denmark, at the initiative of the international higher education consultancy Edvance Education International. CEISS was established with the aim of promoting academic cooperation and student mobility between Europe and China, and enhancing mutual understanding in Sino-European relations. During the summer of 2014, CEISS will offer a series 14 exciting summer courses to Chinese and international students, in the disciplines that matter most to SinoEuropean relations: international economics and business; politics and governance; and international relations and diplomacy. Through their collaboration, CEISS partner universities aim to provide a new type of high-value, short-term academic mobility opportunity to Chinese, European and ultimately other international students, that will allow them to gain a truly international perspective on the world's main economic, social and political developments in general, and the way they impact on the economies and societies of China and Europe in particular. From financial markets and business ethics to global sourcing and global health, from business innovation and market regulation to social change and good governance, CEISS aims to provide students with fresh and comparative perspectives on the issues that matter in the world today.

Courses will be delivered at the main campuses of the four participating universities, Shanghai, Berlin, Utrecht and Copenhagen, offering students the opportunity to travel between continents and take courses at multiple locations in China and Europe, thus providing a truly unique study abroad experience. All courses will have a duration of two weeks and will be taught in English by an international team of prominent lecturers from CEISS partner universities. During the initial session in 2014, seven courses are taught in China, and seven in Europe. Student can take one, two or three subsequent courses at one location or at multiple locations. Class sessions will typically be combined with guest lectures, excursions and study visits. Upon successful completion of the course, students will obtain a formal university transcript from the universities that they attended. All classes will be taught in an international classroom environment, with a mix of Chinese and international students, and encouraging active academic debate and exchange of views and opinions among students and lecturers. All courses are taught at the advanced undergraduate level; students must have at least one or two years of academic study background, however, no specific expertise is required for the individual courses. On the website of the China Europe International Summer School, you will find lots of information about our courses, our partners, our locations, course

fees, accommodation, application procedures and much more. A digital brochure about CEISS is available here. If you find the courses offered by the China Europe International Summer School to be of interest or relevance to your school and to your students, we would greatly appreciate it if you could bring this under their attention.

Deadline for applications for most courses is June 1, 2014. info@chinaeuropesummerschool.eu http://www.chinaeuropesummerschool.eu
