Our favorite time of year, we look forward to bringing back our seasonal favorites – the Fountains at Festival Plaza, Waneka Lake Boathouse activities, The Great Outdoors Waterpark, and a wide range of programs designed specifically for sunshine and freetime. This summer, Lafayette Recreation has many new and engaging classes and programs for all ages, designed to keep to keep each member of the family entertained. From SUP Yoga to “Try”athalon Training, there is something for every schedule, interest and skill level. Kids can check out a variety of new special interest camps for discerning minds – everything from Yoga to Minecraft and even Chess, there’s sure to be something of interest to everyone. All camps cater to flexible summer schedules, with weekly and daily registration options. Check them out on page 36. Summer fun can impact our regular routines, leaving us looking for interesting activities to fill our exercise needs. Look for outdoor fitness opportunities to take advantage of time outside, or come into the climate controlled Bob Burger Rec Center when you’re looking to get a break from the scorching summer heat. Our indoor pool, and full schedule of fitness classes, as well as all of our regular fitness amenities, remain available all summer. Combine fitness and fun this summer, with a weeknight dip at our Sunset Swim at The Great Outdoors Waterpark! Tuesdays and Thursdays, during the season, from 6-8 pm, admission is just $5.00 for any age. Concession Stand specials during Sunset Swims will save you time and money. Bring the family and enjoy an active evening playing together! Our free community events are front and center during the summer months. Our Movie in the Park series is back by popular demand, the perfect way to kick back and watch the stars on the big screen and the sky! Hosted at Waneka Lake Park on the last Friday of the month, these family friendly movies are free and open to all. Look for the movie schedule, posted on page 13. We will be rocking out on the lake on July 17th with our outdoor summer concert from 5th Gear Funk – a high-energy Funk'n Soul ensemble out of the Denver-Boulder area. Details can be found on page 14. Whether you plan to connect with Rec at the Great Outdoors Waterpark, The Bob Burger Recreation Center or at a fun and free event at Waneka Lake Park, we can’t wait to see you this summer!

BOOT CAMP H20

(Ages 15 +)

Boot Camp H20 is a high intensity, low impact water class that is fun, fast, and effective. Using a variety of buoyancy and resistance equipment, you will get a workout like no other. Set to motivating music, you will work harder than you ever imagined in water, yet we cater to individuals with different fitness levels, ages and abilities. This class is designed to get you fit fast, tone muscles and burn fat. It's great for: Cardio, Muscle strengthening, Core Stability, Improving Posture. Be sure to register three days before the class starts to secure your spot!

WATER WALKING

(Ages 15 +) Water Walking introduces new exercise variables such as buoyancy, water resistance, and heat exchange between your body and water that may add to the benefits you get out of exercising in water. Buoyancy in water - this is the floating part about being in water, this is helpful in building better balance. Water pressure and resistance - just by being in water can improve circulation and even burn off fat. Temperature of water - due to difference in your temperature and that of water you burn more calories. Walking in water makes a great aerobic workout that helps put your body in the fat burning zone. Water buoyancy reduces the burden that the exercises have on your body making it more enjoyable while you burn more calories and fat. Receive 50% off of your registration by packaging this program with Boot Camp H20 or Water Fitness! If you would like to register for water walking as an add on, you must register for either Boot Camp H20 or Water Fitness FIRST in order for the special discount price to be applied.

YOUTH PRESCHOOL PROGRAM

LAFAYETTE EXPLORERS PRESCHOOL

For young children, meaningful and long lasting learning requires active thinking and experimenting to find out how things work. This is best accomplished through purposeful play facilitated by highly intentional teaching practices. THE GOALS OF OUR CURRICULUM The most important goal of our early childhood curriculum is to help children become enthusiastic learners and form friendships. This means encouraging children to be active and creative explorers who are not afraid to try out their ideas and to think their own thoughts. We strive to help children become independent, self-confident, inquisitive learners. We’re teaching them how to learn, not just in preschool, but also all through their lives.

MISSING LINK DO YOU HAVE SOMETHING ELSE WE CAN PLACE HERE?

We provide opportunities for them to learn at their own pace and in the ways that are best for them.

► SOCIAL:

to help children feel comfortable in school, trust their new environment, make friends, and feel they are a part of the group.

► EMOTIONAL: to help children experience pride and self confidence, develop independence and self-control, and

form a positive attitude toward life.

► COGNITIVE: to help children become confident learners by letting them try out their own ideas and experience

success, and by helping them acquire learning skills such as the ability to solve problems, ask questions, and use words to describe their ideas, observations, and feelings.

► PHYSICAL: to help children increase their large and small motor skills and feel confident about what their

bodies can do.

E

T T E Y A F A L

S R E R O L P EX 34

The activities we plan for children, the way we organize the environment, select toys and materials, plan the daily schedule, and talk with children, are all designed to accomplish the goals of our curriculum and give the children a successful start in school.
