PHILADELPHIA UNION vs HOUSTON DYNAMO PPL PARK, Chester, Pa. Sept. 23, 2012 (WEEK 29, MLS Game #280) 4 p.m. ET (WPVI-abc6; FS-HOU+/MultiM) Philadelphia Union conclude their two-game home week with a crucial match against the Houston Dynamo in the playoff futures for both clubs on Sunday afternoon at PPL Park. For Union, the arithmetic is simple: Win, or they will be eliminated from playoff contention, following their 1-0 home loss to D.C. United at midweek. The Dynamo find themselves holding onto fifth place in the Eastern Conference and the final postseason spot by just a single point, following their 1-1 draw at Sporting KC last weekend. A late Brian Ching penalty kick was the decider in a 2-1 Dynamo victory June 30 at BBVA Compass Stadium.  It was the Dynamo’s first win in league play vs. Philadelphia; Union had won two of the first four, with two draws. But Houston did win both legs of last year’s Eastern Conference Semifinal Series, a 2-1 win in Chester followed by a 1-0 victory in Houston, on their way to MLS Cup 2011.  Coaches record: John Hackworth vs. HOU: P1 W0 L1 D0 … Dominic Kinnear v PHI: P5 W1 L2 D2 LAST MEETING (MLS) 6/30: HOU 2, PHI 1 (Davis 20; Ching 83 – Daniel 46)  The Dynamo grabbed the lead in the 20th minute. Boniek Garcia’s cross from the right found Macoumba Kandji on the edge of the box. The forward slid the ball into the path of the onrushing Brad Davis, who superbly curled the ball into the far corner.  Union pulled back to even terms just 36 seconds into the second half. Brian Carroll found Keon Daniel at the top of the box, and the Philly midfielder turned and lash a bouncing drive beyond Houston goalkeeper Tally Hall from 20 yards.  But the home side claimed the winner in the 83rd minute after Gabriel Farfan’s sent the Dynamo substitute Brian Ching tumbling to the turf. Referee Fotis Bazakos awarded a penalty and Ching converted the ensuing spot kick himself.  HOUSTON DYNAMO (4-4-2): Tally Hall - Andre Hainault, Jermaine Taylor, Bobby Boswell, Corey Ashe Boniek Garcia, Geoff Cameron, Luiz Camargo (Warren Creavalle 79), Brad Davis - Will Bruin (Brian Ching 74), Macoumba Kandji (Brian Ownby 71).  PHILADELPHIA UNION (4-4-2): Zac MacMath - Sheanon Williams (Freddy Adu 84), Carlos Valdes, Amobi Okugo, Gabriel Farfan - Keon Daniel, Gabriel Gomez (Michael Lahoud 75), Brian Carroll, Michael Farfan Jorge Perlaza (Antoine Hoppenot 64), Lionard Pajoy. PHILADELPHIA UNION Philadelphia Union saw their winless streak extended to eight games as D.C. United scored the game’s only goal on Thursday evening at PPL Park. Union are in ninth place in the Eastern Conference with 27 points from 27 games. LAST MATCH

MLS GAME INFORMATION

The game's lone goal came in the 67th minute. Freed from a long ball out of midfield by Maicon Santos, United's Chris Pontius made a move in the box, forced Union goalkeeper Zac MacMath to come off his line and fed an open Lionard Pajoy, who took the time to settle the ball and then volley it into an empty net against his former team.  United goalkeeper Bill Hamid was credited with five saves for United, who won for a second time this season at PPL Park.  Union interim manager John Hackworth made three changes to the team that came back for a 1-1 draw with Toronto FC at BMO Field. Gabriel Gomez, Keon Daniel and Antoine Hoppenot came into the midfield, in place of Michael Lahoud, Freddy Adu and the suspended Michael Farfan.  PHILADELPHIA UNION (4-2-3-1): Zac MacMath - Sheanon Williams, Carlos Valdes, Amobi Okugo, Gabriel Farfan (Chandler Hoffman 70) - Gabriel Gomez (Freddy Adu 77), Brian Carroll - Danny Cruz, Keon Daniel, Antoine Hoppenot (Josue Martinez 57) - Jack McInerney. TEAM NEWS  Union saw their current winless streak extended to eight games, matching the club record set last July 29-Sept. 10.  “My feeling right now is that our team is struggling,” said Union team manager John Hackworth. “We’re doing everything possible to try put ourselves in a position to score and get attempts on goal, and for whatever reason, even though we had some really good looks, too many times in behind their defense and not to get something out of it, that’s tough.  The last Union victory came July 29, a 2-1 win vs. New England. They’ve gone 0-4-4 since, scoring just four goals in that span.  “We want to win every game, especially at home. … I thought we tried to play a lot more than they did. They sat back and really kind of tried to kill the game and catch us on the counterattack,” said Antoine Hoppenot. “It’s tough to lose a game like that. They ended up catching us on the counterattack and getting one and then they just sat back and killed the game off. It’s a tough one.”  Union’s last goal scored by a striker came July 29, when Jack McInerney netted the game-winner vs. New England. Defenders have scored the last two goals; the others in the current streak came from a holding midfielder and an own goal.  “A little bit of me feels like we can’t buy one, no matter what, because I think those goals are going to come with those young players,” said Hackworth. “The hard part about it is that this is their opportunity, and for young guys like this when they get this chance they really got to seize it. We’re going to keep on teaching it, but at some point those guys have to create the chances and finish them.”  With Michael Farfan suspended, Keon Daniel was given his first start since Aug. 21 in the attacking central midfield spot.  “All we can do right now is give guys opportunities, see what our combinations are, and tonight we tried something new and while it created a lot the quality wasn’t there. So we’ll just have to continue to do that. The one thing I’ll say about the team is they certainly didn’t give up,” Hackworth said. “In fact they almost tried too hard at the end. ... Guys are doing everything they can to put themselves in a position to get something off, but that’s not the smartest way to go about bringing yourself back in a game. So that’s something we have to work on.”  Rookie Antoine Hoppenot made his third league start, his second in the last three games, in a wide position opposite Danny Cruz.  Gabriel Gomez made his first appearance after not featuring at all over the past two matches because of international duty.  “We pushed Jack and Danny Cruz up high and tried to go with a more attacking lineup with Keon Daniel and [Gabriel] Gómez,” Hackworth said. “We’re going to keep trying some stuff. But, at the end of the day, we’ve got to start finishing some chances or we’re just going to have the same conversation again and again. I hope that doesn’t happen.”  With a loss or a tie vs. Houston, Union will be eliminated from playoff contention. HOUSTON DYNAMO The Houston Dynamo gained an important road point, Sporting Kansas City coming back with a late equalizer to leave the teams in a 1-1 draw on Friday evening at Livestrong Sporting Park. The Dynamo are in fourth place in the Eastern Conference with 46 points from 29 games. LAST MATCH  The Dynamo took the lead in the 58th minute. From a continuous spell of possession, Brad Davis took Boniek Garcia's pass in the middle of the attacking third, worked to his left to get into space, and put a low shot past a screened Jimmy Nielsen and inside the far post.

MLS GAME INFORMATION

But Sporting hit for a late equalizer in the third minute of stoppage time. Latching onto a loose ball at the top of the box, Graham Zusi chipped the ball to the far post and C.J. Sapond flung himself headlong at the ball, nodding it past goalkeeper Tally Hall to keep KC atop the East.  Dynamo head coach Dominic Kinnear made two changes to the team that claimed a late 1-0 win against Real Salt Lake at BBVA Compass Stadium. Jermaine Taylor and Boniek Garcia returned from international duty, coming into the team in place of Colin Clark and the suspended Calen Carr.  HOUSTON DYNAMO (4-3-3): Tally Hall - Kofi Sarkodie, Jermaine Taylor, Bobby Boswell, Corey Ashe (Andre Hainault 74) - Luiz Camargo, Ricardo Clark, Brad Davis - Boniek Garcia, Will Bruin (Brian Ching 88), Macoumba Kandji (Giles Barnes 81). TEAM NEWS  The Dynamo still have just one win in their last six league games, now sitting in fourth place in the Eastern Conference to start the week. But they have not lost in three meetings vs. East leaders Sporting KC.  “Hard-earned point as far as I’m concerned, the guys battled hard,” said head coach Dominic Kinnear. “The way it came about is tough but when you look at it, taking five out of nine points from Kansas City the guys should be pretty proud.”  “We weren’t looking for a tie. We were looking for a win,” said Brad Davis. “Sporting is ahead of us in points and we are trying to climb the ladder. That would have put us a couple points behind them. We are still in good place for playoffs. We have five games left and we have to keep moving along and picking up points.”  Davis scored his seventh goal of the season, a single-season career-high. Now in his 11th season, his previous best was six goals, in his second season of 2003, in 26 games for the Dallas Burn.  Boniek Garcia returned from international duty and recorded his third assist in his last four matches. He has six assists in his 13 MLS appearances.  Kofi Sarkodie made his second consecutive start, his first two of the league campaign, remaining at right back.  “He’s defended well and is winning a majority of his battles and is getting into the attack. I think he’s stepped in and done well,” said head coach Dominic Kinnear. “Before, the defense was just playing well and the guys that were playing well were playing. Now he’s gotten a chance … and he prepared himself well and has stepped on the field and looked good.”  Goalkeeper Tally Hall was credited with a season-high seven saves in preserving the single point for the Dynamo, seconds away from his 11th shutout of the season.  “His positioning was very good and the guys defended in front of him pretty well so there was nothing really clear cut until the very end,” Kinnear said. “I thought he put himself in the right spots and it made it easier for him to put his hands on some things.”  Said Davis: “Thirty more seconds and we clear that ball one more time he’s got a shutout record for himself. You really want to be able to depend on your goalie to come up with some big saves and keep you in the game and the last couple of games he’s done that. I think he was huge for us again.”  New signing Giles Barnes made his MLS and Dynamo debut, coming on for the final nine minutes in KC. “He’s shown pretty well in practice and it was a good opportunity to give him a chance to play,” Kinnear said. “I thought when he came on he did some good things.”  On Thursday, the Dynamo moved to the top of Group 4 in the CONCACAF Champions League with a 4-0 win against CD F.A.S. of El Salvador at BBVA Compass Stadium. Goals from Giles Barnes (21) and Bobby Boswell (44) gave the Dynamo a comfortable halftime lead, and Cam Weaver (49) and Colin Clark (78) finished off the victory.  Here’s the Dynamo team: Tyler Deric; Kofi Sarkodie, Andre Hainault, Bobby Boswell, Warren Creavalle; JeVaughn Watson (Calen Carr 58), Adam Moffat, Giles Barnes (Luiz Camargo 81), Colin Clark; Cam Weaver, Brian Ching (Alex Dixon 71)

PHILADELPHIA UNION v HOUSTON DYNAMO

|PPL Park | Sunday September 23, 2012 | 4pm ET MATCH OVERVIEW 

Philadelphia Union and Houston Dynamo have met on seven previous occasions in MLS – including twice in last season’s Playoffs.  The Union have the edge over Dynamo in regular season fixtures with a 2‐2‐1 record, while Dynamo steal the upper hand overall (2‐2‐3) given their Playoff double over the Union in 2011.  The sides’ last MLS clash – 30th June 2012 – saw John Hackworth suffer a controversial 2‐1 defeat in his first away fixture as manager; Brian Ching’s late penalty edging the home side to victory.  Last time the sides met at PPL Park was in the Playoffs last season; Houston with a narrow 2‐1 win which would prove insurmountable following their 1‐0 win in the return fixture days later.  Both previous regular season fixtures between the clubs at PPL Park have ended 1‐1.  The Union will welcome back Michael Farfan for Sunday’s game after the midfielder sat out Thursday’s defeat to D.C. United due to suspension (yellow card accumulation). TEAM NEWS

PHILADELPHIA UNION

EASTERN CONFERENCE POSITION: 9TH LEAGUE RECORD: 7‐14‐6, 27pts

Philadelphia Union have won seven, lost 14 and drawn six of their 27 MLS games this season. The Union have drawn four of their last six MLS games, including their last three on the road (1‐1 at DC, 0‐0 at New England, 1‐1 at Toronto). John Hackworth’s side have continued a trend of dominating possession and chances across their last five games with limited reward, averaging a shade over 60% possession with 72 attempts made compared to just 41 for their opponents. The Union have a 5‐7‐2 record at home this season, losing three of their last four at PPL Park. The Union’s last win at home came against New England Revolution on 29th July (2‐1). Only two teams (Sporting KC, 25; Seattle, 29) have better defensive records than the Union (32 conceded) this season.

HOUSTON DYNAMO

EASTERN CONFERENCE POSITION: 5TH LEAGUE RECORD: 12‐7‐10, 46pts

 Houston Dynamo have won 12, drawn ten and lost seven of their 29 MLS games this season and sit fifth in the Eastern Conference – eight points behind leaders Sporting Kansas City.  No other side has drawn as many MLS as Houston this season.  Following Thursday’s game at PPL Park which saw the Playoff rivals D.C. United defeat the Union 1‐ 0, Houston Dynamo now occupy the final Playoff position but remain a point ahead of sixth‐place Columbus Crew.  Dominic Kinnear’s side are the only unbeaten team on home soil this season but have lost seven of their 15 games away from BBVA Compass Stadium.  With work not completed on the new arena until May 2012, Houston had the unusual situation of spending their opening seven MLS games on the road. They won their opening two games (at Chivas and San Jose) before settling into a 2‐2‐3 record.  Like the Union, Dynamo had an outstanding July – remaining unbeaten and conceding just one goal – but have struggled for consistency since, winning two, losing two and drawing three of their seven MLS games throughout August and September.  On the road, Houston are winless in their last three after suffering defeats to New York Red Bulls and Chicago Fire and drawing 1‐1 last time out at table‐topping Sporting Kansas City.  Goalkeeper Tally Hall has the second‐highest number of clean sheets (11) in MLS this season – second only to KC’s Jimmy Nielsen (12).  Houston Dynamo finished second in the Eastern Conference last season – two points behind winners Sporting Kansas City and one ahead of third‐placed Union.  Houston eliminated the Union from the Playoffs at the Conference Semifinal stage (3‐1 on aggregate) before defeating Sporting KC 2‐0 in the Conference Final.  They narrowly lost out to LA Galaxy in the MLS Cup 2011; Landon Donovan scoring the only goal after 72 minutes. LAST MATCH v HOUSTON DYNAMO

HOUSTON DYNAMO 2‐1 PHILADELPHIA UNION – June 30th, 2012

The Union slipped to a controversial 2‐1 defeat in John Hackworth’s first road game in the Union hotseat as a late Brian Ching penalty gave the home side all three points.  Midfielder Brad Davis opened the scoring in the 19th minute; debutant Oscar Boniek Garcia picking out Macoumba Kandji from the right, allowing the Senegalese forward to take a touch with his back to goal and cushion a pass for Davis’ neat finish.  It took the Union just 35 seconds of the second period to draw level however; Keon Daniel capping a flowing move with an excellent first touch and even better finish from 25 yards which had goalkeeper Tally Hall rooted.  The visitors were almost in front two minutes later but Hall was on hand to deny Michael Farfan from close range following another eye‐catching attack.  Houston would take all three points with a contentious spot kick late in the game as Brian Ching went down following an innocuous aerial battle with Sheanon Williams and Gabriel Farfan.  Ching picked the ball up himself before dispatching the penalty via Zac MacMath’s crossbar. LAST MLS MATCH PHILADELPHIA UNION 0‐1 D.C. UNITED – September 20th, 2012  Former Philadelphia Union striker Lionard Pajoy returned to haunt his old club on Thursday evening, scoring the only goal as D.C. United earned a crucial 1‐0 win at PPL Park.  The win moved United above Houston into fourth position in the Eastern Conference.  D.C.’s goal came after smart work by Chris Pontius, who drew Union goalkeeper Zac MacMath from his line before cutting back to Pajoy. The Colombian striker took the time to settle the ball before dispatching a crisp half‐volley high into an empty net.

DYNAMO NOTES 

_

Dynamo tighten grip on Champions League Group 3: The Dynamo cruised to a 4‐0 win over C.D. FAS of El Salvador on Thursday night in CONCACAF Champions League group play. Midfielder Giles Barnes highlighted his home debut with a breathtaking goal in the 22nd minute, finding space in the middle of the field before cracking a shot from 30 yards into the upper corner for a 1‐0 Houston lead. Bobby Boswell, Cam Weaver and Calen Carr completed the scoring for the Dynamo. With the win, the Dynamo move alone atop Group 3, with seven points from three games (2‐0‐1). Houston will meet C.D. Olimpia of Honduras (1‐0‐1, 4 points) on Oct. 23 at BBVA Compass Stadium in the final group stage game for both teams.

Dynamo leave Kansas City with 1‐1 draw: The Dynamo carried a 1‐0 lead into stoppage time on Sept. 14 before Sporting Kansas earned a draw with an equalizing goal three minutes into stoppage time from C.J. Sapong. The Dynamo took the lead on a well‐taken goal from Brad Davis in the 58th minute. It was Davis’ seventh goal of the year, setting a new career‐ high. Dynamo goalkeeper Tally Hall made a season‐high seven saves to keep Houston in the game. The Dynamo went 1‐0‐2 in three regular season meetings with Sporting KC, including two draws at LIVESTRONG Sporting Park.

Davis sets career‐high with seventh goal: Midfielder Brad Davis set a career‐high with his seventh goal of the season on Sept. 14 at Sporting Kansas City. The five‐time all‐star received a pass from Boniek Garcia outside of the penalty area and drilled a low shot from 25 yards into the far corner of the net. Davis’ previous high for goals in a season was six, set with Dallas in 2003, his second MLS season.

Dynamo newcomer Giles Barnes makes debut at Kansas City: Midfielder Giles Barnes made his Dynamo debut on Sept. 14 at Kansas City. Barnes, 24, entered as a substitute for the final nine minutes of the 1‐1 draw. Barnes joins Houston with eight years of experience in the upper levels of English soccer. He has 138 total appearances in all competitions, including 35 games in the Barclays English Premier League. Barnes also made 12 appearances for England’s U‐19 national team. The attacking midfielder joined Derby County of England in 2005 at age 17 and helped the Rams gain promotion to the English Premier League in 2007. Barnes scored ten goals in 84 appearances with Derby County and earned its Young Player of the Year award in 2007. The London native spent 2010‐11 with West Bromwich Albion of the English Premier League and made 19 appearances for the Baggies. Barnes played the 2011‐12 season with Doncaster Rovers of the English Championship, the second tier of English soccer. The winger tallied one goal and four assists in 36 appearances in all competitions last season.

Dynamo in historic home territory: With the 1‐0 win over RSL on Sept. 6, the Dynamo have equaled the second‐longest home unbeaten streak in league history, at 22 games. Houston is now 9‐0‐5 at BBVA Compass Stadium since its opening on May 12. The Dynamo have not lost a home game in over a year, with their last home defeat on June 18, 2011, a 2‐0 loss to Columbus. Four Dynamo players return from international duty: Four Dynamo players – Boniek Garcia, Andre Hainault, Jermaine Taylor and Je‐Vaughn Watson – returned from international duty for the Sept. 14 showdown with Sporting KC. Taylor started and played 90 minutes for Jamaica in both of its games against the United States. Watson also started both games for Jamaica, playing 90 minutes on Sept. 7 and 75 minutes on Sept. 11. Hainault played 90 minutes in both of Canada’s matches with Panama. Likewise, Garcia played 90 minutes for Honduras in both of its wins over Cuba.

Hall ties former mentor Pat Onstad: Goalkeeper Tally Hall extended his career high with his 11th shutout of the season in the 1‐0 win over Real Salt Lake on Sept. 6. With the clean sheet, Hall equaled former teammate Pat Onstad, who set a franchise record with 11 shutouts in 2007, when the club had a total of 13 clean sheets in 30 regular season games. Hall is tied for the most shutouts in MLS in 2012 with Jimmy Nielsen of Sporting Kansas City.

Daytime Dominance: The Dynamo will try to continue their excellent play in day games on Sunday at Philadelphia. Houston is 5‐1 in day games this year. The 3‐1 loss at Vancouver on June 10 is the Dynamo’s only loss in a day game this season. Houston has daytime wins over Chivas USA, San Jose, D.C. United, LA Galaxy and Toronto FC. The Dynamo are 5‐ 6‐9 in night games. Sunday’s day game at Philadelphia is the last remaining day game for the Dynamo.

Short‐handed Dynamo earn resilient 1‐0 win over Real Salt Lake: Missing four players to international duty, and several more to injury or a stomach virus, the Dynamo could only field a five‐man bench against Real Salt Lake on Sept. 6. In the end, Colin Clark’s penalty four minutes into stoppage time was enough for the Dynamo to halt a four‐game winless streak. In a goalkeeping exhibition, Tally Hall and Nick Rimando matched each other save‐for‐save, with Rimando saving a Brad Davis penalty and Hall making outstanding saves on all three of Salt Lake’s shots on target. Hall earned his 11th shutout of the year to equal former teammate Pat Onstad’s franchise record for shutouts in a season.

Wonderful vs. West: With the 1‐0 win over Real Salt Lake on Sept. 6, the Dynamo improved to 5‐2‐1 on the season against the heralded Western Conference. Houston also has wins against FC Dallas, LA Galaxy, San Jose and Chivas USA.

Boswell’s minutes streak ends: Dynamo defender Bobby Boswell played full time in 37 consecutive MLS matches (3,380 consecutive minutes, including playoffs) before exiting Houston’s 1‐0 win on Sept. 6 in the 74th minute with a stomach virus. The last time Boswell missed a minute of MLS action was Sept. 14, 2011 at Columbus. The center back was the only Dynamo field player to play every minute of every MLS game in 2012. Geoff Cameron holds the franchise record for consecutive full‐time games. Cameron’s streak reached 40 games this season (3,576 consecutive minutes, including playoffs) before he missed the May 26 game against the LA Galaxy due to international duty.

Kinnear ties Nicol on MLS all‐time wins chart: With the 1‐0 win over Real Salt Lake on Sept. 6, Dynamo head coach Dominic Kinnear tied Steve Nicol for fourth place on the all‐time Major League Soccer wins chart. Kinnear has 112 wins in nine seasons as head coach between Houston and San Jose.

Ching equals Holden for international goals mark: Brian Ching’s opening goal in Houston’s 3‐1 win at C.D. FAS on Aug. 22 was his sixth Dynamo goal in international competition. Ching is now tied with Stuart Holden atop the franchise list. It was also Ching’s 27th international appearance to move into a tie for second place with Wade Barrett and Corey Ashe on Houston’s all‐time list.

Davis continues to climb MLS assist chart: Dynamo midfielder Brad Davis recorded his 91st career regular season assist on Sept. 2 at Chicago. Davis is now tied for seventh on the MLS all‐time assist chart with Cobi Jones. Davis is ten assists behing the next man on the chart, Marco Etcheverry, who is sixth with 101 assists. Dynamo assistant coach Steve Ralston is the all‐time leader, with 135 assists.

Ching ties Diaz Arce for 11th on MLS all‐time goal list: Dynamo forward Brian Ching scored his 82nd career MLS regular season goal on Sept. 2 at Chicago. Ching is now tied for 11th on the all‐time MLS scoring list with Raul Diaz Arce. Ching’s next target is 88 goals, where Carlos Ruiz and Roy Lassiter sit tied for ninth on the league’s all‐time chart.

First CCL road win in Dynamo history: The 3‐1 win at FAS on Aug. 22 was the first Dynamo road win in Central America in team history. It was Houston’s first road win in international competition since a 3‐1 win over D.C. United on July 19, 2008 in the SuperLiga.

Bruin passes Stuart Holden: Will Bruin’s goal on Aug. 25 vs. Toronto was his 16th regular season goal in his two‐year career. Bruin moved past Stuart Holden for fourth on the franchise list. Dwayne De Rosario (24 goals) is next on the list.

Bruin in historic Dynamo territory: Bruin’s 11 goals this season are the most for a Dynamo player since Brian Ching set a franchise record with 13 goals in 2008. Bruin reached 9 goals in the fastest number of games (15) in team history. Ching reached 9 goals in Houston’s 16th game in 2006, but Ching missed six of those games due to U.S. men’s national team duties for the 2006 World Cup. Ching scored his ninth goal of 2006 in his tenth game of the season. Bruin’s first 9 goals in 2012 came in a 12‐game stretch (April 15 at Chicago to June 23 at Montreal).

Ricardo Clark returns to Dynamo: Ricardo Clark made his return debut for the Dynamo on Aug. 10 at New York, appearing as a substitute for the final 15 minutes. A cornerstone of Houston’s 2006 and 2007 championship teams, Clark, a member of the 2006 MLS Best XI, scored 7 goals in 97 games played for the Dynamo between 2006 and 2009. Additionally, Clark has been capped 34 times by the U.S. Men’s National Team, including two starts in the 2010 World Cup.

Houston also had ten‐game unbeaten streaks in 2007 (8‐0‐2) and 2006 (4‐0‐6). Houston outscored its opponents 15‐2 during the eight‐game streak.

Taylor tallies third fastest Dynamo goal: Jermaine Taylor scored just 72 seconds into the 2‐0 win over New York on Aug. 3. It was the third fastest goal in Dynamo history, and second fastest in regular season play. Joseph Ngwenya scored 12 seconds into Houston’s SuperLiga game versus Morelia on July 29, 2007 for the fastest goal in team history. Brian Ching scored the fastest goal in MLS play, netting a goal 67 seconds into the match at Real Salt Lake on Sept. 19, 2009.

Three’s Company (shutouts): After going over three years without three consecutive shutouts, the Dynamo recorded three clean sheets in a row twice in a seven‐game span in July and August. Houston kept its third straight clean sheet on Aug. 3 versus New York after recording three in a row to begin July. Before the run of six clean sheets in seven games, the last time Houston recorded three straight was May 30 – June 10, 2009.

Carr sets career high with fourth goal: Calen Carr set a career high with his fourth goal of the season on Aug. 3 All four goals were scored in a four‐game span, including two versus Kansas City on July 18. Carr scored 3 goals in 2010 and 2007.

Brad Davis, Midfield Maestro: Midfielder Brad Davis recorded two assists on July 28 at Toronto for his second consecutive two‐assist game and his fourth straight game with an assist. The all‐star midfielder has 11 assists on the season. Davis is in fifth place in the league in assists. It is the fourth consecutive season and fifth in his last seven that Davis has recorded ten or more assists.

Davis, Cameron named All‐Stars: Midfielder Brad Davis and former Dynamo defender Geoff Cameron were named to the inactive roster for the 2012 MLS All‐Star Game. The Dynamo pair were among a group of 13 players named All‐Stars that did not compete in MLS’ 3‐2 win against Chelsea FC on July 25. The 13 inactive All‐Stars were voted on by the players. It is the fourth straight year that Davis is an All‐Star, and his fifth selection overall.

East Coast Bias: The Dynamo completed a stretch of 14 consecutive games against Eastern Conference teams on Sept. 2 at Chicago. Houston is 7‐5‐8 overall versus the Eastern Conference.

Ching reaches third on Dynamo games played list: Brian Ching made his 185th Dynamo appearance in all competitions on July 7 at Kansas City. He passed Brian Mullan for third on Houston’s all‐time games list.

Davis passes De Ro for second on Dynamo scoring list: Brad Davis’ goal in the first half on June 30 was his 25th regular season goal with the Dynamo. He moved past Dwayne De Rosario into second on the franchise scoring list.

Three in a row for Bruin: Will Bruin scored in three consecutive games (6/16, 6/20, 6/23) for the second time this season (4/15, 4/21, 4/28), with four goals in each three‐game scoring streak. He is the first Dynamo player with a pair of three‐ game scoring streaks in the same season, and just the second player to record two streaks overall (Ching). His last streak marked the sixth time a Dynamo player has scored in three consecutive games (Bruin 2012 (twice); Ching 2006, 2008; Joseph Ngwenya 2007; Stuart Holden 2009). No Dynamo player has ever scored in four consecutive games.

Hall sets goalkeeper consecutive starts record: Tally Hall set a franchise record for consecutive regular season starts by a goalkeeper with his 47th consecutive start against FC Dallas on June 16. He broke the record of 46 set by Pat Onstad, from Sept. 13, 2008 – May 13, 2010. Hall started all 34 games in 2011 and the first 29 games in 2012, pushing the active record to 63 games. Hall has the second longest active streak MLS goalkeepers, behind Matt Pickens of Colorado (72 starts).

• BBVA Compass Stadium opener: The Dynamo opened the 13th soccer‐specific stadium in Major League Soccer on May 12. On a gorgeous, 82‐degree day in front of a sell‐out crowd of 22,039, the Dynamo honored past legends, including Wade Barrett, Pat Onstad, Eddie Robinson and Craig Waibel in a pregame ceremony that included the unveiling of 2006 and 2007 MLS Cup championship banners. Brad Davis provided a signature opening moment, delivering a beautiful, curling 30‐ yard strike for the game‐winning goal in the 67th minute. 

Six years after the club’s first match on April 2, 2006, only two players remain on the Dynamo roster: Brian Ching and Brad Davis. Defender Eddie Robinson retired in January and joined the front office as an assistant coach with the team’s Youth Academy and as a color analyst on TV broadcasts.

UP NEXT: DYNAMO HOST NEW ENGLAND WITH PERFECT HOME RECORD The Dynamo will return to Houston on Saturday to face the New England Revolution. The Dynamo finish the regular season with of their final four games at home. The Dynamo will try to become the fourth team in MLS history to go undefeated at home for an entire season.
