HOUSTON DYNAMO vs LA GALAXY BBVA COMPASS STADIUM, Houston, Texas May 26, 2012 (WEEK 12, MLS Game #112) 1:30 p.m. CT (NBC SN) It’s a rematch of MLS Cup 2011 when the Houston Dynamo play host to the LA Galaxy on Saturday afternoon at BBVA Compass Stadium on the NBC Sports Network. The Dynamo return home after stretching their unbeaten run to three games last weekend, coming back for a 2-2 draw with the New England Revolution. The Galaxy are now winless in their last six contests, seeing the San Jose Earthquakes come storming back for a 3-2 victory at midweek in Carson. REFEREE: Silviu Petrescu. The Galaxy have won five meetings in a row in Carson, including MLS Cup 2011 and the 2009 Western Conference Championship.  Houston’s league win last year in the regular season finale snapped a five-game winless run vs. LA.  Coaches record: Dominic Kinnear v LA: P23 W9 L9 D5 … Bruce Arena vs. HOU: P8 W5 L3 D1 HOUSTON DYNAMO The Houston Dynamo extended their undefeated run to three games with late drama, hitting a late equalizer for a 2-2 draw with the New England Revolution on Saturday evening at Gillette Stadium. The Dynamo are in a tie for fifth place in the Eastern Conference with 13 points from 9 games. LAST MATCH  The Revolution took the lead on 25 minutes. Referee Baldomero Toledo pointed to the spot after Brad Davis clattered into Saer Sène in the area, and Sène took the ball and tucked home his fifth goal of the season.  The Dynamo were level six minutes later as Davis served up his first assist of the season, swinging a free kick that Will Bruin nodded home for his fifth goal of the season before Matt Reis could clear it.  The Revs struck against the run of play for a second time to grasp the lead. Sene robbed defender Geoff Cameron of possession in the middle third and surged down the left into the Dynamo penalty area, capping off the one-man move by thumping home his second of the night past goalkeeper Tally Hall at the near post.  Yet the Dynamo came back to secure a draw with three minutes remaining. Brian Ching and Luiz Camargo played a quick one-two on the edge of the Revolution penalty area with the forward clipping the ball over the New England back four into Camargo's path on the left side of the penalty area, and the Brazilian midfielder kept his composure and polished off the move with his first MLS goal.

MLS GAME INFORMATION

Dynamo head coach Dominic Kinnear made three changes to the team that reached a scoreless draw with the Portland Timbers at BBVA Compass Stadium. Adam Moffat and Je-Vaughn Watson came into the midfield for Nathan Sturgis and Luiz Camargo, and Brian Ching replaced Macoumba Kandji in attack.  HOUSTON DYNAMO (4-4-2): Tally Hall - Jermaine Taylor, Geoff Cameron, Bobby Boswell, Corey Ashe Calen Carr (Macoumba Kandji 76), Adam Moffat, Je-Vaughn Watson (Luiz Camargo 66), Brad Davis (Colin Clark 70) - Will Bruin, Brian Ching. TEAM NEWS  While the Dynamo were able to salvage a late point, they saw their road winless streak stretched to six games, after opening the season with seven consecutive away from Houston.  “We came back twice which is good to see. It's been a tough stretch for us,” said Dynamo boss Dominic Kinnear. “We played some real good stuff in the first half, and to go down a goal and get one back is good. Then I think we gave up a pretty silly goal, but we fought back hard to get back in the game. All credit to the guys. I think we scored in the 87th minute so their effort was fantastic tonight.”  The Dynamo return home for a third game at their new BBVA Compass Stadium, where they have a win and a draw (and have not yet allowed a goal).  “Typically we are a better team at home then on the road. We’re undefeated in three games now, so we would like to keep that going,” said midfielder Adam Moffat. “We don’t want to just be undefeated, but we want to win the games as well.”  Will Bruin scored his fifth goal of the season, all over the last seven games (since April 15). He has matched his league output from his rookie season of a year ago, that coming over 25 appearances.  Luiz Camargo scored his first goal since coming to MLS to give the Dynamo the late draw.  “It’s [Bruin's] fifth goal. I think he's tied for what he did last year, so Will is off to a good start this season. And Luiz Camargo scored his first goal for us at the very end so it's good to see Luiz get on the score sheet,” said Dominic Kinnear. “I'm sure it's going to give both guys confidence as we continue the season.”  Calen Carr made his fourth consecutive start, all coming wide on the right of midfield. “[Calen is] a smart player and he’s figured out the wide position pretty well,” Kinnear said. “I think slowly but surely he’s figured it out and is a smart player and is getting better with every game.”  Said Brad Davis: “Since he’s been back he’s been knocking on the doorstep of getting playing time. We have a pretty good depth chart on this team so it’s a matter of being a tough team to crack. I think he’s made the most of his [opportunity] and has played great since coming off for us.” LA GALAXY The LA Galaxy stunningly saw their winless streak stretched to six games, the San Jose Earthquakes coming back from a two-goal deficit for a 3-2 win Wednesday at The Home Depot Center. The Galaxy are in ninth place in the Western Conference with 11 points from 12 games. LAST MATCH  The Galaxy took an early lead. Barely three minutes in, Juninho slipped a ball into the penalty area for Chad Barrett, who then sent a backheel to a charging Hector Jimenez. He then beat San Jose goalkeeper Jon Busch with a shot to the far post.  The match changed on the hour when Jimenez was sent off by referee Jair Marrufo after a studs-up tackle on Steven Beitashour.  Yet it was the Galaxy who doubled their lead in the 73rd minute. On a counter, David Beckham floated a ball to Mike Magee on the left side. Magee faked a pass, shook himself around the goalkeeper and buried the ball into the roof of the goal.  But the Quakes came right back down and cut the lead in half three minutes later when Marvin Chávez whipped in a corner kick and Steven Lenhart buried a diving header into the back of the goal.  San Jose found the equalizer with eight minutes remaining. Jason Hernandez unloaded a shot from the corner of the area and Beckham got a piece of it with his arm. Khari Stephenson easily converted the resulting penalty.  There was one final twist in stoppage time. Hernandez launched a long ball into the Galaxy area and Alan Gordon took advantage of indecision with the bouncing ball, looping a header over Brian Perk’s head as the Earthquakes escaped with a stunning victory.  Galaxy head coach Bruce Arena made five changes to the team that lost 1-0 to Chivas USA at The Home Depot Center. Bryan Gaul started in place of the suspended David Junior Lopes, Hector Jimenez and David Beckham came into the midfield for Marcelo Sarvas and Kyle Nakazawa, and Chad Barrettand Edson Buddle formed the strike pair in place of Pat Noonan and Landon Donovan.  LA GALAXY (4-4-2): Brian Perk - Sean Franklin, Bryan Gaul, A.J. DeLaGarza, Todd Dunivant - Hector Jimenez (sent off 59), Juninho (Michael Stephens 85), David Beckham, Mike Magee - Chad Barrett, Edson Buddle (Kyle Nakazawa 68).

MLS GAME INFORMATION

TEAM NEWS  The Galaxy saw their winless streak reach six games, the club’s longest since the end of the 2008 season and the beginning of 2009.  “It’s obviously disappointing, but I think the effort was there tonight. I think we battled the whole game so it’s obviously a difficult one to lose. But I think overall we showed a lot of character tonight. I think if we had played like this against Chivas we would have won the game,” said David Beckham. “It’s another loss, obviously it’s disappointing for us, but I think overall the character and the way we played was a plus tonight.”  It was the second time this season the Galaxy scored the game’s opening goal and lost it late. They allowed three goals to Real Salt Lake over the final 18 minutes in a 3-1 loss in the season opener.  “There’s still no excuse for us to not at least get a point out of this game. That’s disappointing because it was really a very good effort on our part and at 2-0 things looked real good. Certainly inexperience and fatigue set in and some poor play tactically,” said Galaxy head coach Bruce Arena. “We played awful well tonight not to get something out of this game. It’s a shame. You make your own breaks and tonight we were positioned to get three points and really turned that game over.”  Rookie Hector Jimenez made his professional debut and scored a goal within three minutes – and was then sent off before the hour.  “It felt good. First two minutes of my first start, it definitely builds confidence during the game and like I said I felt good, I felt like I was doing good and unfortunately it turned into a position at the end there with the red card,” Jimenez said.  Another rookie Bryan Gaul made his second start, also starting the 2-0 loss at Seattle Sounders FC on May 2.  “He played very well, but a young player, as he got tired he made some mistakes. He was marking Lenhart on the corner kick goal. At the end he’s on the ground too much, he has to stay stronger,” said Arena. “We just made too many mistakes, but his performance was encouraging.”

DYNAMO VS. LA GALAXY – 2011 MLS CUP FINAL REMATCH The Houston Dynamo (3‐3‐4; 13 points) return to BBVA Compass Stadium on Saturday for a showdown with the LA Galaxy (3‐7‐2; 11 points). The Dynamo played to a 2‐2 draw with the New England Revolution on Saturday at Gillette Stadium. The Dynamo fell behind twice but produced an equalizer in each half to earn a road point. After Saer Sene’s first‐half penalty kick, Will Bruin equalized for the Dynamo by heading home a free kick from Brad Davis. It was Bruin’s team‐leading fifth goal of the year and Davis’ first assist of the season. Sene handed the Revs a second half lead with his sixth goal of the year before substitute Luiz Camargo delivered a dramatic equalizer in the 87th minute for his first MLS goal. Camargo played a short pass to Brian Ching and received a perfect chip behind the defense from Ching before smashing home a volley past the near post. The Galaxy continued a slow defense of its championship with a 3‐2 home loss to the San Jose Earthquakes on Wednesday. The Galaxy led 2‐0 in the 76th minute before the Quakes scored three late goals for a dramatic 3‐2 win. The Dynamo‐Galaxy clash is a rematch of the 2011 MLS Cup final and the only meeting between Houston and LA in 2012. Houston vs. Los Angeles: The Dynamo are 5‐6‐2 against the Galaxy in regular season meetings. Houston was 3‐3‐2 in eight meetings with the Galaxy at Robertson Stadium and is 2‐3‐2 at The Home Depot Center against the Galaxy. The teams have met twice in the playoffs, with the Galaxy winning both matches. LA and Houston met in the 2009 Western Conference final, an infamous match in which two light outages occurred at The Home Depot Center and the match lasted more than three hours before the Galaxy won 2‐0 after extra time. The clubs battled in the 2011 MLS Cup final on Nov. 20 at The Home Depot Center, with Landon Donovan scoring the cup‐winner in the 72nd minute for a 1‐0 Galaxy win. 2011 Meetings: Each team earned a win at home in 2011, with the Galaxy capturing a 1‐0 victory on May 25 at The Home Depot Center. The Galaxy were awarded a penalty kick in first‐half stoppage time and Landon Donovan converted the spot kick for the game‐winner. The Dynamo hosted the Galaxy in the final regular season match at Robertson Stadium on Oct. 23. Houston produced a 3‐1 win before 30,018 fans, with Adam Moffat delivering a 38‐yard “Adam Bomb” for the opening goal before Bobby Boswell and Carlo Costly added second‐half goals.

PROJECTED STARTING LINEUP (4‐4‐2, Right‐Left) Tally Hall; Jermaine Taylor, Bobby Boswell, Andre Hainault, Corey Ashe; Calen Carr, Adam Moffat, Luiz Camargo, Brad Davis; Will Bruin, Brian Ching

DYNAMO NOTES 

BBVA Compass Stadium opener: The Dynamo opened the 13th soccer‐specific stadium in Major League Soccer on May 12. On a gorgeous 82‐degree day in front of a sellout crowd of 22,039, the Dynamo honored past legends, including Wade Barrett, Pat Onstad, Eddie Robinson and Craig Waibel in a pregame ceremony that included the unveiling of 2006 and 2007 MLS Cup championship banners. Brad Davis provided a signature opening moment, delivering a beautiful, curling 30‐ yard strike for the game‐winning goal in the 67th minute.

Clutch: Luiz Camargo’s 87th‐minute equalizer at New England on Saturday was the Houston’s third late goal on the road this season. Brian Ching’s equalizer in the 81st minute at Columbus on April 21 and Andre Hainault’s game‐winner two minutes into stoppage time at Chivas USA on March 11 were also reminiscent of 2011 for the Dynamo. Last year, Houston scored 14 goals in the final 15 minutes of games, the second most in MLS (Seattle).

1st for Camargo: Luiz Camargo’s equalizer in the 87th minute at New England on Saturday was his first MLS goal.

4 games in 11 days: The Dynamo completed a stretch of four games in 11 days with the 2‐2 draw at New England on Saturday. While Dominic Kinnear rotated the squad throughout the run of games, several players logged large quantities of minutes. Tally Hall, Bobby Boswell, Geoff Cameron and Jermaine Taylor each logged all 360 minutes in the four games. Calen Carr (327 minutes), Brad Davis (324) and Will Bruin (273) each logged solid time as well.

Cameron, Hainault called in for national duty: Geoff Cameron was invited to the 27‐man U.S. men’s national team camp in Orlando in preparation for three friendlies and two World Cup qualifiers. Cameron joined the camp on Sunday and could miss up to two games (vs. LA; @ VAN, 6/10) before returning for the Texas Derby on June 16. It is Cameron’s third national team call‐up. Andre Hainault has been called into the Canadian men’s national team camp ahead of a friendly vs. USA and two World Cup qualifiers. Hainault has 24 caps for Canada and will join the Canadian Soccer Association in Fort Lauderdale after the Galaxy game. He will return for the FC Dallas match on June 16.

Ashe moves to second on franchise list: With his start on May 15 Portland, Corey Ashe played in his 137th MLS regular season game to move to second on the Dynamo all‐time list, passing Brian Mullan and Pat Onstad.

Boswell Bicentennial: Bobby Boswell faced his former team D.C. United on May 12 for his 200th Major League Soccer appearance in his eight‐year career. Boswell could make his 200th MLS start vs. the Galaxy on Saturday. The central defender has been very consistent in his career, averaging 27.4 games per season and has played every minute of every match in 2012. Boswell has played at least 23 games in each season and has played full time in 20 consecutive matches dating to Sept. 14, 2011 at Columbus.

Clean Sheets: The Dynamo earned their fourth clean sheet through nine games in the 0‐0 draw with Portland on May 15. Through nine games in 2011, the Dynamo had recorded just one shutout. Houston recorded a total of six shutouts in the 2011 regular season.

Carr Centennial: Calen Carr’s start at New England on Saturday was his 100th MLS regular season appearance.

Davis reaches 25 Dynamo goals with BBVA Compass opener: Brad Davis’ sensational 30‐yard strike against D.C. United on May 12 was his 25th goal in all competitions with the Dynamo. Davis is the third Dynamo player to reach 25 goals, joining Brian Ching (64) and Dwayne De Rosario (32). It was Davis’ 37th MLS regular season goal.

75 assists on deck for Davis: Brad Davis’ next assist will be his 75th in all competitions for the Dynamo.

Offensive: The Dynamo produced 38 shots in their first two games at BBVA Compass Stadium. May 15 vs. Portland the Orange bombarded Troy Perkins with 18 shots. On May 12, the Dynamo outshot D.C. United 20‐4 for their most shots in a game this season. Houston set a franchise record with 27 shots vs. New England on April 17, 2011 at Robertson Stadium.

Davis Milestone: Brad Davis started against D.C. United on May 12 for his 150th MLS regular season start with the Dynamo. Davis is the franchise leader in regular season starts.

175 for Ching: Brian Ching started vs. D.C. United on May 12 for his 175th appearance for the Dynamo in all competitions. He is the fourth Dynamo player to reach 175 (Brad Davis, Brian Mullan, Corey Ashe).

Hainault on verge of 100 starts: Andre Hainault’s next start will be his 100th in all competitions for the Dynamo.

Cameron the Ironman: Geoff Cameron has started and played full time in 40 consecutive matches (playoffs included), the most among Houston field players. Cameron has played 3,576 consecutive minutes in MLS play (playoffs included), since he did not play on May 4, 2011 vs. Colorado. Goalkeeper Tally Hall leads all players with 43 consecutive starts. Brad Davis’ streak of 45 consecutive starts was broken at Chicago on April 15 due to a calf strain. Cameron’s streak could come to an end Saturday as he is in camp with the U.S. men’s national team.

Cameron Climbing: With Cameron’s start at New England on Saturday he reached 141 appearances in all competitions to pass Wade Barrett for seventh on all‐time list.

Boswell Milestone: Bobby Boswell’s start at New York on May 9 was his 150th Dynamo start in all competitions. He is the fifth Dynamo player to start 150 (Brad Davis, Pat Onstad, Brian Mullan, Brian Ching).

Corey Ashe made his 175th appearance for the Dynamo in all competitions at D.C. on April 28. He is the third Dynamo player to reach 175 appearances in all competitions (Brad Davis, Brian Mullan).

Brian Ching’s start against D.C. United on April 28 was his 150th start in all competitions for Houston to become the fourth Dynamo player to make 150 starts (Brad Davis, Pat Onstad, Brian Mullan).

Will Bruin scored in three consecutive games (4/15, 4/21, 4/28) to mark the fifth time a Dynamo player has scored in three consecutive games (Bruin 2012, Ching 2006, 2008; Joseph Ngwenya 2007; Stuart Holden 2009).

A Hundred for Hainault: Andre Hainault made his 100th Dynamo appearance in all competitions on April 21 at Columbus, becoming the 15th player to reach 100 appearances in franchise history.

The three goals allowed by the Dynamo on April 28 at D.C. United marked the first time Houston has allowed three goals in a game since Sept. 10, 2011, a 3‐0 loss at Sporting Kansas City. The Dynamo went 15 games without allowing three goals in that stretch.

Possession: Despite playing their first seven games on the road, the Dynamo have won the possession battle in eight of ten games on the season and had slim disadvantages in the others. Houston had a 62‐38% advantage at New England, 60% possession vs. Portland, 56% vs. D.C., 53% at New York, 54% at D.C., a slim 49‐51% disadvantage at Columbus, 55% at Chicago, 56% at Seattle, a narrow disadvantage (48‐52%) at San Jose, and 53% at Chivas USA.

First Road Win of 2012: Houston’s 1‐0 win over Chivas USA erased bad memories of the 2011 road schedule. It took Houston 16 games to record its first road win of the 2011 campaign. After a 0‐6‐9 start, the Dynamo defeated FC Dallas 1‐0 at Pizza Hut Park on September 24.

Six years after the club’s first match on April 2, 2006, only two players remain on the Dynamo roster: Brian Ching and Brad Davis. Defender Eddie Robinson retired in January and joined the front office as an assistant coach with the team’s Youth Academy and as a color analyst on TV broadcasts.

UP NEXT: U.S. OPEN CUP AT SAN ANTONIO SCORPIONS ON TUESDAY The Dynamo will play its first Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup match of the 2012 campaign on Tuesday at the San Antonio Scorpions (NASL). The third‐round match is set for 7:30 p.m. at Heroes Stadium in San Antonio.

English Television: NBC Sports Network with JP Dellacamera (play-by-play) and Brian Dunseth (analyst) Galaxy English Radio: KTLK 1150 AM with Joe Tutino (play-by-play) Galaxy Spanish Radio: KWKW 1330 AM with Rolando Gonzalez (play-by-play) and Armando Aguayo (analyst) WINLESS STREAK STRETCHES TO SIX: The Galaxy’s winless streak stretched to six games on Wednesday night with a 3-2 loss to the San Jose Earthquakes at The Home Depot Center. During the current streak, which started with a 1-1 draw with FC Dallas on April 28, the Galaxy are 0-4-2 and have been outscored 9-4. This is LA’s longest winless streak since a club record 12-game unbeaten streak during the 2008 season in which the club went 0-6-6.

AN MLS CUP REMATCH: Saturday’s game will be the first and only rematch of the last year’s MLS Cup between the Galaxy and the Dynamo. While the two sides have met at least twice in each of the first six years of the Dynamo’s existence, they will meet only once this year as part of the league’s unbalanced schedule. LA have not had much success in the past against the team that they beat to win MLS Cup, going just 1-3-1 in those five contests.

At home during the current streak, LA are 0-2-1, moving their record to 24-1 at home this season. One year after going undefeated at home in all competitions, the Galaxy have taken just seven of a possible 21 points at home and have allowed three goals or more three times, something that they did not do at all last season. Only twice since the end of the shootout to decide games after the 1999 season have the Galaxy lost more than four games in a single season at home.

In 2003, after beating the New England Revolution for their first MLS Cup title, the Galaxy went 1-1-1 against the Revs, losing in their return to Gillette Stadium while claiming a win and a draw at The Home Depot Center.

LOSING IT LATE: Wednesday’s loss to San Jose was the first time that the Galaxy had lost a regular season game in which they entered stoppage time tied or with the lead since the final game of the 2007 season. On that day, the Galaxy needed a win over the Fire to qualify for the postseason, only to fall 1-0 behind a John Thorrington goal in the 93rd minute.

Three years later, after beating New England again for their second MLS Cup title, the Galaxy were swept by the Revs, losing 1-0 at home and 4-0 on the road. Of the 12 players who played for LA in MLS Cup last season, only seven could see the field on Saturday. Josh Saunders remains unavailable while Landon Donovan, who scored the game-winning goal against the Dynamo last year, and Robbie Keane are each on international duty while Omar Gonzalez is on the Disabled List recovering from knee surgery and Chris Birchall now plays for the Columbus Crew.

QUITE A DEBUT: Hector Jimenez had a memorable first appearance of 2012, scoring a goal and then getting sent off. Jimenez, who started on the right side of midfield, scored three minutes into the game to give LA a 1-0 lead off a setup by Juninho and Chad Barrett. That goal was the first of his MLS career and came in just the second start of his MLS career and the first of those to come at home,

A NEW PLACE TO PLAY: Saturday’s game at BBVA Compass Stadium will be the Galaxy’s first-ever game at Houston’s new home, which opened earlier this month. The Dynamo are 1-0-1 since the stadium opened, beating D.C. United in the inaugural game before playing to a 00 draw with Portland.

However, just 14 minutes into the second half, Jimenez was shown a straight red card by referee Jair Marrufo for a foul on Steven Beitashour. That was the first red card of his career and the second shown to a Galaxy player in as many games. On Friday, Jimenez had a second game added to his suspension by the MLS Disciplinary Committee, meaning that he will miss Saturday’ game in Houston and the June 17 game against Portland.

BBVA Compass Stadium will be the 39th different stadium that the Galaxy play a regular season game in since the start of MLS in 1996. Alltime, LA are 16-15-7 in their first game at a new stadium, including a 1-1 draw with Montreal at Olympic Stadium two weeks ago and a 1-1-1 record last season, when they beat Vancouver 4-0 at Empire Field, lost 3-0 to the Portland Timbers at JELD-WEN Field and drew 2-2 at LIVESTRONG Sporting Park.

Jimenez became the first Galaxy player to score a goal and be sent off in the same regular season game since Carlos Ruiz did almost nine years ago on May 24, 2003 in a 2-1 loss at Kansas City.

The Galaxy still have two more stadiums to play in for the first time this season, debuting at Stanford Stadium against San Jose on June 30 and at BC Place against Vancouver on July 17.

A FAST START FINALLY: After failing to score in the opening 15 minutes of either half through their first 11 games of the season, the Galaxy took a 1-0 lead after just three minutes of Wednesday’s loss to San Jose. That goal was the fastest that the Galaxy scored since Chris Birchall scored just two minutes into a 2-2 draw with Toronto FC on June 11, 2011.

This will be the third different stadium that the Galaxy play at in Houston, going 2-3-2 at Robertson Stadium and 1-0-0 at Reliant Stadium, playing there in front of a crowd of 70,550, the third biggest ever to see a Galaxy regular season game, in August 2006.

BACK ON THE SCORESHEET: Mike Magee scored his first goal of the season on Wednesday, giving LA a 2-0 lead in the 73rd minute. Magee has now scored in each of his last two games against the Earthquakes with both goals coming at home. Magee, who scored LA’s first goal in official goal of the season against Toronto FC in the Champions League on March 7, leads the team with 27 shots on the season, though just six of those have been on goal. LA are now 15-2-7 in all competitions when Magee scores a goal or records and assist. He now has 17 goals since joining the club ahead of the start of the 2009 season. David Beckham was credited with the assist on the goal, giving him a team-high three assists on the season. He has assisted on nine of the 14 goals that Magee has scored in MLS competition since joining the club, assisting on five in the regular season and four more in the postseason.

BECKS GETS THE ARMBAND: With Landon Donovan and Robbie Keane each away on international duty, David Beckham wore the captain’s armband for the first time this season on Wednesday night. LA’s captain for the second half of the 2007 season and all of the 2008 campaign, Beckham has started 35 regular season games as the LA captain since joining the club. However, he has not experienced much success in those games, compiling just a 7-15-13 record. SLOW STARTERS: The Galaxy have not scored a goal in the first 15 minutes of either half this season. After scoring 10 of their 48 goals last season early in halves last season, LA have been shutout in those stretches this season. Additionally, the Galaxy have failed to score in the first half of eight of their 11 games this season, tallying just four goals in that time. st

LA’s fastest goal this season is a 21 minute own goal by Marvell Wynne st in the 21 minute of the 2-1 win at Colorado on April 21. Their fastest th non-own goal is Landon Donovan’s strike in the 39 minute of that game.

LA GALAXY GAME NOTES – May 26, 2012 MORE LINEUP CHANGES: With Chad Barrett, David Beckham, Edson Buddle, Bryan Gaul and Hector Jimenez all coming into the starting lineup on Wednesday night against San Jose, Galaxy head coach Bruce Arena has now made at least one change to his starting lineup in every regular season game that the Galaxy have played this season. Additionally, only once in those 12 games have LA been forced to make less than two changes to their starting lineup from one game to the next. That trend could continue on Saturday afternoon as Arena will have to make at least one change with Jimenez suspended for his red card in the second half against San Jose. The last time the Galaxy used the same lineup in consecutive regular season games was May 1 and May 7 last season when LA lost 2-1 at FC Dallas and then drew 1-1 with New York. A total of 26 different players have started for the Galaxy this season, including Paolo Cardozo who was traded to Chivas USA last month, and Jimenez who made his first start of the year on Wedneday. That leaves a total of six players; Rafael Garcia, Omar Gonzalez, Leonardo, Jack McBean, Jose Villarreal and Kenney Walker; that have not appeared in a game this season. Of that group, only Garcia, Villarreal and Walker are yet to play in an MLS game. STILL NO SHUTOUTS: One year after tying an MLS record with 17 clean sheets in 34 games, the Galaxy are still looking for their first of 2012. The defense has been solid of late, allowing exactly one goal in every game but one since the start of April, but San Jose was able to score three times in the final 14 minutes plus stoppage time to overturn a 2-0 deficit and win 3-2. This was the first time since March 31 that LA had allowed more than one goal at home and the first time since the season opener against Real Salt Lake on March 10 that the Galaxy had scored first, only to lose the game. LA kept the Earthquakes off the scoreboard for 76 minutes, taking a 2-0 lead before Steven Lenhart headed home a Marvin Chavez corner kick. This was the second longest spell that LA has gone this season without allowing a goal at the start of the game. The only time the Galaxy got closer to a clean sheet was on March 18 when they kept D.C. United off the scoreboard until the 87th minute. BECKHAM ON THE BRINK: David Beckham is now one yellow card away from serving a mandatory one-game suspension after being shown his fourth yellow card of the year for a handball late in the 3-2 loss to San Jose on Wednesday. Beckham, who led the Galaxy with 10 yellow cards last season, has been booked in each of the last four games that he has started after not being shown a yellow card in any of his first five games of the year. Since coming to the Galaxy in July 2007, Beckham has been booked a total of 24 times in 84 regular season games. He has missed three regular season games because of yellow card accumulation as well as one CONCACAF Champions League game, with LA going 3-1-0 in those three games, including a 2-0-0 record last season, recording road wins in Chicago and Vancouver without Beckham. LA also won in Chicago in 2009 with Beckham serving a one-game suspension for a red card, meaning that they are 4-1-0 in games that he has been suspended for. Juninho and Landon Donovan each have three yellow cards this season and are now two bookings away from their fifth caution of the season. SAUNDERS BACK IN TRAINING: Nearly a month after taking a leave of absence from the club to enter the league’s Substance Abuse and Behavioral Health program, Josh Saunders was back training with the Galaxy on Monday. LA’s first choice goalkeeper started the first six games of the season, helping the team to a 3-3-0 record. Saunders has played in 35 games since debuting for the Galaxy in 2008, compiling an 18-8-7 record with 11 shutouts and a 1.15 goals against average. BOYENS UNDERGOES SURGERY: Galaxy defender Andrew Boyens underwent successful surgery on Wednesday to repair a sports hernia and is expected to miss 4-6 weeks. The New Zealand international was placed on the Disabled List on May 18 because of the injury and will have to miss at least LA’s next four regular season games, having already missed the last two. He last saw action for the club in a Reserve League game against San Jose on May

8, playing 45 minutes in central defense after replacing Leonardo at halftime of that game. He has appeared in two regulars season games for the club, but none since a 3-1 home loss to New England on March 31. While he is not eligible to return to action for the club until Saturday, June 30 at San Jose, he can play in U.S. Open Cup and MLS Reserve League games before then. THE MAN IN THE MIDDLE: For the first time this season, Silviu Petrescu will serve as the referee for a Galaxy game as he takes charge of Saturday’s game in Houston. Petrescu officiated two Galaxy regular season games last season, serving as the referee for LA’s 0-0 home draw with D.C. United and the 1-0 win in Columbus on September 24. He called 57 fouls in those two games, whistling the Galaxy for 25 compared to 32 for their opponents. He did not award any penalty kicks or give any red cards in those games, but he did hand out two yellow cards to Galaxy players and five to the opposition. Petrescu will be assisted on Saturday by George Ganser and Adam Garner with Jasen Anno serving as the fourth official. DONOVAN INCLUDED IN FINAL U.S. SQUAD: Galaxy captain Landon Donovan was one of 23 players named to Jurgen Klinsmann’s final squad for the U.S. National Team’s upcoming friendlies against Scotland, Brazil and Canada as well as the start of CONCACAF World Cup Qualifying at home against Antigua and in Guatemala. The all-time leading scorer for the U.S. with 46 goals in 138 appearances for his country, Donovan is expected to rejoin his club following the game in Guatemala on June 12. Donovan, who is the all-time leader for the U.S. with 35 appearances in World Cup Qualifiers, last played for his country in September 2011, playing the full 90 minutes in a 1-0 loss to Costa Rica at The Home Depot Center. He was included in the U.S. roster for their friendlies against Panama and Italy in February, but he was forced to withdraw from the squad because of bronchitis. With his next start, Donovan, who is 26 caps behind Cobi Jones for the most in U.S. history, will move past Jeff Agoos into first place for the most starts for the National Team with 125. He is one of three players away on international duty with Robbie Keane currently with the Irish National Team ahead of the start of the European Championships in Poland and the Ukraine while Jack McBean is with the U.S. Under-18 National Team at the Lisbon International Tournament in Portugal. All three are scheduled to be in action on Saturday with the U.S. hosting Scotland in a friendly, Ireland hosting Bosnia and Herzegovina in a friendly and the U.S. U-18’s facing Portugal in their final game of their competition. McBean is scheduled to be back with the club on Sunday ahead of the U.S. Open Cup Third Round match with Carolina while Keane will return to Southern California following Ireland’s involvement in Euro 2012. Ireland open play in Group C against Croatia on Sunday, June 10 in Poznan, Poland. They are back in action on Thursday, June 14 when they face the reigning World Cup and European Champions, Spain, in Gdansk, Poland before returning to Poznan for their final Group Stage game against Italy on Monday, June 18. All three games are schedule to kick off at 11:45 a.m. (PT). GALAXY TO FACE CAROLINA IN OPEN CUP THIRD ROUND: The Galaxy will begin their quest for a third Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup championship on Tuesday, May 29 when they take on the NASL’s Carolina RailHawks in the tournament’s Third Round. The RailHawks, who are currently in last place in the NASL with a 0-4-5 record for five points, will host that game, starting at 4 p.m. (PT) at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, N.C. This will be the first-ever game between the two sides. The Galaxy, who won the Open Cup in 2002 and 2005, have been eliminated from the competition at the Quarterfinal stage in each of the last two seasons, losing on the road to the eventual tournament champion Seattle Sounders FC both years. They have not lost to a nonMLS team in the competition since 2007 and have reached the quarterfinals nine times in the first 13 years in which they have entered the competition. TIME CHANGE IN SEATTLE: LA’s game at Seattle on Saturday, August 5 will now kick off at 6 p.m. (PT). The game, which will be shown on ESPN2 and ESPN Deportes, was originally scheduled to kick off at 7 p.m.
