ART WALK IN SAN JOSE San Jose del Cabo Art Walk is a popular weekly event held every Thursday evening from 5-9 pm, between the months of June-October. This event was established, promoted, and organized by the Gallery District Association in the hopes of drawing art lovers and tourists away from the main square and into our color-filled back streets located behind the church. Every Thursday the main street is closed to car traffic in order to best accommodate all of the visitors. Come enjoy an evening stroll through the Gallery District, visiting the Art

Galleries, sipping wine, and dining in our neighborhood restaurants. Often galleries will have special events such as “artist in attendance” or openings of new exhibitions.

RUM MUSEUM A visit to El Museo del Ron Havana Club is worth your time while in Havana. The museum is well set up with very good exhibits and guided tours in multiple languages. At the end of the tour a drink is included and in the courtyard you can observe a man juicing sugarcane right before your eyes. Cuba prides itself on its rum and they have created a great facility to celebrate it.

HEMINGWAY ROUTES A highly demanded Route in Cuba, mainly by American visitors, is linked with the writer Ernest Hemingway. He declared himself as “a short Cuban” and lived on the island for 20 years leaving a notorious mark in may places of the country. This list is full of places that are liked with his spirituality and execution, some very well known and others remembered only by a few people. The list includes Havana Bay, ancient Havana, the Ambos mundos Hotel, the restaurant-bar Floridita, the Cojimar Yards, Beer shop Hatuey, the Hemingway marina, the vigia Property, and the Megano and Coco Cay.

CITY TOUR IN CLASSIC CARS Enjoy Havana’s beauty, it’s architecture, and charm in a classic American car. This panoramic ride around the city can confirm the colonial ambiance from the XVI century. Havana of old is full of history and gorgeous colonial buildings. Also enjoy a panoramic view along the shore heading to the Morro Cabaña that offers magnificent views of the city. Continue the drive to Miramar, an elegant area with great mansions that now host many embassies. Then head back to the Revolution plaza, an important place in Havana because of it’s contemporary history. Don’t worry you will have time to take many pictures.

Great for getting oriented around Cuba's capital, Havana. More than 60 stops and 3 interesting routes from the capital’s eastern and western whereabouts, including the historic Plaza de la Revolución José Martí and Parque Central.

DOMINICAN REPUBLIC Humpback whales are prepared to leave the cold waters of the great north, and to make an extraordinary journey. Some are already "on the move". Each year, there are several thousands that come to the warm and calm waters of the Caribbean in order to mate or to give birth. They come to the Bay of Samana, considered one of the best places in the world to observe them, between mid-January to the end of March. Marine mammals breathe air and to that end, although they can remain under water for up to forty minutes, they regularly rise to the surface. After their long trip journey south they spend part of the winter in our region.

12

JARABACOA- MOUNTAIN TOURISM The city of Jarabacoa is located in a central mountain range. Jarabacoa rises on a high plateau of 525 meters. There are three main rivers that pass through Jarabacoa: El Yaque del Norte, Jimenoa, and Baiguate. The municipality also has two impressive waterfalls: the Salto de Jimenoa and Salto Baiguate. This is also the main access road to Pico Duarte.

DOMINICAN CARNIVAL Carnival is a feast where an old god is worshiped who

is actually a devil of satan, an opera buffa that has the street as stage and the town as actor and protagonist. In the Dominican Republic it is possible to distinguish two general types of carnival. Carnestolenda, comes from Spain and is celebrated before the beginning of Lent but over time has become more associated to the national

COSTA RICA Dress code: Shorts & flip-flops! When planning your incentive trip to Costa Rica you will be happy to learn that our country has an all year average temperature of 79o F (26o C) at the lowlands and coastal

areas, which is where most of the resort developments are located; so you will only need to pack your favorite swimsuits, lounge clothes, and shorts because our weather is always perfect for so many activities year round! Even our rainy season, which is from May to November, is usually characterized by sunny mornings and rainy afternoons, so very likely you will still have time to pack your mornings with exciting adventures without the rain interfering‌ or just to play it safe you can opt to plan for rain as part of the fun?

14

Isn’t it great that in Costa Rica outdoor fun is always in season? There are so many things you can choose from! Being in front of the ocean you will not be able to resist the call of the sea: jump on a jet ski to ride waves, experience the feeling of getting the catch of the day (and maybe even tasting it later at the hotel), or how about finally crossing something from your bucket list by learning how to surf? There will even be time to relax on a sunset sailing tour where you will observe dolphins, turtles, and other sea animals while savoring delicious meals and dancing to steel drums or the rhythms of calypso music. If you rather stay on land, how about some canopy, horseback riding, ATV's, water slides, thermal waters, and trails? Also in Costa Rica you can even visit an active Volcano! Our country is blessed with wonderful weather year round and so our infrastructure has grown to cater the many visitors looking for warmth. In Costa Rica you will always find knowledgeable English speaking staff who strive to make your stay as warm and as pleasant as an afternoon sunset on the ocean front! But please, don’t just read about it, come and experience it yourself. Our IVI DMC2 staff looks forward to meeting you soon!

PANAMA The climate of Panama is tropical and although it's a country that is not on the equator, it's situated inside the thermal Equator and rain gauge. You can differentiate two areas or climatic regions in Panama: the coast washed by the Caribbean Sea and the Pacific Ocean coast. As most tropical

climates, Panama has two seasons throughout the year; the rainy season, from April until December, and the dry season, from December to March. Certainly thought the dry season here is not as rigorous as it can be in other tropical countries. The Caribbean coast of Panama tends to have more irregular weather predictions during the dry season compared to the Pacific coastland of Panama.

16

WHALE WATCHING Between June and November, many families of humpback whales - on their journey between the North and South poles - can be spotted in the Panamanian Pacific waters. For this reason, the coasts and archipelagos of Panama become a popular tourist destination for visitors who want to witness this extraordinary sight of nature.

CARNIVAL Panama Carnivals, are celebrated during the four days prior to Ash Wednesday. These festivals end with the traditional sardine burial. The festivities of

the "Carnavales" begin in the mornings with the "mojaderas" or "culecos" that are made in public and private squares by truck tanks that spray river water during

accompanied of popular music. Then at night the parades are beautified by dressed up queens. In the year 2010 Panama celebrated its 100th year anniversary of Carnavales in the capital city.

WATER ACTIVITIES Different water activities have been developed over the past years in Panama, cultural exchange has allowed a development of them. Rafting, surfing, ocean kayaking,

18

FISHING SEASON Panama has logged over 146 world fishing records, including species like wahoo, black merlin, swordfish, and others. Panama has outstanding facilities in the waters of

the Pacific Ocean, Caribbean Sea, and Lake Gatun, undoubtedly giving to amateurs and professionals the opportunity to immerse themselves in the coral bottoms of clear waters, where there are many octopus, squid, crabs, shrimps, eels, and a variety of fish.

PERITO MORENO GLACIER The Perito Moreno Glacier is one of the glaciers in Los Glaciares National Park, that expands some 17,000 kilometers and is considered one of the most important potable water reserves in the world. Its front is 5 km wide and more than 60 mt2 above sea level. The last

break occurred in March 2004. Starting from the year 1879, when it was first sighted, the Glacier had different denominations until in 1899 it received its rightful name Perito Moreno, in honor to the great Argentine naturalist Francisco Pascasio Moreno. This exceptional Argentine scientist dedicated his life to the exploration of Patagonia, his work being essential for the definitive demarcation of the southern border between Chile and Argentina. Why does it come off? The break and detachment of the Perito Moreno Glacier is a natural phenomenon that occurs every two or four years, approximately. The process begins when the glacier, located in one of the arms of Lake Argentino, advances to the tip of the Magellan peninsula covering the water drainage channels. This cut causes a considerable increase of the level of the water, approximately 20 mt2, that quickly begins to exert a

strong pressure on the front of the glacier. Thus it begins to fracture and then culminates with the detachment of huge blocks of ice.

21

A CLOSER LOOK AT THE GLACIER To get a closer look at the glacer, we enter the national park Los Glaciares and we go to the lookout where the bay Under the Shadowsis located. This is the location for the taking off on the nautical safari and other excursions that leave from here. As the catamaran advances, they

appreciate the icebergs floating on the glacier as they float along the glistening waters. Everyone is surprised by the small glacier breaks that are anticipated with a noise like an explosion that immediately moves our eyes to glance at the place where it occurred. When approaching the southern end of the TĂŠmpanos Channel, the ship is

located at a prudential distance from the front of the glacier and begins to travel throughout its length. At this point, most of the visitors trying to capture with their cameras part of the show described above. The silence and expectation to witness a detachment dominate all those present. Thanks to this lacustrine excursion, suitable for the

whole family, the fantastic blue tones and the whimsical forms of the Perito Moreno are discovered in all their magnitude. And for those who are encouraged to do a little more, there exists the option of walking the glaciers. This thrilling reality that can be lived through any of the excursions organized by the firm Ice and Adventure. Whether Big Ice or minitrekking, both allow you to enjoy this beautiful soft ice from within.

22

VILLA GENERAL BELGRANO (CORDOBA) A Central European town that thousands of tourists visit every year especially during the month of October for the Oktoberfest Argentina, National Beer Festival, as well as during Easter for the National Feast of the Viennese

Mass and the Alpine Chocolate Festival. During the rest of the year, Villa General Belgrano is sought after for rest and to enjoy the sun, sierras, crossing its beautiful rivers, streams, and especially during the cold season people love to come to savor a rich hot chocolate and cakes.

23

THE GREATEST SUMMER SHOW IN ARGENTINA Thousands of people every night of the carnival dance to the rhythm of the comparsas, at one of the best carnivals in the world. With all the power behind the history of a city, they tend to beat more strongly to the beat of the carnival. Batucadas begin to set the pace since September and explode to the max during the nights of January and February. Thousands of members between feathers and sequins make every night an unforgettable experience.

24

Vienna – Austria Vienna is the greatest city, cultural and political center of Austria and because it is one of the oldest capitals in Europe it has an important artistic heritage. In 1857, the walls were demolished by the decree of Franz Joseph I of Austria, opening a new avenue, the Ringstraße, where important buildings such as the Opera, University, City Hall, Parliament, the Stock Exchange and the art and natural history museums were built. Vienna is located in a transition zone between the humid temperate continental climate and humid climate so winters are very cold and summers are mild and wet. The official language in Austria is German.

Vienna's main sights are:  Belvedere Palace  Schonbrunn Palace  Hofburg Palace  Vienna State Opera  St. Stephen's Cathedral  Museum of Art History

Did you know?   

Vienna has one of the largest emeralds in the world, in the collection of the Imperial Treasury in the Hofburg Palace. It is a 2,205 carat emerald. The Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna rejected Hitler as a painter when he was young. The typical snowball souvenir was accidentally invented in Vienna. In 1900, Erwin Perzy trying to create a light bulb ended up putting the Basilica of Mariazell in the center and creating snow with rice. Presently the factory is managed by his family. Vienna is known as the city of dreams and music thanks to Sigmund Freud, Strauss, Schubert, Mozart, Beethoven, and Brahms among other great personages.

Travel Tip: Contemplate Some of my most creative ideas come to me when I’m flying. Sometimes I think this is because - at 30,000 feet above the earth - I’m closer to the source of all creation. Consider your time in the air as a retreat from the problems you face on the ground. Use this time for some clear thinking and long-range planning. Or, instead of constantly concerning yourself about “when are we going to get there?” try meditation. Many people think meditation is something that takes years of grueling daily practice high on some far away mountain. On the contrary, meditation can be a quick and easy way of taking a calming inner journey or of getting your mind off something and moving it toward a more positive and relaxing place. To do this, close your eyes and either focus on your breathing or a pleasant memory, such as walking in the woods, playing with your dog, lying in a hammock, whatever. When you feel more relaxed, reopen your eyes. On a plane, you can pick up more and better people than on any other public conveyance since the stagecoach.— Art Buchwald (Taken from page 163) James Feldman, (a.k.a.
