TravelTip: Easing the Fear •
Stop those thoughts. Your mind can either be your greatest asset in overcoming your fear of flying or your greatest enemy. When the plane encounters some turbulence, for example, instead of thinking about every bump, consider all the people at amusement parks who are spending their money to be bounced around on rides. Image the joy children have on roller coasters and vividly see their exuberant smiling faces in your mind.

Snap out of it. Before you get on a plane, put a rubber band on your wrist. When you have a negative thought about flying, snap the rubber band as a reminder to change your way of thinking.

Distract yourself. During the flight, divert your attention away from your fears with a good book, a good conversation, or the in-flight movie. (Taken from page 179) James Feldman, (a.k.a.
