HOW TO PLAN

THE PERFECT ROAD TRIP by Amina Moustapha

There’s a special romance and fun attached to hitting the open road with loved ones on board, carrying high hopes for a journey rich with vivid sights, tasty food, and bonding with pals. Planning road trips, where you take a long car ride and hit many stops on the way, present their own set of challenges (and opportunities). Here are a few things you should keep in mind to plan yourself and your friends the perfect road trip. MAKE SURE YOUR RIDE IS READY First things first, right? You don’t want to ruin it all and end up with a flat tire in the middle of nowhere. Make sure that your vehicle is in primo condition. Check your vehicle’s vital fluids. Pack jumper cables to jump-start your battery in case it dies. Last but not least, make sure you have all the proper tools you need to change a flat tire in your trunk, and that your spare tire is ready to rumble. PACK SMARTLY Don’t ruin the pleasure of the road by loading the car with unneeded stuff, and then sit all jammed up the whole trip! Pack smartly. And don’t forget snacks, what’s a road trip without food? Bring a cooler of finger foods, cheese sticks, roasted nuts, and indulgent treats like a bar of your favourite chocolate. BRING ALONG ANY ENTERTAINMENT THAT YOU’LL NEED If you’re the type of person who likes to spend hours in the car simply talking, sharing thoughts, listening to the radio, and watching the scenery, then you don’t need to bring much. All you need is a good playlist, and an auxiliary jack to play music. If you will be a passenger for part of the trip, bring something to occupy yourself with when the conversation dies down: a book, a journal, a game or a puzzle. PICK THE RIGHT COMPANION The tip that can make or break your trip! The thing about road trips is that they lack the luxury of

airplanes and the speed of trains. So after a few hours, even if the scenery is breathtaking, you will get used to it! Your back will start to ache, and all what will matter then is the company. Pick the kind of people who click with you, who never allow boredom to crack through their happy mood, who don’t nag, or complain. Pick someone who has your same adventurous spirit. DESIGNATE ROLES Now that we have established who should be on the road with you, let’s put them to work. To stay organized, designate together roles to each person. One person in charge of the playlist, one person in charge of snacks, one in charge of the direction, etc.; this way you’ll be able to share responsibilities and ensure the trip goes as smoothly as possible. ALLOW FOR SPONTANEITY You’re on this trip to have fun, right? So allow it! Keep in mind that being spontaneous is part of the fun, so allow time for freedom into the route. Stop to have lunch in a place you’ve never heard of but looks fun. Stop at the roadside attraction. If you drive alongside the sea, stop to breathe in the salty air. A road trip is all about the road, not the destination. So make each moment count. July 2021 • IDENTITY 13

5TH EDITION OF THE PRINTEMPS DES ARTISTES SUPPORTED BY TAMEER From May 27 to 29, the 5th edition of LE PRINTEMPS DES ARTISTES CAIRO (PDA) took place at Darb 1718 gallery, under the patronage of the French Ambassador to Egypt. This 5th edition was supported by a number of Egyptian and multinational sponsors, including TAMEER, the real estate developer that “builds around people”. We met Mrs. Isabelle GILISTRO, President of the Organizing Committee of PDA, and Mr. Antoine EL KHOURY, Managing Director of TAMEER, and had a casual conversation about the shared values of both PDA and TAMEER. Isabelle, can you tell us the story of LE PRINTEMPS DES ARTISTES? How did it start and what are its objectives?

Can you tell us more about the artists you are featuring and the charity project you are supporting?

LE PRINTEMPS DES ARTISTES is an initiative that combines art and charity and takes place in two countries so far. This initiative was created in 2006 in Istanbul for the Peace Hospital in partnership with the Lycée Sainte Pulchérie. Thereafter it was taken up in Cairo in 2015 by two French expatriate ladies. It aims to promote Egyptian art through showcasing Egyptian artists. Funds collected from the sale of the artworks as well as the sponsors are allocated to financially support a charity cause in Egypt. The exhibition couldn’t take place in 2020 due to the pandemic. We have decided this year, with a new organizing committee, to take over the initiative and bring it back to life. This is a beautiful legacy that we would like to preserve and pass down to generations of expatriates, so we can give back to the Egyptian society some of the love and friendship that the warm people of Egypt are showing us in our expat life.

This year, we have exhibited around 250 artworks created by 35 Egyptian artists. Some of the artists are internationally renowned and others are young talents. This combination of contemporary paintings and sculptures meets the expectations of a wide audience of simple art lovers as well as informed collectors, and gives the opportunity to young artists to promote their work and talent. It also offers a wide range of prices that encourages visitors to buy art and support the charity project. This year again, we have dedicated our exhibition to the “Samu Social International”, a French NGO that takes care of street children in Cairo since 2008.

14 IDENTITY • July 2021

I would like to take this opportunity to express our gratitude to His Excellency, Monsieur Stéphane ROMATET, Ambassador of France to Egypt, who has placed our initiative under his patronage, and to our sponsors, who have shown us again their usual generosity and their constant support for our cause.

Antoine, what makes a real estate developer want to be part of an art and humanitarian initiative such as LE PRINTEMPS DES ARTISTES? There are many values that TAMEER shares with LE PRINTEMPS DES ARTISTES which attracted us to join hands with the ladies of PDA and fellow sponsors to make this initiative successful. This initiative was launched and managed by four ladies who have demonstrated the crucial role of women in building a better and more humane society. This is very much aligned with the values of TAMEER, where women empowerment and gender equality have been practiced naturally and organically over the decades, and are still promoted today in the day-to-day management of the company. Moreover, as a listed company with a majority of foreign shareholders and many foreign directors, we acknowledge our role towards building a better Egypt and our responsibility to give back to the Egyptian society. Together with the PDA ladies, who also are expatriates, we acknowledge the talent of Egyptian artists and admire how deep art and culture are anchored in the history of this country. Most importantly, we believe in the human values that stand behind the artistic side of this initiative. LE PRINTEMPS DES ARTISTES is not an empty event that only exhibits the esthetics of artworks. It’s also not an initiative that aims to generate revenues only for the sake of money. This is art for a cause. Behind art, stand human values, a noble initiative that aims to promote artists and offer a better life to Egyptian children. As TAMEER celebrates its 67th anniversary, we reflect on what gives meaning to our work, in this real world that is made of humans and communities. Some would say that we build walls. Behind those walls, life actually takes place every day; people’s lives, family stories, love and happiness, dreams and hopes. And in the middle of our daily tasks, beyond organization and discipline, we also invest ourselves, our values and our passion, for people and for life, for beauty and for architecture, for sustainability, to deliver spaces where people can

live, love, dream and create. This is the main value that we share with LE PRINTEMPS DES ARTISTES. What are the benefits that TAMEER has received from its collaboration with LE PRINTEMPS DES ARTISTES? This project reminded us what we are and who we are. We are “Business People” and, while we dedicate our talents and hard work to achieve business success, we remember that we are people, with our own values and responsibilities toward the society. We remember that behind facts and figures, there should be passion; there should be a cause, a purpose. This is how we contribute to building a society that is human and fair. I was amazed to see how our team engaged with this project; how the staff members adopted the cause of LE PRINTEMPS DES ARTISTES and offered passion and dedication in helping and supporting, before and during the exhibition. This project gave us the opportunity to promote TAMEER values within the team, naturally and by example. I hope this collaboration will become a tradition and we will be able to do more projects with PDA. Isabelle, what would be your last word? What are the future plans of LE PRINTEMPS DES ARTISTES? The feedback we have received from our sponsors and from the visitors of the exhibition is very encouraging. We feel that LE PRINTEMPS DES ARTISTES brings something new to the Egyptian society through the combination of our two objectives, the promotion of art and the support of a humanitarian cause. In the years to come, we will let the PDA concept evolve based on the experiences and feedback received so far. We will definitely make sure that the event always fulfills the expectations of our generous donors and art lovers, the standards of our supportive sponsors and partners as well as the needs of the underprivileged communities in our beloved host country.

LE PRINTEMPS DES ARTISTE 2021 was sponsored by: Official Partner: French Embassy in Egypt. Gold sponsors: TAMEER, Schneider Electric, Matouk Bassiouny, SEB, SOLAR TURBINES, Best Cheese Lactalis, BEL. Silver and bronze sponsors: Credit Agricole, Air Liquide, Dassault Aviation, Engie, ETF, L’Oréal, Premium Card, Total, Veolia, Carrefour, Arcelor Mittal, Al Ahram Beverages, Egybev Jardin du Ni, GG & GRACE. Charity Project: Samu Social International Egypt.

According to your Hairstyle, HERE’S the Braid YOU SHOULD Rock! by Aya Aboshady

1

Braids add a really fun twist to everyday mundane hairstyles, but not all braids suit all the different hair types and styles. From the short soft curls to the long waves, the straight and the really curly hair; braid styles varry according to the hair type. Therefore; we’re here to guide you through all that and tell you which braid you should go for based on your original hairstyle.

DOUBLE DUTCH BRAID Want to go a little fancy with your long or mid-length hair? Then, there’s nothing better than creating the Double Dutch Braid the Kim Kardashian way, and it doesn’t matter what your hair type is! From university to the club and even the beach; the best thing about this hairstyle is that you could go anywhere with it and look like the fanciest fierce queen ever!

2

WATERFALL BRAID This one is definitely made for the REALLY long-haired women out there. Because if you want to keep it down and straighten it with a twist, you’ve got to try side-braiding a chunk of it in order to make your hair look like an actual waterfall!

TUCKED-AWAY HEADBAND BRAID

3

The Headband Braid looks beautiful on curly-haired women! It’s so chic and laid-back at the same time. All you have to do is section a side-part of your hair in the front along your hairline, braid it and show off your curls!

5

BOHO WAVES AND BRAID

FISHTAIL

4

For all the stunning wavyhaired women, whether it’s long or short; the Boho Waves and Braid is a very pretty hairstyle. All you need to do is create a messy loose braid on the side and you’re good to go!

REVERSE BRAID BUN

Who said short-haired women can’t rock a Fishtail Braid? Whether your hair is straight, wavy or even curly; you could easily pull up a chunk in the middle of your hair, right behind your ear, and turn it into a half up-half down fishtail!

Having a boring day at home and want to play a little with your mid-length hair? A Reverse Braid Bun is the answer! And it’s easy to do. Just flip your hair upside-down and braid it as you normally would but in that direction, and pull it up in a bun!

FRENCH BRAID If you have long straight hair, then a French Braid is definitely what you’re going to rock! And the best thing about this braid type is that it works for a normal outing, a college morning or even a night out with friends.

Summer

MAKEUP TRENDS by Omnia Essawy

Makeup is more than just pretty colours and glittery looks. It is a statement. And in preparation for the summer season, you have to choose the statement that will best express who you are through sunny beach days and wild summer nights. To help you choose the statement that suits you best, we gathered for you the best and most glamorous makeup trends of the year to choose from.

Dewy & Glowy This year, matte is out and glow is back in. The look of the year this year -and hopefully every year- is the healthy ultra-natural glow that highlights all your best features without looking dolled up. To achieve this look, you’ll want to stay away from powder highlighters and stick to liquid or cream luminizers on your cheekbones, brow bone, forehead and Cupid’s bow.

18 IDENTITY • July 2021

Artistic Liner If you can’t give up your signature “black eyeliner” look, but still want to revamp your look for the summer, this makeup trend is the answer to all your beauty prayers. Playing artistically with your usual black eyeliner will give your look a whole new mystical pop and will help you feel runwayready all summer long.

Glittery and Bejeweled Eyes Stained Lips This originally SouthKorean makeup trend is taking over EVERYWHERE this year, and we are very thankful for it. The stained or tainted lips, or “bitten lips” as some like to refer to it, has managed to combine the playfulness of the lip gloss, the mystery of the matte lipstick, and the effortlessness of the bare lips. And as a bonus, it is the easiest look to achieve because you’d be literally smudging up your lipstick on purpose.

Nothing says “ready for a beach/ pool party” on a summer night better than a hint of glitter, or in that case, a lot of it. Applying glittery or extra shimmery eye shadow to your eyelids, or just dressing your eyes with some jewels, gives your eyes a touch of starlight, while adding some playfulness and sheer joy to your whole makeup look.

Sun -kissed

So, bronzers are back in the game. And it looks as though they’re here to take over. This year the go-to look for summer outings or beach days will be the sun-kissed warm look. I.e. LOADS of bronzer. To capture the “slightly tanned” look, use your favourite shade of warm-coloured bronzer liberally on your cheeks, nose, and eyelids. For an extra pop, you can mix your bronzer with an orangey-brown or a peachy blush and eye shadow for your cheeks and eyes.

WHAT SHOULD YOUR Beach Tote HAVE ?

SUNSCREEN

If sunscreen isn’t the first thing to hit your mind whenever you read the word “beach”, we seriously don’t know what is! This is a small reminder so you don’t forget adding it to your tote.

by Rawda Hisham

Nothing beats a relaxing day at the beach with a cool refreshing summer cocktail, right? Now that it’s July, everyone is heading directly to the beach to enjoy the luminous climate and soak up the sunny rays. However, a tote with missing items is capable of spoiling the splashy day you’ve been preparing for. So whether you’re staying until sunset or just for a couple of hours, we made sure we’ve rounded up all the tote essentials you may need. Just be ready because you’re about to set the beach on fire!

A SMALL POUCH

This would be useful if you want to go for a quick swim but don’t know where to leave your phone, keys, wallet and beach accessories, or are afraid they’d get lost in your extrasized beach bag. A small cute pouch will keep them safe and accessible.

SUN-SAFE LIP BALM

Lips can be very sensitive to direct sunrays, so do your lips a favour and protect them by using a water-resistant lip balm. Sunburned lips were never a good thing, make sure you keep them moisturized and all-day glossy!

Muun

GOOD-SIZED BEACH TOWEL

Victoria’s Secret

This can safely be considered as the most indispensible item in your beach tote. You’ll always need a beach towel whether you got a single splash on your skin or dipped yourself in water. We surely know it can’t be left behind or forgotten but this is just a quick reminder.

CUTE COVER-UP

There’s no better way to hit the beach than wearing a lovable cover-up or already having one in your tote. It will give you the beach charm you’re looking for and could also work as a cute dress at local beach side nights.

Prada Lila Eugénie

SUNNIES

What’s a beach without voguish summer sunnies? Double-check you packed them in your summer carry and don’t forget to get the beach lit all around you.

AFTER SUN MILK

This is a must-have if you’re willing to embrace a longlasting glowing tan. Apply it right after sun exposure to immediately nourish your skin and cool it down for an everlasting bronze look. Vichy

SPF HAIR SPRAY

A must-have that works effectively on protecting and coating hair against sea salt kinkiness, especially if you have highlighted hair. This sun protecting formula will let you embrace the beach-y curls freely with no regrets later. New Look Kerastase

HOLOGRAPHIC VISOR

Because we want to make sure you stay in-style, we highly recommend having this trendiest beach accessory. It keeps you safe and sets the unicorn vibes in the air.

NUANCES OF NATURE Double A’s sister duo Ayah Aboutera and Aliaa Aboutera launch their SS’21 collection, labelled Nuances of Nature. Inspired by nature and its boundless colors, this collection continues to emulate Double A’s masterful pieces that highlight the use of leather as both a winter and summer fabric. With the pandemic bringing forward a global lockdown, the environment set out on a journey of self-healing. As humanity confined, nature began to flourish and thrive, subsequently, people experienced a newfound appreciation for the beauty and peace it brought about, this was the precise inspiration for Nuances of Nature. An amalgam between bold, vibrant colors and playful geometric cutouts, Double A’s designs are both youthful and fearless. Leather being the family business, Double A has a firm grasp on its potential, using the finest natural leather to debunk and revolutionize the notion that leather is a winter fabric. Double A uses innovative techniques to ensure their garments are both edgy and elegant, while still remaining practical and comfortable. This SS’21 collection is designed with no inner lining, making the pieces more lightweight and summer appropriate.

26 IDENTITY • July 2021

Believing that leather is the embodiment of a powerful and independent woman, Double A designs garments that exude effortless femininity and confidence. The latest collection utilizes key archival pieces that are reinterpreted using rich colors, like imperial gold, oranges, blues, greens, and a variation of pinks. Nuances of Nature is inspired by the uneven motions of nature, palm tree leaflets, waves, and elements that create twisted yet sophisticated curves and patterns, it is a testament to Double A’s innovativity and aptitude. Resembling a gladiator’s armour, the Ayla vest is strikingly unique and empowering, where the Chrome vest fuses between edgy punk and feminine grace. Each Double A design is made to be a statement piece.

With nature in mind, Double A aims to prioritize the environment in its production course, creating a waste minimization initiative by using leftover leather cutouts and giving them a second life. Through the ‘Chrome Bag’, available in this collection, Double A works to be a zerowaste brand. Double A not merely designs and produces spectacular garments but they are a 100% Egyptian handmade brand. From their leather cutting, studs, insertions and leatherfringe shredding; Double A works to tell a story of pride and uniqueness. The Nuances of Nature are translated through Double A’s SS’21 editorial shoot. Surrounded by trees, water, and other aspects of nature, this shoot embodies the inspiration behind the collection, while complementing the bold and daring colors and patterns evident throughout.

The modeling industry is on the rise in Egypt, with so many new and talented faces taking over the scene day by day. One of those faces is Youssria Mostafa, a 24-year-old model who’s been in the business for three years now after chasing after her dream of becoming a professional model ever since she was a 16-yearold. We chatted with her about the field and how the modeling industry is flourishing right now, how she’s trying to make a name for herself, her most significant collaborations, and her future plans! WHEN DID YOU KNOW YOU WANTED TO PURSUE A MODELING CAREER? I was only sixteen years old when I started discovering my passion and love for modeling, dressing up and posing in front of the camera. I realized then and as I grew up that it’s one of the things I would love to continue doing and pursue as a career. HOW DID YOU START? I started in Egypt as a plus size model for small local brands before I decided to make the move to Dubai. When I got there, I started losing weight drastically and later decided to take on the modeling career professionally. That’s when I started building my portfolio and reaching out to agencies. HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT THE MODELING CAREER RECENTLY TAKING OFF IN EGYPT WITH MANY MODELING AGENCIES OPENING UP? Actually, modeling in Egypt is a lot harder than anybody would like to think. It’s really challenging due to the fierce competition between models, photographers, and even art directors. You have to be extremely professional and very aware of all the new fashion trends. Now with all these modeling agencies opening up, having the confidence and being on top of the game is very crucial to stand out among all the new faces.

TALK TO US ABOUT YOUR MOST MEMORABLE PROJECTS IN EGYPT AND ABROAD! Wady El Rayan photoshoot was totally outstanding. The dress was made in less than 24 hours and all the shots were taken in exactly 18 minutes, all thanks to the brilliant idea of photographer Ahmed Ashkor whom I’d like to really thank from the bottom of my heart. WHO ARE YOUR ROLE MODELS IN THE FIELD? I have to say Ashley Graham; she’s an American plus size model. She was the one who inspired me and gave me the confidence to start modeling in my early beginnings as a plus size model in Egypt. WHAT ARE YOUR FUTURE PLANS? I’m currently working and gaining more experience in the modeling field and my plan is to have my own self-titled fashion brand one day. WHAT WOULD YOU TELL YOUNG EGYPTIAN AND ARAB GIRLS WHO WISH TO PURSUE THE SAME CAREER? Confidence is key; you have to love yourself and love your body. Also, being up to date with all the international fashion trends is the essence of this field. If you have the chance to learn more about modeling, go for it. Take classes and challenge yourself to step out of your comfort zone. HOW DO YOU SEE THE WAY BODY IMAGE IS BEING PERCEIVED IN EGYPT AND THE MIDDLE EAST? Well, I think people in Egypt and the Middle East have recently become more open to the idea of a modeling career, and the fact that there are many influencers in different sizes and shapes who promote a healthy body image, made a lot of people feel much more comfortable in their own skin.

YOUR GUIDE TO

a Calm,

Stress-free SUMMER by Neamat Eltouby

M

editation is key for a stressfree summer. Although some may perceive it as a pointless activity that only involves sitting and rhythmic breathing, it’s probably those who haven’t given it a proper and fair try. Not only does meditation calm us down, but it imposes many health and mental benefits as well. For your body, meditation is a rejuvenator, it acts like a restart button to your health. For your mind, meditation is your little happy pill, an advantageous drug we should all be taking.

38 IDENTITY • July 2021

When taking the step to begin meditation, typically, there are many obstacles that will bind your exercise. With meditation, comes the physical obstacle of sitting still and clearing your mind. Taking one position to begin your activity is possibly the most challenging issue you will face. You will want to toss and turn and itch, and then the mind games will roll in. As you start to meditate and attempt to clear your mind, doubts about the activity will surely find their way to you. You will most probably ask yourself why you’re not doing something else that is more productive, like being with family, making money or doing some extra work. However, all of this, is in fact, the reason you need to be meditating. So, keep it in mind to block out all the other whispers you will hear.

Sit/Lie Comfortably. With your hands on your lap and your body absolutely still, place yourself in a comfortable position to begin your meditative technique. Ignore rumours about the most efficient positions, as you need to take a comfortable position that takes injuries, aching areas and bodily issues into consideration.

the many other benefits you will be experiencing as well. The short term goals of meditation are primarily the main focus of those who meditate, yet, meditation vastly affects our hearts, brains, thoughts, emotions, and in many cases our brain’s capacity. PHYSICALLY Physically, meditation lowers your blood pressure and your heart rate, improves your blood circulation, and slows your respiratory rate. Not only that, but it boosts your immune system and energy levels as well as curb asthma and other inflammatory disorders. Meditation can also be an effective cure for feminine disorders like PMS and a useful regulator for menopausal symptoms. When feeling menstrual cramps, make sure to try meditating to regulate the cramps and calm your stomach down. As a whole, meditation helps you live longer and healthier.

Meditation is painful in the beginning but it bestows immortal bliss and supreme joy in the end

Close your Eyes. Closing your eyes keeps you focused on the Swami process you’re about to begin, and keeps you from being distracted with your surroundings. Total darkness is the only thing you should be seeing. Do not visualize. Breathe. Focus on your breath, the movement of your chest and the air coming in and out. Notice the movement of your body as you breathe. Observe your chest, shoulders, ribcage and stomach. Centre your attention on that, and only that. Clear Your Mind. Rid your head from all thoughts to focus on absolutely nothing. For a few moments, pretend like nothing is around but you and your breathing. And, you’re all set. Meditating is more beneficial than you might have heard. Relaxation is mainly your goal and is usually the attainable result, but it is not the only one. Although, seeking relaxation is most probably the reason why you’ve begun this activity, but consider

MENTALLY

Meditation is a mean to relax, that’s a given result. However, considering your emotional and mental well-being, meditation is just a better chance for you to reduce your anxiety and impulsivity. With feeling stress, loneliness, and/ or depression, meditation is Sivananda also medication. It increases your self-awareness as you focus on your breathing and yourself more than anything else. As a result, it increases self-acceptance and acceptance of the world around you in general. It relieves you from harmful emotional impulses like eating away your feelings or smoking them off. As a whole, it improves your mood and focuses on your emotional and social connections, developing your intelligence on both. Surprisingly, meditation has also proven to strengthen and improve memory, as it increases memory retention and focus skills. It also helps with processing, creativity and critical thinking.

THINGS YOU WILL EXPERIENCE BEFORE MEDITATING

Starting meditation is guaranteeing yourself a calmer, less nerve-wrecking lifestyle. After meditating, you will easily notice the obvious changes in your health, and you will feel a healthy, gorgeous glow. Your mind will clear and you will find the stressful things in life, less stressful. July 2021 • IDENTITY 39

SPEND YOUR SUMMER VACATION AT ONE OF EGYPT’S HIDDEN GEMS! by Aya Aboshady Let’s be honest, the Land of the Pharaohs is a wonderland. And spending the summer season in it is actually a privilege. But like many others, we are bored of the typical vacation spots in the North Coast or even Dahab by the Red Sea. Which is why we made sure to help you explore and travel to the hidden gems you might not know exist in Egypt. #1 EL-ZAAFARANA The Red Sea area is not all about Hurghada and El-Sokhna! El-Zaafarana is a road linking the both of them, actually. And other than the fact that there are many resorts around the area, there is also a place where there’s nothing but the beautiful sea where people park their cars and go for a swim. So, whenever you find yourself in need of a relaxing day by the sea in an unusual place, El-Zaafarana is where you should head to with no questions asked! #2 EL-OBAYED Marsa Matruh is a much underrated city, and even though people have started frequently visiting it in the past few years it still has some incredible areas that are yet to be explored. So, basically, people who don’t usually go to Marsa Matruh are missing out big time, specifically those who have never visited El-Obayed! It’s an incredible area with not so many hotels around, but frankly there isn’t a more beautiful beach in Matruh! #3 MAHMEYA ISLAND Mahmeya is hands down one of the most beautiful beaches in Hurghada! Or actually, scratch that; Mahmeya IS the most beautiful beach in the charming city! Maldives who? The stunning view and the incredible baby blue water are breathtaking. It’s located on the other side of the Giftun Island and one of its perks is that it’s not overly crowded because not many people know about it! And the best part is, you can spend part of your honeymoon there because it’s basically the Maldives. However, you could easily go and enjoy the atmosphere with your friends too!

40 IDENTITY • July 2021

#4 NABQ Just like we brought you the best beach in Hurghada, we also have one of Sharm El-Sheikh’s finest! Nabq beach or Mangrove Beach is incredible for so many reasons. But the most important one goes back to how stunning the sunset there is! You really don’t want to miss this one. There are so many beaches in Egypt, but none like Nabq! What are you waiting for? Grab your group of friends and drive there if you have to! #5 SUNKEN CITY Well, Sahl Hasheesh itself isn’t an underrated area, since it has become very trendy in the past few years. However, not everyone knows about the wonders this place has to offer! And we’re here to tell you that going to the Sunken City beach there is something you can never miss out on! The beauty and even the color of the water there are indescribable! #6 RAS BANAS We’re really worried of not doing this one justice. Like Sahl Hasheesh, Marsa Alam has also become very trendy for some time now! But not everyone who went there has visited Ras Banas and enjoyed its wonders. Ras Banas isn’t for those who just want to enjoy a peaceful swim. On the contrary, this place is made for those who want to explore and dive their way into the beautiful coral reefs. So, snorkelers, gear up!

#7 ABU GHUSUN Like Dahab, Marsa Alam kind of became the new holiday trend. But even though people have been frequently going there for a few years now, there are still some places they’re yet to discover. And Abu Ghusun is one of them. It really feels like you’re in a whole other world, with the water as blue as the sky after a rainbow. Also, we’re pretty sure you’re going to have a really nice dive and pleasant relaxing atmosphere on the sandy beach!

#8 SIDI HENEISH You really need to ditch Marassi, Hacienda and all of that for Sidi Heneish this summer! The North Coast is beautiful; there’s not a single doubt! But if you visit Sidi Heneish there, it’s a whole other story. You really wouldn’t want to swim anywhere else after this one of a kind vacation. We honestly don’t think we’ve ever seen water that blue or clear before! And you’ll probably agree with us when you go!

#9 EL-GHARAM Because Marsa Matruh is the coolest place ever - we offer our apologies to all the other stunning cities - we decided to bring you one more gem from the beautiful area! El-Gharam is, in fact, not an underrated beach. But, that mostly goes back to the fact that it has a history behind it, being the location

where a very popular black and white Egyptian movie was shot - Laila Mourad’s Shate’ El-Gharam. There’s a very popular rock on the beautiful beach that people visit to take pictures on and it’s now called “Laila Mourad’s Rock”. Other than the historical background, El-Gharam’s water is so pretty, it’s insane!

After going through this list of beautiful - and more or less underrated - beaches and hidden gems in Egypt, please don’t tell us that you decided to go for the typical route. We hope we have inspired you to try at least one of those cool places out! July 2021 • IDENTITY 41

HOW TO TURN YOUR SUMMER FLING INTO A REAL THING by Neamat Eltouby In our humble definition for fling, it is enjoying all the privileges of being in a relationship without actually being in one. During the summer, sometimes, this special someone appears and you enjoy all types of lovey-dovey things without actually being in a relationship. Although being in a relationship is something we all enjoy, flings have a different vibe that can turn around the whole vacation for us. Now, we don’t know whether it’s the summer sun and the beach effect, but flings are something we never forget. What if you want to turn it into a real thing? Here’s how. 42 IDENTITY • July 2021

INTEGRATE THEM IN YOUR LIFE

SHOW COMMITMENT

After meeting your fling, make it a point to show them you’re serious about them. It seems like a risk, agreed. However, taking it is worth the shot, you’ve got nothing to lose. Remember that your fling is neither a person you need to depend on completely, nor are they someone you’re 100% settled on. Introduce them to more of your friends – if you haven’t already -, talk about some of your problems, and get them involved in your work or your studies. Help them understand that – although they don’t right now – but there is a huge possibility that they represent significance in your life. Make your fling feel welcomed in your life.

Try to show them that you are somewhat committed. Make it clear that at the moment, they’re the only person you’re optimistic about. Mention a few times that they are the only ones you’re talking to, the only ones you want to see right now, the ones you came all this way for. Don’t overdo it though, in order not to freak them out. Simply lay out all the facts about the effort you’re making to be around them; flirt a little and centre a lot of your attention on them. They will be doing the same, if it truly is a mutual fling.

COMMUNICATE

In hopes to keep your fling around, try to invest extra effort in doing activities together. Don’t ghost your group of friends of course. But try to have some private time with only the two of you. Maybe take a few walks on the beach, go for lunch alone, or spend a night out just the two of you to get to know each other more. In the process, introduce each other to your favourite activities, and do them together. Watch your favourite movies or listen to your favourite music together.

Communication, as we all know, is a major aspect in relationships. As a result, try to channel in actual conversations and talks about emotions with your fling. Try to eliminate small talk, weather talk and beach talk. Have full on real conversations with them. Talk about interests, dreams, goals and futures. And of course, it wouldn’t hurt to flirt a little. MAKE PLANS Although your summer together has been and will continue to be fun and perfect, make plans for after the summer. Plans that you intend to carry on and implement. Plan on going places together, seeing movies or maybe travelling. Be sure to make them feel like you see a future in wherever your relationship is heading and that you plan to keep them a part of your life. Include them in your shortterm plans; make plans to see them when summer is over. Make plans to just hang out somewhere, see a concert or attend an art exhibition etc. SHOW THEM YOU’RE PARTNER MATERIAL Without making it obvious that you’re all over your fling, clarify the fact that you’re worth their time. Being careful when showing them that you’re the one they deserve, and they’re the one you deserve. Show your fling that you’re there for them, and here to stay. Show them that you’re up for being in a serious relationship by showing honesty, giving your opinion, sharing your intelligence, respecting yourself and them, and most of all, not painting a picture of you that doesn’t exist. Prove yourself to your fling by showing them the qualities that make you who you are. Indirectly tell them, I am the most qualified one here.

DO MORE THINGS TOGETHER

DON’T PANIC Panic only breeds more panic. Your panicking will only cause them to panic when it comes to the little things you do together. If your fling gets even the slightest idea that you’re panicking, they will panic as well, and the whole night will just blow over. Don’t spend too much time panicking over where you’re going, what they’re saying, doing or wearing. In other words, try not to try too hard. Meaning, don’t get out of your way to do something you wouldn’t normally do. On the contrary, be honest by showing them the raw, true being that is you. Keep your cool, and freak out after it’s over.

When you get your summer fling, don’t fret! Turning your summer fling into an actual thing can happen in just a few basic steps that will guarantee a well bound relationship for the both of you. Keeping your cool, proving yourself, spending time together, and integration are just the way to do it. Breaking the surface of the superficial, summer-flavored relationship is basically the way to the newfound relationship you want with this extraordinary person. Who knows, maybe this fling will be the ultimate thing. July 2021 • IDENTITY 43

THE DO’S & DON’TS OF WITH FRIENDS

travelling

by Amina Moustapha

Planning on travelling with your pal/s this summer? That’s so cool. There is nothing more fulfilling than travelling and wandering the world, and no one better to share the road with you than your friend. But here is the issue, the choice of a travel companion could make or break any trip. It can sometimes even ruin your relationship with this person. Before you even pack your bag or decide on dates, you’ll need to decide on company. Many trips like family trips, honeymoons, school trips, etc. already have predetermined companions. Those come with certain expectations, but what about the regular trips? What should the expectations be? Let’s not waste time and discuss what are the do’s and don’ts of travelling with friends. 1. Discover If Your Travel Styles Synchronize Some character differences could be overlooked, meaning the two persons could find a middle ground, but with some differences it is hard to find a middle ground. In order to avoid bumping into this second type of differences, you must learn about them even before organizing the trip. For instance, if you’re an early bird and your companion is a night owl, if you’re the type who likes to really savour the place you visit, and your friend prefers to rush to see everything there is to see…you might have a problem here. If there is no middle ground, you better reconsider this trip.

44 IDENTITY • July 2021

2. Agree on a General Budget It is always awkward to discuss money with friends, but agreeing on a general budget before organizing a trip is a must! For example, if you like to spoil yourself and stay in luxury hotels, while your friend tends to play it cheap; how can these two scenarios coexist with each other? Same goes with food, places to visit, activities…When you agree on a budget, it gives you both a sense about the other person’s mindset.

3. Make Deals Together When It Comes To Decisions When the ‘middle ground’ option isn’t always applicable, the “Let’s make a deal” option should come to the table. That’s the thing about having a companion; it’s not ‘me’, it’s ‘us’. Therefore to avoid someone always having things their way, or having to fight over every decision, make deals together. ‘You want to visit this place, so we will dine at a restaurant I pick’ and so on. 4. Check Each Other’s Energy Level One of the main problems that could face travel companions

is not having the same pace. Is one of you looking forward to a leisurely pace, the other ready to see a whole city in one day? Check each other’s energy level. Some of you ought to be tired, hungry, sleepy or maybe too energetic to sit in one place. Not having enough energy could milk the fun out of anything even if you’re in Disneyland, and having so much energy and not using it, is a major disappointment. Pace your energy together to be able to have fun together. 5. Break Out So You Don’t Break Up Yes, you travelled together but that doesn’t mean you can’t launch on your own sometime, especially if it is a long trip. Sometimes you need a break from each other, and that’s more than alright. Don’t consider it an insult to your friendship; having some time apart releases the negative energy that surely will rise. Recharge and then go back to have fun together, it will make you appreciate each other even more. 6. Keep Your Head in a Crisis You have no idea about the number of crises that could occur while travelling. Flight delays, losing money, getting sick, getting lost…In those cases tension will arise, and who better to toss this tension on other than your travelling companion? This will be a major mistake. Even if it’s their fault, we all mess up, so you must think before saying anything because angry words spoken in a stressful moment can have lasting effects throughout the rest of your trip. 7. Talk About It Obviously none of the above tips will work without this one. It might happen that you go on a trip with someone you assume is a great match, but then it turns out to be a disastrous one. As mentioned before, all sorts of unpleasant things could happen. Negative energy could be flying in the air around you. Don’t pull these feelings under the rug; talk about them in a civilized way and clear the air, or else it might explode in a very unexpected moment.

A trip is meant to be full of fun, new experiences and discoveries, so we advise you to pick that travel companion carefully. And no matter what happens, just stick to the having fun plan. July 2021 • IDENTITY 45

DIFFERENT WAYS TO EXERCISE THIS SUMMER by Salma El Feqy 48 IDENTITY • July 2021

L

et’s agree that exercising during summer is not so easy compared to other seasons, simply because the weather is too hot for any person to make any extra unnecessary move. But exercising is essential if you want to stay in shape and live the healthy lifestyle. That is why, this summer you need to find a fun way to exercise to enjoy every bit of it even if it is too hot out there.

1. RACQUET BY THE BEACH This one is many people’s favourite beach time activity. Get a pair of racquets and challenge your partner/friend to reach a certain count; a challenge always adds a little bit of fun to everything. But don’t forget to pack balls as well; otherwise you’ll end up carrying the pair of racquets with no use. 2. CYCLE THE WHOLE TOWN Instead of using the car in Sahel, choose to ride your bicycle to the supermarket, beach or even to your night outings, unless you are planning to visit another resort, then of course don’t! The whole point is to indulge you in sports without even noticing. Riding a bike gives you the necessary cardio workout for your body while feeling nothing but the amazing breeze. 3. ARRANGE AN INSANITY SESSION WITH YOUR FRIENDS Insanity is a program by the amazing Shaun Tee who is one of the most well known fitness instructors worldwide. It is a daily program that if done in groups, can become very addictive. All you need to do is set a good time for you and your friends to meet up in one of your houses in either Sahel or Cairo. Two weeks later, you’ll notice all the difference. 4. WALK BY THE BEACH It can be your daily thing whether with your dog, a friend or by yourself. A walk by the beach is therapy to both your body and soul. You can free your mind in a matter of just one hour, and you’ll be the happiest fit person you know. Just set a fixed time daily and the habit will grow on you even after you are back in Cairo. 5. GO SWIMMING Obviously this one doesn’t take a smart person, but yes go swimming. Set a certain number of minutes

where all you need to do is just swim back and forth. The effort you exert will tremendously affect you in positive ways while you are having the maximum amount of fun with your family and friends. Those couple of laps will turn your physique around. 6. BEACH VOLLEYBALL If you are one of those people who spend most of their summer vacations by the beach, then this is definitely super easy for you. You get to burn calories while the sun kisses your skin, and you get to enjoy every second of it. You can either play with friends or people that you just met 5 seconds ago on the beach. But don’t forget to add some extra sunscreen to avoid getting your skin burnt. 7. CROSS FIT SESSIONS Even if you are spending your summer in Sahel, you’ll still find a team there that does daily workouts. Cross fit is very fun because you build a community with those who join the program, and it’s also very flexible with your timings. Results are fast as well. Cross fit by the beach is fun, because you just finish this onehour workout and jump into the sea right away. 8. DO SOME YOGA Yoga is one of those activities that both work on your physical and psychological health. It is not all meditation and just closing your eyes doing nothing but freeing your mind, absolutely not! Yoga can be very challenging physically and no one can deny that. It takes you days to be able to do a move, not to mention mastering it. You can practice yoga by the beach or in your home. Accept the challenge and start today!

Practicing sports during summer is one of the toughest things to do, but if you want to live the healthy life, you don’t walk around giving yourself excuses. Change your attitude, and start being committed to sports this summer. Your body will reap all the benefits. July 2021 • IDENTITY 49

“BILHANA”

WHOLE FOOD RECIPES FROM EGYPT, LEBANON, AND MOROCCO by Aya Aboshady “BILHANA” is a non-traditional modern Middle Eastern cookbook produced by three talented professionals who are aiming to celebrate local seasonal ingredients in the Middle East and bring a bunch of healthy and delicious homecooked recipes that are creative, classic, and easily achievable at home with the usage of 100% clean and organic food. The authors are Shewekar El-Gharably - originally an established interior designer, currently a certified holistic health coach, and a culinary nutrition expert based in Cairo, Egypt. And Yasmine El-Gharably - a self-taught home cook with a business and strategy background. She’s also founded and is a partner in CairoCooking.com, a recipe sharing platform aiming to inspire home cooks across the Middle East. Both sisters share the same passion of a healthier and happier lifestyle which is exactly what they’re trying to promote with their new book. The photographer is Yehia El-Alaily, an Egyptian/ British commercial photographer based in Cairo, Egypt. His portfolio covers a wide range of trends,

50 IDENTITY • July 2021

such as food, interiors, people, nature, architecture. His commercial and editorial work has been published by the Food Print, Starwood Hotels & Resorts, the Four Seasons Hotels, Hilton Worldwide, and more! We had the opportunity to chat with the three people behind this amazing book and get an inside look on what went on behind the scenes, how the idea of the book was born as well as the production of the creative content. 1. What’s the main idea behind “BILHANA”? It’s always been the perception that Middle Eastern food is fattening and high in calories and with this book we wanted to prove the opposite. We’ve incorporated more greens and veggies into the recipes, went back to the origin of using healthy ghee and olive oil, and highlighted the process in each recipe to benefit the most from the fresh ingredients. We also included recipes to satisfy vegans, vegetarians, pescatarians, keto and paleo followers.

2. Walk us through the process of working on the book!

4. What’s your favorite recipe from the book? Why?

The first 20-30 recipes were the easiest because they came from our current everyday cooking with recipes we are passionate about - so final recipe testing and photography were easy. Then we had to dig deeper into recipes we enjoy from our homes and work on them to get the perfect results - so we worked on testing 20 recipes at a time, writing and photographing them. We also looked at seasonal fresh ingredients that would make a lovely well set dining table and came up with more ideas as we put the book categories together. It all fell into place and made us see where we need to research further and make sure all good occasions are covered with the right food.

Shiwi: I like the Vine Leaves Pie. Because one can play with the stuffing, be creative, and it will turn out amazing without spending hours rolling vine leaves fingers.

3. In your opinion, what do you think is so special about Middle Eastern food? Middle Eastern food is originally packed with fibers, minerals, and all the needed vitamins/antioxidants. It’s also full of healthy fats and satisfies all taste buds with its rich flavors and spices and most importantly, it’s made with a lot of love. We also think that globalization has processed horrible additives that have been replacing the wholesome ingredients. With this cookbook, we wanted to go back to the original and add a twist. Mediterranean ingredients are inherently colorful, flavorful and full of goodness to start off any dish. We wanted to highlight how our raw clean veggies and grains are equipped to keep you satisfied in a lifestyle diet using our traditional yet modernized recipes.

Yasmine: I love all the fresh and grain based salads because they are a complete meal and easy to prepare. Also the desserts section, especially those prepared with dates and tahini, are a combo that I enjoy cooking with and eating. Yehia: I really like the Spinach Chips, Lamb Shoulder, and Lentil with Shrimps. 5. Do you think a healthier lifestyle might be the new food-trend with “BILHANA” in the picture? The healthier lifestyle has been the new foodtrend for years now, but unfortunately most people have perceived it as complicated, thinking that it is impossible to eat delicious yet healthy food! We are hoping “Bilhana” will inspire households that it is simple and hassle-free. 6. Tell us about your artistic direction in preparation for the food photography of the book? We were aiming for a modern Middle Eastern direction. We wanted to avoid any cliches, such as the Khayameya style or the cliche Middle Eastern cookbook. Therefore, we opted for local materials from Fayoum and Upper Egypt as well as a natural background so the focus would be on the food itself.

INDOOR PLANTS

SEA ORNAMENTS

Who wouldn’t want their space to be full of greens? Indoor plants are certainly one of this year’s home décor trends. Having pretty plants in cute pots around the house is not only cheerful for the eyes, but a mood boosting addition as well!

Want your house to feel like summer? Then adding sea ornaments all around should be top priority. From little golden starfishes and seashells to seahorse figures; your house will shine with the playful summer vibes.

FANCY LAMP There’s hardly ever any house that doesn’t have cute lamps scattered around here and there. That being said, to cozy up your summer home and make it look lavish at the same time, you definitely need to get your hands on a little elegant lamp, maybe moon-shaped?

BOHEMIAN TAPESTRY Tapestries have been a home decorating trend for so long now! However, such pieces could never go out of style - especially if that style is bohemian. A colorful tapestry with a bohemian vibe is just the right fit for your summer home!

COZY ARMCHAIR No home is complete without a cozy elegant armchair that would set the vibe and act as both your comfort zone around the house as well as your little cozy reading nook!

GREEK STATUE Statues are usually cool to have around the house! But Greek-themed ones are not only cool, they’re also really pretty, ornamental, and will make you feel like a Greek goddess staying in her castle, even if that castle is only your beach house. July 2021 • IDENTITY 53

SUMMER

READS

by Amina Moustapha

Summer is here! So whether you’ll be lounging at the beach or poolside during your next vacation, you’ll need a good book to keep you company, and entertain your imagination. My Mamma Mia Summer by Annie Robertson Who didn’t daydream of dusting off their passport, packing their best dancing shoes, and escaping to Greece on their own Mamma Mia adventure? In this novel, Laurel made this dream come true. Although she never took a risk her whole life, this summer she’s going to do something that nobody expects of her. Just like she used to do with her grandma, Laurel turns to her ABBA albums and her favorite film, Mamma Mia! She grabs her passport, and jets off to Skopelos for her own adventure. She explores the island’s famous sites and finds herself feeling strangely at home. So would she return to her life in London, or could this be where she truly belongs?

Something to Live For by Richard Roper In this book you will find one of the most interesting protagonists ever. Andrew. Andrew works with death for a living. His job consists of finding the next of kin for those who die alone, searching their home for valuable possessions that will help pay for their funeral, and then even though it’s not compulsory Andrew attends the funerals of these people who have no one in their lives to say goodbye. Which is fine, because he has the perfect wife and children waiting at home for him after a long day. At least, that’s what he has told people. The novel sheds a light on where the need to create a perfect life can lead you. In an attempt to fit in, Andrew has forgotten one important thing: how to really live. And maybe, it’s about time for him to start.

The Most Fun We Ever Had by Claire Lombardo Claire Lombardo’s debut novel will take us into the world of four radically different sisters, Wendy, widowed young, finds comfort in alcohol and dating younger men; Violet, a lawyer who turned into a stay at home mom, battles anxiety and self-doubt; Liza, a professor, who finds herself pregnant with a baby she’s not sure she wants by a man she’s not sure she loves; and finally Grace, the youngest daughter, begins living a lie that no one in her family even suspects. Most importantly, the daughters share the lingering fear that they will never find a love quite like their parents’. The novel will take us on a rollercoaster trip where we will explore the triumphs and burdens of love, parenthood, but above all sisterhood.

Just Another Mountain: A Memoir by Sarah Jane Douglas Our favourite from the list, and also based on a true story! Our protagonist, Sarah lost her mother to breast cancer. The only thing that kept her from giving up was a promise she’d made to her mother that she would keep going no matter what. Sarah used this promise as a fuel to mountain walk the beautiful, dangerous, forbidding mountains of her native Scotland. Just Another Mountain is a story of hope and redemption, of a mother and a daughter, and of how we can learn both to live and to love. Sometimes all you can do is put one foot in front of the other ... and just keep walking.

Close to Where the Heart Gives Out by Malcolm Alexander When the author of this memoir, Malcolm Alexander, decided to give up his job in suburban Glasgow, followed his gut when he saw the job advert, ‘urgent: island doctor needed’ and applied immediately, his life has literally and completely changed. It is an unflinchingly honest and moving memoir of rural life in Orkney island, from the only doctor on the island. Throughout Alexander’s narration you will fall in love with the islanders, the island itself, Alexander’s family, and of course Malcolm Alexander himself. In the islanders’ stories that ranged from the humorous to the deeply moving, Malcolm describes what it’s like adjusting to life without modern conveniences.

MYWAY: A NEW FRAGRANCE FROM GIORGIO ARMANI “More than ever, I am convinced we should all be focusing on the vital importance of environmental issues. We cannot ignore the fact that the future for generations to come will depend on the choices that we make today.” – Giorgio Armani Armani has thus showcased his spoken commitment to sustainability throughout the production of his new fragrance: MyWay. The creators worked in collaboration with the environmental NGO Fanamby to implement sustainability practice in their sourcing of ingredients, all without compromising the quality of the product. As MyWay is a complex scent - with unique notes of natural ingredients such as Calabrian Bergamot, Egyptian Orange Blossom, and Indian Jasmine - ensuring sustainability in production was no easy task. Nonetheless, Armani ensured that the sourcing of MyWay’s key ingredient of Madagascan Vanilla

prioritized suppliers that employ vulnerable people who are typically excluded from the labor market. Moreover, they have been working in collaboration with Fanamby, who ensure the revenues are directed toward growing local livelihoods, supporting producers who wish to diversify their crop yield by growing coffee and rice, and encouraging local entrepreneurship.

STRENGTHS: Highly emotional, loyal and persuasive WEAKNESSES: Moody, suspicious and manipulative LOVE LIFE: Emotions of love and care are very important to Cancer, which is why finding true love is what matters to them the most. Cancers are willing to give with nothing in return if they know that their loved ones are going to stay for the longest ride. MOST COMPATIBLE WITH: Capricorn and Taurus

Relationship Compatibility ARIES: The relationship between both signs is doomed to fail due to the battle of egos and misunderstanding of one another. If you want to make it work, both of you will need to compromise a lot.

LIBRA: Being sensitive makes you both have one of the best relationships, because you two understand the emotional side of one another and are able to satisfy each other’s needs.

TAURUS: Very successful combination, as both of you go through mood shifts, have a strong need to display affection, and demand constant support and love from one another.

SCORPIO: Both of you demand care, love, emotions and affection, but the problem with Scorpios is that they tend to ask for more than what they generally give. This might be an issue in your relationship.

GEMINI: You two will have to shift your natures a bit to make it work. Geminis tend to be more on the intellectual side, while you tend to be emotional. But if you balance it, everything will fall into place.

SAGITTARIUS: Sagittarius is a free spirit out there, which contradicts the reserved Cancer. You both don’t understand each other enough to maintain the relationship.

CANCER: This match is very hectic as you both need emotional reassurance and substantial amount of care, but you two are capable of giving, so you will be fine.

CAPRICORN: Capricorns understand your emotional needs to the extent that they make you feel drained at times. You two can make it work if you start acting maturely.

LEO: The enthusiastic nature of Leo makes this combo great. You lack enthusiasm and confidence, while Leo helps you achieve that in life. They push you hard enough in order for you to succeed.

AQUARIUS: Aquarians choose thoughts over emotions while you do the total opposite. Aquarians love mingling with people, while you don’t like it that way. These might be the core issues in your relationship.

VIRGO: Virgos tend to be very practical, while you tend to be very emotional. This might cause issues and misunderstandings from time to time, but with the right communication skills, everything will be fine.

66 IDENTITY • July 2021

PISCES: You two belong to the water signs; which means you have lots of common traits that make things work. You two are caring, sensitive and generally nice.
