Mr Landers, Principal: Due to a significant number of examinations now being complete, as of 3.00pm today Year 11 no longer have to attend school full time. Students will still be required to attend all remaining examinations and any relevant planned revision sessions. They may also be requested into school by staff to complete any incomplete work for practical subjects. For morning examinations pupils should ensure that they are on school site and in Scotty G’S by 8.45am where they will be registered. For afternoon examinations they should arrive on school site by 1.15pm. For both afternoon examinations and all revision sessions students will need to sign in at main reception before going to the relevant subject area. A copy of next week’s examination and revision session programme is below. Can I remind parents that during normal school hours and when they are not involved in exams or in school revision, students are required to complete individual revision at home using their revision guides or GCSEPod. They should not be out in the local area or undertaking any form of paid or unpaid employment until all of their exams are complete. Finally can I remind parents that we have two celebration events planned for Year 11 students, namely the Year 11 Prom on Thursday 5th July and Thorpe Park on Friday 29th June. We want as many invited students as possible to attend these events and request that all payments are made by Friday 15th June. Any payments received after this will not be accepted. Once again can I thank you for the support you have given both your child and the Academy throughout their time at Holly Hall and in particular during this stressful examination period.

Mrs Hammett, Head of PE: On Thursday the Year 9 girls team went to the Black Country Rounders Tournament at Hillcrest. Six other schools were competing with the hope of representing Dudley in the finals.

An article by Year 10 student Amman Ahmed: To get into the spirit of the World cup, why not have a go on our raffle? Tickets cost 10p each and the prize includes a World Cup mug.

This was the girls first match together. They really impressed me with how well they came together as a team and picked up on the rules. The girls worked hard but were unable to win against the more experienced teams. The team’s natural ability was so impressive that they were praised by other members of staff who could not believe this was the girls first game together. We have a promising team for next years Rounders league!

Tickets will be on sale in the Student Shop.

The team was: Cydney Sutton (Bowler), Charlotte Oakley (Backstop), Chelsea Butler (1st post), Amna Khan (2nd post), Blessing Cubes (3rd post), Sherrice Harris (4th post), Ellie Jarrett (deep fielder), Courtney Mallen (deep fielder), Donnae Fullerton (deep fielder), Yusrah Shokat (deep fielder).

The School nurse is available for help and advice on any health related issues. If you would like to make an appointment to see her, speak to Miss Woodall on Student Reception.

We are now in the middle of Ramadan so we asked Year 11 students Aadam Mahmood and Hamza Mahmood about their experience during Ramadan. Here’s what they said: “We have fasted for twenty-two days and we have not eaten or drank during sunlight. It has been a great mental and physical challenge as we are fasting during our GCSE examinations. During Ramadan we are obliged to only eat when there is no sunlight. The fast ends when the new moon is spotted. This will be on day thirty or day thirty-one. Following the fast, we celebrate with Eid where gifts are exchanged.”

Students are reminded that Scotty G's stops serving food at 1.10pm - students arriving after this time will not be served.
