An article by Daisy Lamb: “On Monday Year 10 students Daisy Lamb, Georgia Thomas, Natasha Hussain and Molly Handley visited Dudley College to take part in a rebranding session for our school. We were joined by four students from each school in the Dudley Academy Trust. We discussed whether we wanted new school names, new logos and attributed ideas for a change in school uniform. There isn't a final decision yet as there will be more meetings to come.”

Mr Nation, Teacher of Mathematics: On Monday, twenty Year 11 students joined around eight hundred students from other schools for the PiXL (Partners in Excellence) conference at Resorts World, Birmingham. Here they attended fast paced sessions which challenged their maths knowledge and were also given some exam hints and tips. Sanam Naghman said “I found the whole trip worthwhile. The pace was rapid but with motivation high I was able to keep up. I really enjoyed listening to Junior, the speaker entertain us with his motivational speech at the end!”

This will form part of the new uniform, which we expect to implement for September 2018. With this in mind, please do not make any purchases of new uniform at this time. We are currently in negotiations to provide all students with a blazer and tie free of charge.

An article by Natasha Hussain (10GSP): On Thursday nine Year 10 students went to Oxford University. We left at 7:30am and reached Oxford at 10:15am. We met with students from other schools at Wadham College where we were given the itinerary for our day along with fun facts and statistics about studying at university. Then we went to St Anne’s College where we had a tour. Afterwards, we took part in a carousel of activities with student ambassadors where we learnt about life at Oxford University. At the end of the day we returned to the Wadham lecture hall where we were given three taster lectures. We really enjoyed the first lecture given about language and its power in society. Here’s what some of the students said about the day: Danyal Khan - “It was an enjoyable day. We got to learn about what life is like at university and how to manage any problems that we may encounter. I am happy that it didn’t rain.” Molly Handley - “The visit to Oxford has taught me that university life is fun, and you get to try lots of new things such as joining many societies.” Amman Ahmed - “I loved visiting Oxford, it is a very picturesque place and I have learnt valuable information about studying at university.”
