Sustainability in the social economy

„Nachhaltigkeit ist für Sozialunternehmen sehr wichtig, wenn man sie ganzheitlich betrachtet, also aus ökologischer, ökonomischer und sozialer Perspektive. Trotzdem spielt sie – aus verschiedensten Gründen – derzeit kaum eine Rolle“, sagt Peter Stepanek von der FH Campus Wien. Er leitet dort das EU-geförderte Projekt eco3. Ziel des Projekts ist es, neue Impulse in Sachen Nachhaltigkeit in der Sozialwirtschaft zu geben, Bewusstsein zu schaffen und das Studium dahingehend weiterzuentwickeln: „Gemeinsam mit unseren Partner*innen aus Österreich, Deutschland, Tschechien und Rumänien werden wir die aus Sicht der Sozialwirtschaft relevanten Aspekte der Nachhaltigkeit erforschen. Wir wollen ein geeignetes Lehrmodul aufsetzen, mit dem wir unsere Studierenden bestmöglich auf das Thema Nachhaltigkeit in ihrer künftigen Managementtätigkeit vorbereiten“, so Stepanek.

“If you look at it holistically, i.e. from an ecological, economic and social perspective, sustainability is something that is very important for social enterprises. Nevertheless, for a variety of reasons it currently hardly plays a role,” says Peter Stepanek from FH Campus Wien, where he heads the EU funded project eco3. The aim of the project is to give new impulses in terms of sustainability in the social economy, to create awareness and to further develop the degree program in this regard: “Together with our partners from Austria, Germany, the Czech Republic and Romania, we will research the aspects of sustainability that are relevant from the perspective of the social economy. We want to set up a suitable teaching module with which we can prepare our students as best as possible for the topic of sustainability in their future management activities,” explains Stepanek.

Sozialwirtschaft zusammenfassen und im Idealfall aus drei Lehrveranstaltungen bestehen. Sie werden ins Curriculum integriert. Inhaltlich soll es nicht nur um die Verhältnisse in Österreich gehen, sondern Nachhaltigkeit in der Sozialwirtschaft international betrachtet und umgesetzt werden. Die unterschiedlichen Länderperspektiven bringen die beteiligten Hochschulen aus Deutschland, Tschechien und Rumänien in das Projekt ein. Außerdem arbeitet das Konsortium an der Entwicklung moderner Lehr- und Lernunterlagen, unter anderem mit GamificationElementen. Beim Planspiel „Green Monopoly“ werden Studierende künftig die Komplexität des Managementalltags im Hinblick auf Nachhaltigkeit kennenlernen und anhand unterschiedlicher Szenarien erleben. the perspective of the social economy and ideally consist of three courses.
