Twin Rivers: Orlando’s Golf & Wildlife Sanctuary

Nestled between the Big and Little Econ rivers, Twin Rivers Golf Club offers a scenic 18-hole championship Orlando golf course designed by widely recognized Oviedo native Joe Lee. In fact Twin Rivers Golf Club was Lee’s signature golf course in Central Florida.

Who is Joe Lee, you might be wondering? Most Florida-based golfers recognize Joe Lee and have probably played one of his courses as he designed dozens of them from the Panhandle to Miami. Beyond the boundaries of the Sunshine State, however, Lee’s stamp is on more than 100 courses throughout the United States, the Caribbean, South America and Portugal.

At Twin Rivers, as in his collection of more than 200 original designs, Lee used large bunkers to frame fairways and greens, incorporated water hazards liberally, and built greens that tend to slope from back to front to challenge the best golfers while leaving enough room

fair challenge.”

In March 2017, the city of Oviedo purchased Twin Rivers Golf Club to protect the land and prevent it from being redeveloped for residential use as well as to preserve the area in the approach for higher-handicaps and shorter-hitting players to have a shot.

“I don’t think there should be any tricks on a golf course,” said Lee about his design style, “Golfers want a challenge, but they want a as a storage place for water during large rain events. That function has been tested several times in the last five years with hurricanes Irma, Michael and Ian in 2022. While the course saw major flooding during these storms, it drained quickly and natural beauty of Florida unimpeded by development – a rarity in Florida. The 310-acre property abounds with wildlife including eagles, deer, wild pigs, and an alligator or two. That environmental commitment by the city of Oviedo has been recognized by Audubon International awarding Twin Rivers a Certificate of Achievement for business has more than doubled at Twin Rivers. The course is home to the University of Central Florida golf teams and is used as their training facility. Former PGA Tour Player Kim Young is the Director of Golf and Golf Coach.

The incredible $4.2 billion Caribbean resort of Baha Mar is set adjacent to the white sands of Cable Beach on the northern coast of the Bahamian capital Nassau, on the island of New Providence.

It was a foregone conclusion that such an opulent multi-hotel resort should have a golf course, and so it came to pass. The Royal Blue Jack Nicklaus Signature design, with a split personality, opened in 2017, and it is not your run-of-the-mill resort course.

Royal Blue Golf Club at Baha Mar features an 18- hole, 72 Par Jack Nicklaus designed Signature Golf Course suitable for recreational or championship play with a unique “two courses in one” design. The Nicklaus Signature Golf Course is one of 290 courses in the world hand-designed by Jack Nicklaus himself, and the only Jack Nicklaus course in the Bahamas.
