-.A pre-game ceremony honored former Catamount All-American and National Hockey League legend Martin St. Louis with the retiring of No. 8 to the rafters. -.An injury to senior Nick Bligh — the team’s hottest player at the time — on the first shift of the game proved costly as Dartmouth was unable to find the scoring touch with UVM’s Brendan Bradley scoring the game’s lone goal at 18:52 of the second period.

CAM STANDS STRONG -.Freshman Cam Strong has played in four games this season and now has a point in each of them. -.Strong scored a goal against both Quinnipiac and Princeton in the most recent contests and is averaging a point per game early in his career. -.The first Montana native ever to play for the Big Green, Strong currently leads the team in both goals (3) and points (4). BUFF STANDS ON HIS HEAD -.Yes, he allowed six goals, but Devin Buffalo was the lone reason Quinnipiac didn’t reach double digits in tallies on Friday night. Dartmouth’s netminder stopped 48 shots in the game, eclipsing his previous personal high set against Michigan in Ann Arbor last November in his first career start by 11. -.Buffalo’s previous best for saves in a game this season was 23 in a tie with Cornell. He nearly reached that figure in the second period alone against the Bobcats, turning away 20 shots in the frame. GOALS AND ERNIE -.Coming into the weekend, sophomore John Ernsting had just one career goal. He doubled that in the first two road contests of the year, scoring once against both the Bobcats and Tigers. -.Ernsting now has netted two of his three career markers against Quinnipiac as his first and only goal of his rookie campaign came in the home loss to the Bobcats in late January. FIRST MULTI-POINT GAME -.Sophomore Alex Jasiek picked up two assists in the first period of Friday’s loss at Quinnipiac, earning his first multipoint effort in a Dartmouth sweater. The second-year forward helped set up both Kevan Killistoff and John Ernsting for their first goals of the season. -.Jasiek was unable to add to that total as he was assessed a five-minute major and a game misconduct just 1:22 into the second period, ending his night after just 21 minutes of play. FIRST MULTI-POINT GAME… FOR A ROOKIE -.Freshman Will Graber became the first freshman to amass more than a single point in any game this year as he also assisted on a pair against Quinnipiac. -.Graber trails only Strong in rookie scoring as he has three assists this season, with two helping to set up Strong scores. 100 FOR OPPS -.After sitting out Friday’s game with a suspension, senior and alternate captain Grant Opperman will be playing in his 100th career game Tuesday night at Vermont. -.Opperman becomes just the 97th player in program history to reach 100 career games played. -.Tuesday is also special for the Wayzata, Minnesota, native as it is also his 23rd birthday. NEW HAVEN AREA AND SHOTS AGAINST -.Dartmouth allowed Quinnipiac to get 50 shots on goal in Friday’s game. The last time the Big Green allowed an opponent to fire 50 or more shots on goal in a game was back on March 11 of this year when Yale had 51 shots on goal in a 4-3 overtime loss in Game 1 of the ECAC Hockey Quarterfinals that Dartmouth would sweep en route to the league semifinals in Lake Placid. - .Outside of QU’s 54-shot performance, the Big Green have held its other four opponents to just 23.25 shots on goal per game. WHAT IN THE BLUE HECK IS A TIE?? Dartmouth was one of only two teams in the nation without a conference tie last season (Minnesota). Through four ECAC Hockey games this year, the Big Green have played to draws twice with both coming against Ivy League foes in Cornell and Princeton. GAMERS Dartmouth was assessed a pair of majors and game misconducts over the weekend with Alex Jasiek getting called against Quinnipiac and Josh Hartley against Princeton. Despite those two players earning 15 PIMs on one play, the Big Green still rank 15th in the nation in penalty minutes per game with 16.80.

Dartmouth remains the lone DI team without a powerplay goal this season. The Green are 0-for-31 with the man-advantage this season.

1.0

After a goal against both Quinnipiac and Princeton, freshman Cam Strong continues to average a point per game this season. He has a point in each of his four appearances and leads the team in both goals (3) and points (4).

2

Sophomore John Ernsting came into the weekend with just one goal to his credit in his career. He doubled that with one in each game of the weekend road trip. Ernsting’s first career goal came in a home loss to QU last season, making his tally at Princeton the first goal of his career not coming against the Bobcats.

FACTS AND FIGURES

GAME NOTES KILLER INSTINCT RIGHT OFF THE HOP Kevan Kilistoff scored his first of the season at 1:01 of the opening period against QU. The last time Dartmouth scored that early in a game was Jack Barre netting his third of the season against Yale at home on Nov. 7, 2015, finding the back of the net just 55 seconds into the game. POINTS FROM OUR POINTS! Prior to the weekend, the Green and White were the only team in the nation with a point from their defense. That changed on Kilistoff’s goal as he redirected a Cameron Roth point shot. Tim Shoup would add another in the third period, assisting on Strong’s first of the weekend. Connor yau would then get a helper at Princeton on Ernsting’s second of the trip as the point shot was altered in the slot. AGAINST HOCKEY EAST Tuesday marks the first of a possible three regular season games against Hockey East teams. After the Catamounts, Dartmouth will play host to New Hampshire on Dec. 11, while it could possibly play UMass Lowell as part of the Ledyard Classic that also features Army and Colgate. STILL NOT HOT The Big Green may have gotten over its lack of point production from its defense, but it still remains mired in an 0-for31 slump on the power play to open the season. The team went 0-for-8 against the Bobcats and then failed to score on another four chances against the Tigers. They remain the lone DI team without a PPG this season. WHAT’S AHEAD? Dartmouth will have this upcoming weekend off as part of the college’s exam schedule, but will return for two games at Robert Morris on Nov. 26-27. The Saturday game will be held at Bobby Mo’s home rink, while Sunday’s matinee is set to take place at PPG Paints Arena, home to the 2016 Stanley Cup Champion Pittsburgh Penguins. CREMA’S SECOND WINNER - .Senior Troy Crema scored with 2:16 left in regulation to give Dartmouth a 1-0 lead against Colgate. That goal would stand up as the game winner, his second in three contests this year. -.Only two players have scored more game-winning goals this season than Crema’s pair. Andrew Shurtz of Penn State and Mitchell Foster of Maine both have three winners to this point, but have played six and seven more games than Dartmouth’s senior. Crema’s 0.67 winners per game is far and away the best figure, aided by his smaller sample size of contests. -.The last Dartmouth player to notch two game-winnings goals in the third period or overtime in a season was Eric Neiley ’15 during his senior year. Neiley scored six total game winners that year with three coming in the third (home vs. Cornell, AIC and Princeton) and one in OT (at Clarkson). THE BRONCO’S TWO LATE POINTS -.Carl Hesler assisted on Crema’s winner against both Michign and Colgate, but was credited with the primary helper on the most recent one as he pushed the puck off the boards and up the wall to his senior linemate. -.Hesler’s first goal of the season came as he hit the empty net from just inside his own blueline. -.The goal was his second point in less than a minute and a half and made him the first Big Green player with multiple points this season. NO SLOUCH EITHER Crema might be getting all the attention for the late winners, but junior Corey Kalk has played a major role in the team’s unblemished record. Kalk not only set up Crema for the winner against the Wolverines, but he netted his first of the season at the perfect time against Cornell. Kalk responded to Cornell opening the scoring by finishing a rush just 2:13 later, scoring the game-tying goal.

DARTMOUTHHOCKEY

DROP THE PUCK There are benefits to being the home team in terms of being able to put your stick down second on the draw. Dartmouth is the nation’s best team on draws to this point, winning 110-of-191 faceoffs for a success rate of 57.6 percent. Union is second at 57.2 percent. The true test comes this weekend as the Big Green play their first game away from Thompson without last change and faceoff advantages.

4

TEAM DEFENSE The Big Green don’t seem too concerned with lack of scoring from the defense as it has allowed the fewest goals (3) and shots against (69), while it’s 1.00 goals against per game is also the top figure nationally. The shots against figure is understandably skewed given the number of games the team has played in relation to the rest of the country, but the 23.0 shots against per game mark is fifth in the nation and second in ECAC Hockey (Harvard / 21.75).

BOB GAUDET HEAD COACH | DARTMOUTH CLASS OF 1981

20th SEASON AT DARTMOUTH 29th YEAR AS HEAD COACH Ivy League Players of the Year, Mike Ouellette earned the honor in 2005-06 while David Jones was given the title in 2006-07. Jones was also an All-America, giving Gaudet four back-to-back players to earn that distinction. Gaudet took over Brown’s coaching reins in 1988 and immediately went about transforming the Bears from a perennial cellar-dweller into one of the ECAC’s top programs. During his tenure, Brown steadily climbed in the league standings, from 12th in ’89 to eighth in ’90 and ‘91, fifth in ’92, third in ’93, fourth in ’94 and all the way to second in ’95. Since his return in 1997, Gaudet began the same process at Dartmouth. The Big Green finished 11th his first two years, eighth in 2000, fifth in ‘01, third in ‘05 and was tied for first in 2006-07. During Gaudet’s time at Brown, the Bears were crowned Ivy League champion twice (1991 and 1995) and, in 1993, made the school’s first NCAA appearance since 1976. In both 1993 and 1995, he was a finalist for Division I Coach of the Year. He was named ECAC Coach of the Year in 1995 after leading Brown to a second-place finish in the league, just one-and-a-half games behind first-place Clarkson. The Bears also spent much of the year in and out of the top 10 in the national polls. Gaudet became head coach of the Bears in 1988 following a five-year tenure as an assistant coach with the Big Green. He assisted in all aspects at Dartmouth under head coaches George Crowe and Brian Mason, while coordinating recruiting efforts and serving as varsity goaltender coach. In addition, he directed the junior varsity program his first season in Hanover. Gaudet graduated in 1981 with a degree in visual arts after four productive seasons for the Big Green hockey team. In 1979 and 1980, Gaudet led the team to Ivy League titles and appearances in the NCAA Frozen Four. As a senior, he served as co-captain and was a recipient of the Philip D. McInnis Award for spirit, loyalty and dedication to Dartmouth ice hockey. In 76 career games, he made a school-record 2,129 saves, while allowing only 299 goals for a 4.00 career goals-against average and an .877 save percentage. He had his most successful campaign as a sophomore when he recorded two of his fourcareer shutouts to go along with a 3.03 goals-against average. He was First Team All-Ivy in 1978-79 and 1979-80, and was a two-time recipient of the Canterbury Society Award for the best Ivy League goalie. Following graduation, Gaudet signed a free-agent contract with the Winnipeg Jets of the National Hockey League. He played for minor-league affiliates of Winnipeg in the CHL and IHL for one year before a knee injury cut short his promising career. Gaudet and his wife Lynne, also a 1981 Dartmouth graduate, reside in Etna, N.H., and have three children: sons Joe and Jim and daughter Kelly. Eldest son Joe graduated from Dartmouth in 2010, while Jim earned his degree from the College in 2012. Both Joe and Jim played four seasons with the Big Green with each serving as an alternate captain in their final seasons with the team. Like her father, Kelly was a goaltender as well as co-captain of the girl’s ice hockey team while at Hanover High School. Kelly is a member of the Class of 2017 at Dartmouth.

In the last several seasons, Gaudet has reached several key milestones, earning his 200th win behind the Big Green bench in 2010-11, eclipsing the 300-career win mark in the first game of 2011-12 and reaching 800 career games coached, doing so in a 1-1 tie at Vermont in 2013-14. In 2014-15, Gaudet reached both 250 wins at Dartmouth and 350 career wins between Hanover and his time at Brown. In 28 seasons as a head coach, including the last 19 at Dartmouth, Gaudet has worked with and developed some of the nation’s top talents. Eight former Dartmouth players suited up for NHL teams in 2010-11 alone and 11 total in that time. Several more former student-athletes also played in other professional leagues in the last two years, including the KHL, AHL, ECHL and the CHL. Entering the 2016-17 season, Gaudet ranks second all-time at Dartmouth with 279 wins, trailing only Big Green legend Eddie Jeremiah ’30, who racked up 308 victories in 26 seasons with the program. The 2015-16 season was special for Gaudet for both his current and former players. He guided the Big Green back to the ECAC Hockey semifinals for the seventh time, becoming the first team in conference history to reach the league’s final weekend of competition without having a single player earn a spot on any of the three all-conference teams, demonstrating a team-first mentality. Ben Lovejoy ’06 also helped the Pittsburgh Penguins capture the fourth Stanley Cup in franchise history and, in the process, became the first Dartmouth player since Myles Lane ’28 in 1929 to win the Stanley Cup. Lovejoy, the first New Hampshire-born player to win the Cup, brought the trophy back to Thompson Arena for a public event where he was introduced to the crowd by Gaudet whom Lovejoy credited with “giving me a second chance at hockey.” After nine successful seasons behind the Brown University bench from 1988-97, Gaudet returned to Hanover for the 199798 campaign. In 2010-11, Gaudet and the Big Green made huge strides to return to national prominence. Dartmouth finished the season ranked No. 15 in the nation after posting 19 wins and winning the ECAC Hockey Consolation Game in Atlantic City, N.J. At Dartmouth, Gaudet guided the Big Green to seven straight winning seasons from 2000-01 to 2006-07 and had 20-win seasons in 2002-03 and 2004-05. The 20-13-2 record in 2004-05 marked the team’s fifth consecutive campaign above .500, the first time that had happened in school history. Gaudet has also led the Big Green to seven straight home playoff series, and in 2001, the program made its first trip to the ECAC semifinals in 20 years. He earned his 200th career win against St. Lawrence on Feb. 11, 2005 . The Big Green has won two titles under Gaudet. In 2007 Dartmouth captured a share of its first Ivy title since Gaudet was in net in 1980. The 2005-06 season gave Dartmouth its first-ever ECACHL title. Gaudet was also named ECAC Hockey’s Coach of the Year, making him the second coach to earn the award with two separate teams. He was also a finalist for the Division I Coach of the Year award. Gaudet has now had two
