The chapter 11 process has attracted multiple purchase offers, but in the end, the board believes that Crystal Cathedral Ministries’ greatest days are still ahead. “The board feels its great responsibility to pay the vendors 100% of what is owed as soon as possible,” says Sheila Schuller Coleman, Senior Pastor, “but also a responsibility to the local members and Hour of Power viewers, internationally, to retain the ministry’s headquarters intact. God’s Miracle Working Power Makes All Things Possible!
By Robert H. Schuller he joy-producing, energy-generating, success-stimulating process of possibility thinking will work miracles in your life if certain principles are followed. One of these basic principles is that your creative energies must be directed at a serious objective. There must be some deep, inner concern that gets the creative energy started in your heart, mind, and soul, and keeps it going. Only when your subconscious mind genuinely believes this objective to be highly important will the hidden powers slumbering in the deep regions of the unconscious rise up and awaken your creative consciousness. Some years ago, I experienced an example of this potential principle. Many friends were sitting around discussing the serious illness of a mutual friend who was in serious trouble because the arteries to his heart were almost completely blocked. There was no known surgical technique to help him at that time. However, God specializes in impossible problems, and today many of us are the recipients of bypass surgery, heart valve replacement, and even heart transplants—all impossible a generation ago. Turn your impossible problem over to God and trust that He has a solution, somehow, someway, someday. If you care enough and “tune in” to God’s ideas…your problem can be solved…your dream can come true! Believe in God’s miracle-working power to make all things possible!

es, there is a new sound coming from the worship loft of the Crystal Cathedral! As we endeavor to keep alive my father’s legacy—his unique ability to communicate the positive gospel of Jesus Christ from generation to generation—I want to thank you for your support of this new sound of worship! And we’ve discovered it is one very important way to reach the younger moms and dads, the youth, and others in their 20s, 30s, and even 40s and 50s. I didn’t set out to make a change in the music through
which we worship God each weekend. It was motivated initially by our financial crisis. When I realized we were paying professional choir members and instrumentalists over half a million dollars a year, we had to make a change. In our quest to find a way to bring music to the Hour of Power that we could afford, we explored different worship styles. As I interviewed pastors and conducted focus groups comprised mostly of seniors, I found one style to which nearly everyone responded, “I like this!” That was the style of Scott V. Smith, our now-Minister of Worship. His Grammy Awards—shared with Larnelle Harris and Wintley Phipps (some of our Hour of Power favorites) convinced me that this was God’s answer to our prayers.
Confirming our decision are the young people who have responded to this new style with such enthusiasm. Many new, young faces are appearing in the cathedral each week, and high school students have now volunteered to be a part of our choir. Teens are coming to church, bringing friends with them. Young people worldwide are saying, “I am discovering God through the Hour of Power and through you, Pastor Sheila.” of I know that it’s not always easy to hear new sounds and learn new music, but you may be encouraged to know that the lyrics to Scott’s music come straight from the Bible, and have become a great way to memorize scripture—for you and for me, and for the next generation.
