We’re now positioned to FOCUS ON LIFE-CHANGING MINISTRY, without any further distractions, and we’re launching this new era by seeking to find Eagle Partners in ministry…persons who will step up FIRST, with their pledges, forming the SOLID foundation that we will need to successfully launch and fulfill our fantastic New Vision: ➢ WE WILL grow our international television ministry—HOUR OF POWER—reaching out to include a younger audience so that this positive message of Jesus Christ will live on generation after generation, its format evolving to become more visible and accessible on the Internet and other leading-edge technologies. ➢ WE WILL continue to build a humanitarian track that demonstrates to those with the greatest need that God has not forgotten them, but He does love them—through HOPE CENTER—a place at the Crystal Cathedral where people who are living on the streets can find hope and begin to dream again. ➢ WE WILL fabricate, deliver, and build HOUSES OF HOPE for homeless families in Mexico. ➢ WE WILL plant Christian CHILDREN OF HOPE schools around the world in pockets of high illiteracy. ➢ WE WILL combat the growing and very hurtful epidemic of “cyberbullying” through NEW HOPE ONLINE, targeted at teens around the world who have lost all hope, some at the point of taking their own lives. An Unexpected Miracle… a New Life in Christ! By Debbie Bonilla
M
y mother had been watching the Hour of Power for a while and she wanted to give the Crystal Cathedral a try in person on a Sunday so she asked me to drive her. I couldn’t say no to my mother, so I began to drive her each week. However, everything I heard during services went in one ear and out the other. I was as broken as they come. I had a huge hole in my heart and I was very depressed. For years, I was quite good at hiding it, but in time, that became more difficult. So alcohol became my way out, a self-medication for the depression. I found it to be the only thing that would ease some of the pain. Alcohol was a big part of my life for a couple of decades. And the worse the drinking became, the more depressed I became, and the more people, family and friends, I alienated. Then the lonelier I became, the more I drank. Eventually, I found myself in the hospital, and that’s when I knew something had to change. I remember crying myself to sleep for many nights. Even though I didn’t yet have God in my heart, I still prayed to Him. My prayer was for my life to be over: “Please put me out of my misery. I don’t want to do this anymore.” Of course, He didn’t answer those prayers, and I thank God for that every day. So, that hospital visit was my turning point, when a miracle happened. Today, I’m two years sober—a 100% miracle in my life. I haven’t touched a drop. Jesus cured me; He saved me. The Lord reached down and set me free. I’ve been growing in my faith. God didn’t just save me and plunk me back in my apartment where I would be all alone. He actually raised me up into giving volunteer lay leadership in areas here at the church. He’s put a special calling on my life, so how could I say no? It’s a wonderful life. To people who are in the same, seemingly hopeless place that I was two years ago, I would encourage you toward your Savior, Jesus. He says in Matthew 11:28: “Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” I just want to say that, not only will He give you rest, He will set you free. You will begin to see miracles in your life. He’ll give you spiritual eyes so you can see those miracles happen, and you will activate the hand of God in your life. I want to encourage you to call out to Him and seek Him with your whole heart. Do it now.

Sometime ago we sent a prayer request for a friend who, for a long time, had failed to find employment and was losing faith in God and himself. You kindly passed the prayer request to the online Prayer Community. The GOOD NEWS is that after all this time, he was called to a long interview and has found a great job in Swansea in Wales. A New Attitude = A Life Without Fear!
S
o many of you have expressed your profound gratitude to my father, Dr. Robert H. Schuller, for his possibility-thinking message. Like you, I, too, was deeply influenced by him over the course of my life. And when I began my doctorate program in education, I learned the power of positive thoughts. In education, we focus on thinking, on cognition, and we learned about cognitive psychology in the process. Cognitive psychologists have always praised my father’s work as it lines up with their scientific research and theories. Cognitive psychology is simply this: Thoughts lead to feelings, which lead to behavior. So, if you want to change behavior; if you want to change feelings—focus on the thoughts. Change the thinking and you change everything! Change the attitude and you change the outcome. For example, if you think a fearful thought (perhaps it is triggered by a news story or a phone call from a doctor to schedule a follow-up test), that fearful thought can lead to fearful feelings, which can lead to behaving fearfully and making negative, sometimes-irreversible decisions during a down time. However, if you can capture those fearful and negative thoughts and make them obedient to Christ, then you can turn them around. Force yourself to meditate on a faith-filled Bible verse, such as: “I can do all things through Jesus Christ who strengthens me” (Philippians 4:13). Or: “I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord, plans for good and not for evil to give you a future and a hope” (Jeremiah 29:11). Then, that fear-filled thinking is replaced with faith-filled thinking, which leads to faith-filled feelings (so much better!) and behavior based on faith! This year, we are here at Hour of Power to be a center of hope for you and to encourage you to live a new life…a positive life…a faith-filled life. After all—if God is for you, who can be against you? And He wants you to know Him, to live for Him, and to have the best life possible! It all starts with centering your thoughts on Him and making every thought obedient to Christ!
