NEW! Introduction to the Zentangle® Method

Figure Painting and Drawing Ages 18Y and up

Volunteer Leader Neil Barth

Ages 18Y and up

Becky Ruiz Jenab

Uninstructed artists’ open studio workshop with live models for any skill level. Join this long established group of artists in drawing or painting directly from the model. Work at your own pace using your choice of medium. Length of poses will vary from a few minutes to an entire session. If new to figure drawing you may want to bring a pad of drawing paper and pencil or charcoal to begin. Seating in the class: first come, first serve. Class size is limited to 10 students.

What is it about making marks on sketchbook pages, notepads, or those little sample papers in front of the pen displays at the art store? It’s fun, soothing, and beautiful. That same appeal applies to the Zentangle® Method, an easy-to-learn, relaxing, and fun way to create beautiful images by drawing structured patterns. In this introductory class, students will learn the steps of this meditational art form and create their own Zentangle® tiles. No artistic experience necessary. Materials included.

Qigong means Breath or Energy Work. Taoist Qigong emphasizes relaxation and organ detoxification. We practice this outside in front of the community center for the fresh air, cleansing ourselves as a synchronized group. Then we go inside for very specific warm-ups that lubricate the joints, stretch the tendons and strengthen the muscles, especially the legs. The warm-ups also define the extended range of motion required for Tai Chi form training. Tai Chi was developed over 500 years ago for balance, longevity and self-defense acuity as one ages. Practical Spanish for Beginners Ages 18Y and up

Derrick Leonard

How long have you been saying to yourself, “I need to learn Spanish.”? Close to 40% of California residents speak Spanish or come from Spanish speaking backgrounds...and that number keeps growing. Spanish is no longer just a nice thing to know; it’s quickly becoming a very practical skill. You don’t have to go to another country to speak Spanish; it’s all around us. It’s spoken where we shop, where we work, and in our neighborhoods. Spanish is the easiest foreign language for English speakers to learn, with a similar alphabet and many words in common. In this class no previous Spanish knowledge is assumed. Whether you took two years of Spanish in high school or don’t know one word, you can learn Spanish. You just have to get started! Barcode
