L A N IO T A

The City of Orinda Parks and Recreation Department is unique amongst its peers, in part, due to the Orinda Youth Sports leagues the department manages, operating three out of four quarters a year. Among the current leagues offered to children ages Pre-K through 5th Grade, OYS Fall Soccer, Winter Basketball, Spring T-ball/Baseball and Spring Soccer, providing children recreational opportunities, and often introducing these sports and igniting the initial passion to play. Orinda Youth Sports serves approximately 2600 children (registrations) in one year, contributing to approximately 3,000 hours of instruction and play, which would not be possible without the endless hours of selfless dedication, compassion, and investment of time by our group of remarkable volunteers. Therefore, Orinda Parks and Rec would like to take this opportunity to say thank you and

Then we go inside for warm-ups to lubricate the joints, stretch the tendons, and strengthen the muscles. Warm-ups also define the extended range of motion required for Tai Chi form training. Tai Chi was developed over 500 years ago for balance, longevity, and self-defense acuity as one ages. Expect to feel peaceful, relaxed, and energized after this class. Yoga Iyengar AGES 18 & UP

INSTRUCTOR: JEANNE DOWELL

ADULT CLASSES | FITNESS, MARTIAL ARTS, MUSIC

Former instructor under the US Olympic committee and pioneer of the yoga movement in Lamorinda, Jeanne Dowell starts a new unique session of Yoga classes. She has studied yoga with the Iyengar’s at the Iyengar institute in Pune, India and through the world. Jeanne studied “yoga for healthy aging,” a program under Baxter Bell, MD. This program focused on strength, stamina, and balance as we age. This was yoga from a physician viewpoint which was another high point for Jeanne. Jeanne said, “What sets the Iyengar method apart is the focus on alignment and safety and is often referred to as “THE AGE REVERSING FORM of exercise.” Excellent for those with arthritis, chronic back and neck problems. Class ends with meditation and relaxation. All ages and levels are welcome! Group and private lessons available. You are welcome to take a class for a week to see if it is a good fit. Any questions, please contact Jeanne: jeannedowell@yahoo.com Code
