ELTI: Employee Labour Trust Index
What is the ELTI The Employee Labour Trust Index is the international statistical survey that Gi Group, through Gi Group Academy and in cooperation with OD&M Consulting, promoted and carried out in September across France, Germany, Italy, UK, Poland and Spain. Across the six Countries, the survey compared employees’ level of trust in the labour market as a whole and in three core areas of investigation: trust within the organisation, trust in the ease of re-employment and trust in national and institutions of international reference.

ELTI: Employee Labour Trust Index
Characteristics of the survey The survey was designed to investigate and compare, in six Countries of the European Union (France FR-, Germany -DE-, Italy -IT-, Poland -POL-, United Kingdom -UK - and Spain -ES-), employees’ level of trust both in the labour world as a whole and in three core dimensions: organisation, the market, and institutions.
Methodology Employee levels of trust are expressed on a scale from 1 to 100, where 50 is the reference value to distinguish confident from unconfident individuals. Consequently, values express “real” trust when they are equal to or higher than 50. The level of trust is considered high when values are equal to or higher than 60, limited when values are between 40 and 50, low when values do not reach 40.

Trust in Europe: findings
European employees express low trust in the labour market. The highest level of trust is expressed in the sphere of work relationships with the colleagues (63.11). European employees express “real” trust only in the organisation (over 50) and declare high trust (over 60) in colleagues -work relationships- and in the organisation as a “system”. The ease of re-employment is the index achieving the lowest trust ratings Europe-wide. Should they lose their job, employees expect it will take them about 11 months to find a new one. European employees declare low trust in institutions: the one achieving the least low levels of trust is the European Union, while political parties achieve the lowest trust ratings.
