During the Season of Easter, we engage in a new sermon series on believing. Belief is a nice idea, but the way it’s been defined in religious circles just won’t work for some of us. What if we can’t “just believe”? Jesus’ first followers had the same struggle—they came to believe in different ways. During the season of Easter we’ll consider different ways in which we come to believe. TODAY NO MUSIC FOR KIDS TODAY. Next session begins May 18 and we sing in worship on June 22. Join us! Contact Cheryl Branham. COMING UP TUESDAY LECTIONARY LUNCHES. Bring your lunch to the Library, 12:15-12:45 p.m., and join us for a fun, informal discussion on the Gospel Lesson of the week. Contact Trey Sullivan. THEOLOGY ON DRAFT, “AUTOBEEROGRAPHY:” TELLING OUR SPIRITUAL STORIES, Tuesday, 6:30 p.m. in Butler Hall. We focus on spiritual autobiography, discover biblical stories, and discuss modern spiritual memoirs. Contact Trey Sullivan. WEDNESDAY NIGHT WORDS starts a new session on May 7, 6:30 p.m. in G319. As part of our “Just Believe” series, we read Naomi Alderman’s novel The Liar’s Gospel, and consider what it might have been like to believe (or not) in Jesus, both while he was living and immediately after the crucifixion. We look at the beginnings of Christian belief through the eyes of Mary, Judas, Caiaphas, and other participants in the events of those days. HOLISTIC HEALTH PROJECT. We meet each Friday, 7:00-8:00 p.m., in the Teen Room for Zumba (G3) and in the gym for soccer (GB). Childcare is available. Contact Pastor Edgar.

WMS, WOMAN’S MISSIONARY SOCIETY meets Tuesday, May 13 for fellowship and mission activity. Bring a sandwich; veggies and dessert are provided. All are welcome. FRIDAY MORNING MUSIC CLUB. CROP WALK FOR HUNGER, Saturday, May 17. We meet at Calvary, 10:30 a.m., and walk to Franklin Square Park. DC CROP walk supports international hunger programs through Church World Service; locally through DC Hunger Solutions and Capital Area Food Bank. We are collecting canned goods for the food bank and monetary donations to CROP walk. Visit hunger.cwsglobal.org to register and donate to our team online. Give to Hunger Fund at church, using a pew envelope or online, or bring canned goods to Calvary by May 17. SACRED SPACES/URBAN ASSETS: FAITH COMMUNITIES, PROPERTY, AND MOVING BOLDLY INTO THE FUTURE. Join us Saturday, June 7 for an interactive conversation designed to give congregational leaders practical tools for understanding and leveraging their valuable urban property. Hear perspectives of a theologian, a change management consultant, a design specialist, and a developer. Think in creative ways about possible future scenarios for your faith community. Gather practical resources to help faith communities move into the future. Saturday, June 7, 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon, Woodward Hall, $15 per person. 2014 STEWARDSHIP TEAM. Calvary is seeking members to serve on the stewardship team for this year's campaign. If you're interested in joining us, contact Tom Vanaskie, stewardship chair, tvanaskie@gmail.com.
