CAR PARKING
The parking bay for disabled drivers is immediately outside the venue. Other visitors are advised to use the public car park on the left hand side further down South Street, leaving town.
RESTORATION LEVY
A £1 Restoration Levy is included in the price of certain live shows. This goes towards the upkeep and maintenance of the Grade II listed building.

The Bridport Prize, which is an international literary competition run as a fundraiser for the Arts Centre since the 1970s generated more than budgeted in 2018, with an even higher target set for 2019. We have introduced some funded community initiatives that include ‘Cabinets of Curiosity’ a reminiscence project with Bridport Museum, Care Homes and the Hospital, this has been funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund. Our other initiative has been the Young Programmer, Blake aged 14 years we pay him a wage and give him a budget to target films at the 14-25 year olds.

Although the income from shows is up, so are the costs. When you purchase a ticket the Arts Centre retains approximately 20% of the payment. In 2018 we introduced a Booking Fee of £1.50 per transaction to try and retain more money for the Arts Centre. A visceral and grooving contemporary jazz quintet made up of flamboyant alto sax player Len Aruliah, much-in-demand French bassist Guillaume Ottaviani,Tony Williams-esque Italian drummer Paolo Adamo, and Spanish impressionistic pianist Ana Gomez. The band is led by Swiss/English trumpeter and composer David Mowat who draws from Miles Davis, the Far and the Middle East and many stops in between for what Musician magazine described as his 'exceptional tunes'.
Tommy Cooper was a true comic genius. His impeccable timing, misfiring magic, trademark fez and quick-fire gags made him an international star.
This All-Encapsulating Show features John Hewer giving “a remarkably faithful performance” (Time Out) as he “captures the Cooper style, from mumbled speech and loud laughter to the awkward giant body language” (The Stage) and delivering “nuances both obvious and subtle” (Everything Theatre) as the man in the fez. Ballet in three acts, choreography by Kenneth MacMillan – with music by Sergei Prokofiev. Shakespeare’s enduring love story is known the world over. Since its 1965 premiere with The Royal Ballet, Kenneth MacMillan’s Romeo and Juliet has become a modern ballet classic.

A colourful cast of characters set off for Canterbury, competing to tell their tales of love, lust, adventure and chivalry. Brimming with verve and energy, Chaucer’s well-loved stories are brought beautifully alive by students from Bristol Old Vic Theatre School. All of medieval life is here, with the wide range of social strata rubbing shoulders as the Miller, the Steward and the Wife of Bath (among others) all have their tales to tell. The Canterbury Tales is a touchstone of English literature and has delighted readers for centuries.

A love story and a tragedy of epic proportions, the film sees Mozart in a Shakespeare in Love style drama with a Dangerous Liaisons tragic end. The storyline follows a brief interlude in the composer’s life during a visit to Prague. Tired of demonstrating his talents to a privileged elite, Mozart is brought to the Bohemian city by Baron Saloka, a vain and self-obsessed aristocrat. On his arrival, Mozart is happy to have found the one place on earth where he feels his talent is appreciated and sets about creating a new opera at the Nostitz Theatre. However, Mozart’s unconventional behaviour in Prague soon unleashes a series of dramatic and tragic events that go on to become immortalized in one of the world’s most famous operas, Don Giovanni.

From fossils to fishing, seashells to ships: an exhibition celebrating the sea from Bridport Museum’s collections. Bridport Museum cares for around 20,000 objects, of which only about 5% are on permanent display. This is a rare opportunity to explore the rare and wonderful treasures that are usually stored behind-the-scenes. Set in the surroundings of the beautiful Allsop Gallery, it promises to be a visual wonder of the riches and the rather more quirky items that have been collected over the last 70 years.
