VALMUN 2014 FRANCIS GARCĂ?A. Secretary General During his 15 years at the American School of Valencia, former Student-Council President Francis Garcia has participated in several Model United Nations conferences, including two MADMUN conferences, two THIMUN conferences (a third in 2015), and one VALMUN conference. VALMUN 2015 will be, however, the first time he is the Secretary General at an MUN conference. He has currently applied to Oxford University to study Philosophy, Politics and Economics in order to work in the field of politics in Spain.

MIREIA RAGA. Co-Secretary and Chair of the Human Rights Commission As a student at the ASV, Mireia has attended multiple MUN conferences from which she has learned skills to apply in her future career – International Relations. She participated in Madrid Model United Nations as the delegate of Somalia in the Human Rights Committee. Last year, she attended The Hague Model United Nations as the delegate of Guinea in the Human Rights Committee, and is currently attending the same conference as the delegate of Uganda in the General Assembly 3 and Valencia Model United Nations as Chair of the Human Rights Committee and Head Chair. CONFERENCE TEAM CHLOE GELACIO. Co-Secretary and Chair of the Environmental Commission Chloe Gelacio is Head Chair of the Environmental Commission. She is from the Philippines but has lived in Spain since the ninth grade and in Lebanon before that. She attended the THIMUN conferences 2012 and 2013 as a Delegate, and VALMUN 2013 as the Head Administration. Attending VALMUN 2014 will be her fourth MUN conference and her first time taking the role of a Chair, the only role she hasn’t taken yet. In both THIMUN conferences she attended, she participated in the Environmental Commission and she aspires to be an Environmental Engineer in the future. Thus, she is an environmentalist at heart. MUN has not only broadened her knowledge in global topics but has also helped her be more considerate of different opinions by providing a medium for students to step into the perspectives of different countries. As Chair, her aim is to encourage this growth in learning during the debates and to assure fruitful outcomes.

VALMUN 2014 is organized by American School of Valencia with the support of the ASV Foundation and the United Nations Support Base in Valencia

American School of Valencia is an international, multilingual, college-preparatory school founded in 1980 to provide an American and international educational experience in the Valencia Community. Our school has grown from its initial 27 students to educate more than 775 students from nursery to grade 12. Today, ASV offers three comprehensive college preparatory diploma programs: US Diploma, Spanish Diploma, and International Baccalaureate Diploma. The Profile of the Graduate, based on the IB Learner Profile, unites the school community with a common set of attributes to which we aspire to realize in all our students, with a particular focus on fostering international-mindedness.
