Our menus are constantly changing but to give you an idea of what is on offer, please view our sample menu. Our kitchens work hard to produce only the best quality home cooked meals for our residents. Everything is freshly prepared. With a 4 week menu plan, you are assured of a varied and enjoyable meal. We offer alternatives including vegetarian, diabetic, soft diets, and other specialist diet options. Where, when and how residents eat is very flexible and we cater to our residents wishes wherever possible. Themed food evenings allow residents to try foods that are a little different.

To ensure that you feel at home we encourage you to personalise your own room with your belongings. Furniture is already available, and we are also happy if you wish to bring your own. You will find our communal areas comfortable. In some homes we have a craft and hobby room, library, conservatory, garden lounge and lots of outdoor space to enjoy. Local doctors are available for any medical care, but if preferred and where possible, residents can have a doctor of their choice. Pastoral/spiritual care is made available by local churches, and arrangements can be made for visits by a member of the resident’s own denomination.

Codnor Park Residential Home is set off the main road through Codnor and we benefit from extremely good bus links to nearby Ripley and Heanor as well as Derby and Nottingham. Our purpose built residential home has 40 fully furnished en-suite rooms which residents are encouraged to personalise with their own belongings. There are communal areas where residents can make new friends or join in with the many daily activities. There is a large garden lounge which has french doors and large windows overlooking the maintained gardens. Upstairs there is a lounge for watching television and a library. We also have a resident cat called Molly.

Our home is set in lovely surroundings, we have a large grassed area and trees to the front, along with smaller areas to the back. There are two paved areas which during the summer have tables and chairs placed out so that Residents can enjoy the sun. There is also a lovely park area within the grounds with benches to enjoy the scenery. The kitchen is well equipped and serves good home cooked meals, with special diets catered for. Our menu is thoughtfully considered to ensure it is kept varied and interesting, whatever your dietary needs. All laundry is done on site daily and we even have a chiropodist, dentist, physiotherapist and GP when required. We have access to a heated swimming pool and spa with full facilities. Our friendly, well trained staff ensure quality care for all residents and are always happy to give help or advice whilst respecting privacy and dignity of individuals at all times. West Hallam care home was opened in 1988. Within easy travelling distance from Ilkeston, Derby and Nottingham. The Home is situated in a quiet residential area only minutes away from Shipley Country Park. The village provides many events throughout the year, including the annual Well Dressing. Local amenities include pubs, some of which provide restaurant facilities. The Bottle Kiln is a lovely place to visit for meals or a coffee and boasts a unique gift shop. The home provides regular activities, trips out and entertainment organised by our Activities Coordinator. There’s the opportunity to take part in the cookery, arts and crafts and gardening clubs not to mention the exercise classes.

Staff in both the main home and the extra care unit, work very hard to ensure that our residents are as active as they desire. Our extra care unit is set around a central courtyard with 12 en suite rooms and a lovely day room is ideal for residents with dementia. The unit offers round the clock care in this secure and safe environment. Everything from a menu board with pictures to help residents recognise what’s for dinner, to a clock that indicates whether it is day or night to help residents get a good night’s sleep, makes sure our residents get the best care. On site catering from our extremely dedicated cooks, ensures that all your dietary needs are met, with a well thought out varied menu, you will get great good home cooking every day. Valley Lodge is located on the outskirts of Matlock on the A6 Bakewell Road. The home is set within stunning countryside with panoramic views of the River Derwent and the High Peak Railway. The location provides easy access to Haddon Hall, Chatsworth House and Matlock Bath with its attractions and lively atmosphere. Valley Lodge has fantastic facilities with 62 bedrooms, most with brand new en-suites, 5 comfortable lounges, 2 dining rooms. The home boasts a craft room with a programme of entertainment run by our Activities Co-ordinator. Everything from live entertainment to painting to pamper days are all on offer.

Set in its own grounds The Firs Nursing Home is a 42 bedded home located in the town of Codnor. The home has retained its original warmth and charm whilst having been developed to the highest specifications, ensuring that all residents have the amenities necessary to enjoy our high quality care, and surrounded by beautiful gardens. Staff at The Firs are trained to a high standard and have recently been awarded the Bronze Standard in the Dignity Challenge Campaign and are working hard towards being the first home in Derbyshire to recieve the Silver Standard. The home was also a finalist for the Dignity in Care Award in the Great East Midlands Care Awards 2012.

The home frequently runs outings and day trips for all our residents as well as regular classes to encourage hobbies such as painting and gardening. We also have access to a hydrotherapy pool and spa with full facilities. The Firs has an Extra Care Unit devoted to the care of those with dementia. Our specialist unit provides a safe and secure environment with only twelve residents, allowing the very best care to be delivered by staff. We have the same staff in the unit to ensure our residents always see a familiar face. Smalley Hall is a 27 bed residential home on the outskirts of Smalley Village, Derbyshire. Located on the outskirts of the attractive Smalley village, the home is full of character having once been the coach house to Smalley Hall. This home has grounds with lovely views. residents can make good use of the pretty courtyard garden in. The trees and planting in the garden encourages wildlife and birds to visit. This garden is used for summer fetes and BBQ’s with family and friends.

With only 27 residents when full you can be sure that the attention to detail is second to none. Our well trained staff feel more like family as they are such a close knit team.

Manager Our activity coordinator offers all our residents the opportunity to get involved on many activities, including trips out, flower arranging and exercise classes. There are lots of things to keep you busy at Smalley, from arts and crafts, quizzes and games, to trips out and live entertainment. The home is also currently being updated to include an Activity Room which residents and staff are getting involved in decorating. Residents have access to a hairdresser who visits regularly, along with both a chiropodist and a physiotherapist. The local vicar comes to take service and Holy Communion for the residents that wish to take part. There is a choice of home cooked foods as well as catering for diabetics and other special dietary requirements. The King William is situated on the outskirts of Ripley and is set in beautifully maintained gardens overlooking a scenic view of Derbyshire. We are only a ten minute walk from Ripley town centre and within easy reach of Matlock, Crich Tramway Museum and the famous Derbyshire Peak Dales. The 28 bed residential home itself has plenty of character, having once been a public house. We specialize with all aspects of caring for the elderly and physically disabled. Home cooked food is a speciality, as are our bistro nights which gives the chef the opportunity to create authentic cuisine.

Kidsley Grange is a long established care home providing 24 hour care in a homely, friendly environment. We are situated on the outskirts of Smalley village on the main bus route between Derby and the market town of Heanor. The Home has open views over Shipley Country Park, which has wheelchair access leading to pleasant county walks, with a gift shop and tea-rooms on site. When full, this home only accommodates 26 residents making the attention to detail here second to none. The family feel to the home makes it homely and creates a warm atmosphere hard to find elsewhere. There is the main lounge and conservatory where activities and entertainment takes place.

We know that meeting the cost of care can be difficult. That’s why we keep it simple. The prices quoted per week are all inclusive. There is no sundry account, so whether you are private or receiving social services funding you can rest assured that you won’t be receiving any unexpected bills from us. So what’s included? Everything our residents need to be well looked after, including, chiropody, hairdressing, dental treatment, optician and physiotherapy. In addition all trips out, entertainment and activities within the home are covered or paid through fundraising activities. Also 24 hour care, a private bedroom, laundry and cleaning services including bed linen and towels, toiletries, homemade meals, all utility bills and council tax.
