Die vier-maande-oue Danté, seuntjie van Gerrie en Leoni de Bruyn van Louis Trichardt, het dringend inwoners se hulp nodig vir ‘n operasie wat hy moet ondergaan.

Danté is op 6 Januarie 2023 met ‘n gesplete verhemelte gebore. Aanvanklik was hy gesond en alles het goed gelyk. Leoni het so ‘n rukkie ná Danté se geboorte opgemerk dat hy ‘n opening in sy verhemelte het. “Een van die eerste tekens van ‘n gesplete verhemelte is dat melk by die baba se neus uitkom. Dit het egter nie met Danté gebeur nie, wat vreemd was,” sê Leoni.

Die De Bruyns het vir Danté dadelik na hulle dokter geneem, wat bevestig het dat Danté met ‘n gesplete verhemelte gebore is. Amica Bezuidenhout, Leoni se vriendin, noem dat Leoni haarself blameer het vir die feit dat sy dit nie onmiddellik raakgesien het nie. “Leoni se dokter het haar egter gerusgestel en gesê dat as die pediater tydens die ondersoek ná Danté se geboorte dit nie gesien het nie, hoe sou Leoni as nuwe ma dit kon sien?” vertel Amica.

Leonie noem dat Danté met die eerste operasie vir ses nagte in die hospitaal gaan wees en eers op die sewende dag ontslaan gaan word. Nasorg is egter van uiterste belang. Ten einde te verhoed dat Danté sy hande in sy mond druk, word sy armpies gespalk. Leoni sê dat hy ook glad nie ná die operasie mag suig nie en dat hy spesiale lepeltjies en drink-koppies moet gebruik. “Die lepeltjies is só ontwerp dat kos agterin sy mond gesit word,” sê Leoni.

Amica is reeds vir 12 jaar - sedert skooldaeLeoni se vriendin en het ingespring om te help waar sy kan. Leoni is ‘n onderwyseres en Gerrie is ‘n veseltegnikus. Aangesien die De Bruyns se mediese fonds nie al die onkostes van die operasie en allerlei ekstras (soos die plaatjies) dek nie, het Amica besluit om op Facebook ‘n “BackaBuddy” profiel te skep.

“Tyd is vinnig besig om uit te loop, en hoewel hierdie jong ouers alles in hulle vermoë doen om te spaar, soos om byvoorbeeld by familie in te trek, is dit net onmoontlik om self by hierdie tipe bedrae uit te kom.”

“Ons is na ‘n kakebeensjirurg wat vir Danté ‘n plaatjie gemaak het. Hy moet dit dag en nag dra. Ons maak dit net saans skoon,” sê Leoni. Sy voeg by dat Danté al ‘n tweede plaatjie dra, aangesien die eerste een te klein geword het.

Die spesialis, tesame met professor Kurt-W Bütow, wat al meer as 4 000 van hierdie operasies uitgevoer het, het aanbeveel dat Danté op 20 Julie vanjaar vir die eerste maal geopereer word by Die Wilgers hospitaal in Pretoria. Gedurende hierdie ingrypende operasie word die sagte verhemelte, asook die kleintongetjie (wat ook in twee verdeel is), geheg. Eers op die ouderdom van 18 maande gaan Danté ‘n tweede

Leoni, op haar beurt, het haar dankbaarheid uitgespreek teenoor die wonderlike ondersteuning wat hulle in meer as een opsig kry. “Dit maak alles regtig makliker.”

this weekend for a special regional elective council (REC) meeting. Two important positions, namely those of deputy chairperson and deputy secretary of the Vhembe region, need to be filled on Saturday.

The two positions became vacant after the murder of the previous deputy secretary and

Collins Chabane mayor, Moses Maluleke, last year and the death of the deputy chairperson of the regional ANC, Adv Makonde Mathivha. The Vhembe region is Limpopo’s second-biggest ANC constituency.

The coming election has split the local ANC structures into two groups. One group wants

the current mayor of Makhado Municipality, Samuel Munyai, to be elected as deputy chairperson, with Miyelani Chauke to serve as deputy secretary. Chauke is a councillor of the Vhembe District Municipality (VDM) but has come under fire after he was accused of illegally connecting water to his own business premises at Mhinga village. The faction supporting Munyai and Chauke’s appointment is led by the current regional chairperson of the ANC, Mr Tshitereke Matibe.

In the other corner is a faction led by the regional secretary of the ANC, Mr Rudzani Ludere. His group is backing VDM’s mayor, Dowelani Nenguda, as deputy chairperson, with the mayor of Collins Chabane Municipality, Shadrack Maluleke, as deputy secretary.

Ludere warned members not to use the congress to divide the party in the region. He said that the special REC should focus on the task at hand as they were gearing for the 2024 general election.

“We have no doubt that the regional leadership, in consultation with the provincial leadership, have done everything in their power to ensure that all is well and all systems are ready,” said Ludere.

Local model to feature in Middle East fashion magazine

A young model from Louis Trichardt, the 23-year-old Rumaanah Jamadar, will soon see her picture appear in Harper’s Bazaar Arabia – the Middle East’s luxury fashion magazine that is read worldwide.

“I currently work as a model in Johannesburg, but I recently won the first place for a photo that

was taken while I was visiting home. I would like to thank Elize van der Goot for her horse and the Louis Trichardt-based photographer, Elné Cameron, for this opportunity,” said Rumaanah. She added that she felt Elné’s stunning photographic abilities had secured her first place.

Rumaanah matriculated at Louis Trichardt High School in 2017. Thereafter, she studied education with Unisa. In 2019, she started as a face model in Johannesburg for one of the big make-up companies. “I teach kids online in the mornings and in the afternoons I do my modelling work,” said Rumaanah.

Rumaanah became interested in modelling by watching TV series. She thought: “I could become one of these beautiful girls. I can even be better.” Her manager required a portfolio from her. One of the shoots that she had to do was in an Arabian style. This is where the photoshoot with the horse came in.

Elné writes on her Facebook page: “What an experience to have had the opportunity to do a photo session with a horse for the first time. It was such an amazing and fun photoshoot. Thank you, Elize van der Goot, for all your kindness and assistance with Khado the horse, we really did appreciate your time.“

Rumaanah continues: “I am so grateful for winning this first place and will have to represent myself later this year by going to Dubai, once the photograph is published. The editorial team of Harper’s Bazaar Arabia still needs to decide whether my photograph will be part of an article or if it will be used on the cover,” she says.

Rumaanah is the second of three children and she says that, without the motivation of her parents, Istiyak and Gory Aboo Jamadar, she would not have reached these heights. “I never thought I would be a model. In the modelling world, they refer to me as the “plaas” (farm) girl!

Death of EEF councillor comes as shock to many

The community of Musina learned with shock and disbelief about the sudden death of well-known local politician Cllr Tebogo Selina Phiri. Phiri (43) was admitted to Messina Hospital, where she died from an undisclosed illness on Wednesday evening, 10 May.

Phiri served as a member of Musina Local Municipality’s executive committee (EXCO) since November 2021. She was a proportional representative (PR) councillor, representing the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF). Before she took up the position of councillor at the municipality, she served as station manager for Musina FM.

Her husband, Mr Aubrey Maluleke, was very emotional when he broke the news.

“This is a very difficult time for the family, but we are very thankful for the support from family members, Musina Municipality, friends and the entire Musina community,”

he said.

During an urgent commemorative special council meeting on Monday, 15 May, Musina Mayor Nkhanedzeni Mawela conveyed his sincere condolences to the Phiri family, her political party and everyone who had had the pleasure of knowing and working with her.

“We wish to thank the Phiri family for allowing her to serve the people of Musina with diligence until her untimely departure. We share their pain and grief, and we pray that the family finds strength from the Almighty in these trying times,” he said. All political parties represented in the council were given an opportunity to present messages of condolence during Monday’s council meeting.

Three separate memorial services, organised by various stakeholders, to honour the late Phiri will take place on Wednesday (17th), Thursday (18th) and Friday (19th), while she will be laid to rest in Musina this coming Saturday, 20 May.

“My biggest dream is to start a motivation school for girls. This will be for everybody - irrespective of appearance, size etc. The focus will

be on what is in the heart. I firmly believe that if you can dream it, you can achieve it,” an excited Rumaanah shared.

Mopanie se bekende oom Kosie (88) oorlede

Deur Andries van Zyl Inwoners van die Soutpansberg het met hartseer verneem van die dood van een van die streek se jarelange inwoners, oom Kosie de Bruin, in die ouderdom van 88 jaar op 29 April vanjaar.

Jacobus Petrus de Bruin, alombekend as oom Kosie, was in murg en been ‘n boorling van die Soutpansberg. Hy is op 3 Desember 1934 in die ou kraaminrigting (waar die Zoutpansberg Privaathospitaal vandag geleë) in Louis Trichardt gebore. As jong seun het hy sy laerskoolloopbaan op Mopanie begin, waarna hy Standerd 6 en 7 by Happy Rest buite Louis Trichardt klaargemaak het. Hy het sy hoërskoolloopbaan aan Hoërskool Louis Trichardt voltooi.

Ná skool het oom Kosie as laboratoriumtegnikus begin werk by Sasol. Hier het hy dan ook sy vrou, tannie Febé, ontmoet. Die twee is getroud op 19 Julie 1958 in die destydse Messina, nadat oom Kosie besluit het om te gaan boer op die plaas Dreyer in die Messina-distrik. Vier kinders is uit die huwelik gebore, naamlik Santa Fivaz

(wat tans in Wapadrand, Pretoria, woon), Ronel (wat ongelukkig op drie maande gesterf het), Vicus (woonagtig in Tzaneen) en Alet (ook van Tzaneen).

“My pa het homself ingeleef in die boerdery, gemeenskap en kerk. Hy was ook deel van die boerevereniging en skool en het op al die komitees gedien vir baie jare,” onthou Alet haar pa. Oom Kosie het vir 30 jaar vir Maswiri Boerdery in die pakstore gewerk vir oom Andries Fourie. In 2000 het hy en tannie Febé besluit om die plaas Dreyer te verkoop, waarna hulle na Nylstroom (vandag Modimolle) verhuis het. Hulle sou daarna ook tyd by hulle kinders deurbring, en met oom Kosie se afsterwe was hy en tannie Febé by Alet op Tzaneen woonagtig.

Hy is op 29 April in die Tzaneen Medikliniek oorlede.

‘n Roudiens vir wyle oom Kosie is op 6 Mei vanuit die NG Kerk Moedergemeente op Louis Trichardt gehou, waar hy en sy familie jare lank lidmate was. Die diens is waargeneem deur ds. Jan Pretorius.

Die familie het hulle dank uitgespreek teenoor die Soutpansberg-gemeenskap vir hulle woorde van

vertroosting en ondersteuning met die afsterwe van oom Kosie. Hy word oorleef deur tannie Febé, met wie hy 64 jaar getroud was, kinders, sewe kleinkinders en een agterkleinkind.

Die bestuur van Bergcare in Louis Trichardt het hulle dank uitgespreek teenoor al die plaaslike eiendomsagentskappe wat deelgeneem het aan ‘n uitdaging tussen mekaar om broodnodige toiletware in te samel en aan Bergcare te skenk. Die uitdaging is geloods deur Anthetico Eiendomme, met Realty 1 and Harcourts wat daaraan deelgeneem het. Die agentskappe daag ook ander besighede uit om steeds Bergcare te ondersteun. Hierdie week, 25 jaar

gelede in die Zoutpansberger

Hierdie week, 25 jaar gelede, het voortslepende watertekorte tot gewelddadige protesaksie op Waterval gelei, waartydens ten minste drie mense ernstig gewond is.

Op die voorblad van 15 Mei 1998 word berig hoe lede van die Waterval-gemeenskap opgeruk het na die plaaslike regering se kantore in die woongebied omdat hulle reeds sedert 1995 gesukkel het om water te kry. Twee mense is gewond toe daar op die taxi waarin hulle gereis het, geskiet is by ‘n polisie padblokkade. ‘n Derde protesganger is deur ‘n af-diens polisiebeampte geskiet, ook by ‘n padblokkade. Hartseer genoeg, 25 jaar later sukkel die hele Vhembe streek steeds met ernstige water probleme, danksy die Vhembe Distriksmunisipaliteit se onvermoë om effektiewe watervoorsiening te lewer.

In ander voorbladnuus het die Groter Louis Trichardt Oorgangs raad besluit om hulle kontroversiële ontwikkeling noord van Stubbsstraat in Louis Trichardt se “groen gordel” eers te staak ná hewige openbare beswaar. Vir dekades lank het die raad telkens probeer om die area, wat reeds in 1984 vir dorpsgebied-ontwik keling geproklameer is, te ontwikkel. Begin 2022 het die Makhado Munisipaliteit, sonder enige aankondiging, bloot be gin om die gedeelte te ontbos vir infrastruktuurontwikkeling

en later aangevoer dat hulle niemand se toestemming nodig gehad het nie, aangesien die beoogde ontwikkeling reeds in die 1980’s goedgekeur is. Huidiglik het die hele projek in die area noord van Stubbsstraat klaarblyklik weer tot stilstand gekom.

Young citizen scientists confirm water is healthy

A group of children from Mara Primary School in Buysdorp turned into budding young environmental scientists last week, when they visited the nearby stream to take water samples and have these analysed. Much to their delight, it turned out that they have a “healthy” water source, with very little contamination.

The outing last Tuesday (9 May) formed part of the “Diamonds on the Soles of Our Feet” project, funded by the National Research Foundation and managed by a team from the University of the Western Cape and the Department of Water and Sanitation. This is an award-winning citizen science project, through which not only local water sources get monitored, but local communities are taught about the importance of protecting clean water resources.

“The project is transforming volunteers in these remote rural areas from being passive and not engaging with science, to becoming scientists themselves,” said Prof Jacqueline Goldin, an associate professor extra-ordinary in the Faculty of Natural Sciences, Centre for UNESCO Chair in Groundwater, at the University of the Western Cape. Prof Goldin is the spokesperson for the project.

The “active” part of the project was thoroughly enjoyed by 42 of Mara Primary School’s learners. The children, from Grade 5 to 7, visited the stream flowing from the mountains at Buysdorp where they helped collect samples, using special water-health testing kits.

According to Mr Murendeni Mavhungu, the

science field manager of the project, the goal of the project is not only to gather reliable data on water health, but also to encourage a sense of pride, belonging, dedication and empowerment through their actions. The local teachers are also involved and are taught how to use a scoring system to check the health of rivers and wells.

The citizen scientists use Mini SASS, a uniquely South African scoring system, where they calculate the number of aquatic invertebrates to determine the river health. The freshwater-quality monitoring kit supplied by a non-profit organisation, Earthwatch Europe, is a special kit that determines the level of phosphate and nitrates in the water as well as the turbidity of the water.

Once the results are available, these are transmitted via cellphone straight to official data-collection centres, which compile data required for the formulation of water policy as part of SDG 6.3.2. The data platform has been designed and is managed by Earthwatch.

Learners are also encouraged to raise awareness in their municipalities, schools, businesses and tribal authorities about the water conditions in the rivers and wells in their area.

Rosina Kgadima, the principal of Mara Primary School, reckoned that the project was not only beneficial to the school but to the whole community. “Learners were very happy participating in this project,” said Kgadima.

The tests conducted at Buysdorp last week showed no presence of nitrates and phosphates in the water. The scoring system showed that the river had a score of greater than 6.9, meaning the river water is still in its original condition.

Ridgeway staff celebrate Mother’s Day

The staff at Ridgeway Preparatory outside Louis Trichardt surprised their parents on Friday, 12 May, with what will become their annual Mother’s Day Drive Thru. The parents were treated to a special coffee and muffin as they navigated the morning school run. Limpopo Strongman Competition

The Soutpansberg will again play host to the Limpopo Strongman Competition on 20 May, this time at AFB Makhado.

The competition will cater for all ages group, including novices, and will serve as an SA Strongman qualifier.

The special guest on the day will be Gérhard van Staden, or the “Lion King” as he is known. He is the President of the Africa Strongman Union. Entry is free for spectators, and a shop and take-away meals will be available.

The event is organised by local strongman Leon le Roux, in conjunction with Paul’s Body Shop Fitness Centre at AFB Makhado.

The Louis Trichardt SPCA‘s next Mutt Mile will take place on 27 May, but at a different venue. This time, it will be held at the Muscle Den Gym at Louis Trichardt High School and will coincide with the gym’s family-friendly Murph Challenge. Die program sal bestaan uit ‘n ete met allerlei heerlike geregte uit die plaaskombuis teen R200 per persoon, waarna die veiling sal begin. Hierdie jaar word verskeie wegbreekopsies (verblyf), asook ander gesogte items soos ‘n braaitrollie, handgemaakte messe, ‘n beroepsjagterkursus, ‘n bees agterkwart en ‘n geskenkbewys ter waarde van R8 500 van CJO Welding, benewens die jagpakkette en wyne opgeveil. Die jagpakkette sluit in geweerjag en boogjag, met wild soos bosbok, koedoe, rooibok, wildebees, bosvark, njala, blesbok en eland wat gejag kan word. Nuwe items op die lys is ‘n tiervisvanggeleentheid en ook ‘n ete vir vier persone. Delville Wood commemorated

July 2023 marks the 107th anniversary of the Battle of the Somme, one of the bloodiest battles in human history.

Between 1 July and 18 November 1916, more than one million men were wounded or killed on the banks of the river Somme in France. Among the soldiers killed and injured were more than 2 400 South Africans who

fought for control over a small piece of land in the northeast of France, called Delville Wood.

Reeds met die bou van die spoorlyn vanaf Tzaneen tot by Musina is druk geplaas op die owerhede om die roete deur Louis Trichardt te neem. Die vleilande en nat grond in die dorp het egter probleme

veroorsaak en ‘n besluit is geneem om die roete sowat vier myl (6,4 kilometer) wes van die dorp te laat verbygaan, waarna dit in die rigting van die Sandrivierpoort wegswenk. Vroeg in Januarie 1912 het bouwerk begin aan die gedeelte tussen Bandelierkop en Louis Trichardt. Op 3 Maart 1913 is die gedeelte van die spoorlyn wat tot naby Louis Trichardt gaan, amptelik geopen. Die eerste stasie was suid van die dorp, in die omgewing van die afdraaipad na Ledig. Die openingsgeleentheid is bygewoon deur die distrik se magistraat, mnr. C.A. Wheelwright, en die

voorsitter van Louis Trichardt se gesondheidskomitee, mnr. W. Brown.

Die dorpsraad was vasbeslote om die spoorlyn tot in die dorp te kry en het ‘n stuk grond van 200 morg (171,2 hektaar) opsygesit wat die Staat vir die doeleindes van ‘n stasie kon onteien. ‘n Spesiale pad is ook van die stasie na die dorp gebou. Die pad het die markplein, via Burgerstraat, met die stasie verbind. In die 1920‘s is verskeie bloekombome ook aangeplant en dit het bygedra daartoe dat die grond in die dorp droër en meer geskik vir ‘n spoorlyn geword het.

Op 24 Augustus 1925 het die minister van spoorweë Louis Trichardt besoek en die raad het ‘n sterk kontingent van invloedryke plaaslike mense byeen gekry om die noodsaaklikheid van ‘n stasie in die dorp te beklemtoon. Van dié beloftes het egter min gekom en in Februarie 1927 het die dorpsraad ‘n afvaardiging gestuur om met die plaaslike lid van die Volksraad, adv. Oswald Pirow, te beraadslaag. Die afvaardiging het bestaan uit raadslede J.B. Bergh, J.A. Beyers, J. Hirschon en die dorpsekretaris. In Junie 1927 het die regering goedkeuring gegee vir die bou van die nuwe stasiekompleks.

Een van die voorwaardes vir die bou van die spoorlyn was dat die dorpsraad die grond gratis moes verskaf aan die administrasie van die SA Spoorweë en Hawens. Ten einde dit reg te kry, moes die raad ruiltransaksies aan-

gaan met verskeie inwoners, ingevolge waarvan hul ander erwe ontvang het.

Op 2 Mei 1928 het die uitvoerende raad van die provinsie die projek goedgekeur en die bou van die spoorlyn het in alle erns begin. Die nuwe stasie het ook dadelik ‘n uitwerking gehad op die dorpsbeplanning en Krugerstraat is verleng om by die nuwe spoorweghalte aan te sluit.

Die spoorwegstasie op Louis Trichardt is amptelik op 10

Oktober 1928 geopen. Wat die stasiegebou self betref, spog dit met ‘n unieke geskiedenis. Dié gebou het eens by die treinstasie in Pietersburg (Polokwane) gestaan. Toe die stad ‘n nuwe treinstasie gekry het, het siviele ingenieur H.F Greaves, oupa van bekende inwoner John Greaves, opdrag gekry om die ou stasiegebou in Pietersburg blok-vir-blok uitmekaar te haal en weer in Louis Trichardt aanmekaar te sit waar die gebou vandag staan.

The proposed road requires gravel material for road works from the one borrow pit identified.

The Project triggers the following activities: NEMA EIA Regulations, 2014 Listing Notice 1 (BA): Activity 21(a) - Any activity including the operation of that activity which requires a mining permit in terms of section 27 of the MPRDA, including (a) associated infrastructure, structures and earthworks, directly related to the extraction of a mineral resource; and Activity 27(i) - The clearance of an area of 1 hectare or more, but less than 20 hectares of indigenous vegetation.

Tyd raak min om wenfoto in te skryf

Kompetisie

Die tyd is besig om vinnig uit te loop vir die streek se fotograwe om hulle foto’s in te stuur vir die Zoutpansberger se gewilde kalenderfotokompetisie vir Mei.

Die streek se fotograwe sal tot en met die laaste week van elke maand hulle foto’s vir daardie maand kan inskryf, waaruit een wenfoto vir elk maand gekies sal word.

‘n Maksimum van vyf foto’s per fotograaf per maand kan ingestuur word, maar fotograwe kan vir meer as een maand inskryf. Oudergewoonte soek ons na daardie spesiale foto wat die uniekheid van die Soutpansberg-streek uitbeeld, van unieke landmerke en besienswaardighede tot die natuurlewe. Die foto moet

egter binne die afgelope 24 maande geneem gewees het en moet die fotograaf se eie werk wees.

‘n Prys van R600 sal vir elke maand se wenfoto betaal word. Elke maand se wenfoto sal in die laaste week van die maand gepubliseer word, tesame met ‘n paar ander goeie foto’s wat daardie maand ontvang is. Wat beoordeling betref, sal gekyk word na tegniese aspekte soos beligting, skerpheid en komposisie. Ten opsigte van die tegniese aspekte van fotografie kan aandag gegee word aan die volgende paar aspekte: Slegs hoë-resolusie digitale foto’s (verkieslik landskap-formaat) sal aanvaar word. Die foto’s (wat goeie kwaliteit selfoonfoto’s ook kan insluit) kan in hoë resolusie per e-pos

gestuur word na news@ zoutnet.co.za, of op CD of geheuestokkie ingehandig word by die kantore van die Zoutpansberger te Joubertstraat 16B in Louis Trichardt. Elke inskrywing moet vergesel wees van die fotograaf se naam, kontakbesonderhede, waar die foto geneem is en met watter kamera dit geneem is.

Die 12 wenfoto’s sal aan die einde van die jaar in ‘n groot-formaat muurkalender vir 2024 saamgevat word. Die kalender sal dan onder meer deur die Zoutpansberger gebruik word vir bemarkingsdoeleindes.

Laerskool Louis Trichardt se jong trappers het ook Saterdag, 13 Mei, deelgeneem aan die vierde en laaste ronde van die Limpopo XCO-bergfietsreeks wat by Moorddrift buite Mokopane aangebied is. André van Ree (agter) het ‘n tweede plek in die afdeling vir sub-junior seuns behaal en algeheel eerste in die provinsiale reeksgeëndig in sy ouderdomsgroep. Mauritz Meiring (voor regs) was tweede in die Nipper-afdeling vir seuns die dag en daarmee ook tweede algeheel in die provinsie in dié ouderdomsgroep. Elana Burger (voor links) was vyfde die dag in die Nipper-afdeling vir meisies, maar haar prestasies in die vorige wedrenne was goed genoeg om aan haar ‘n algehele derde plek in die reeks te besorg in haar ouderdomsgroep. Die vierde en laaste ronde van die Limpopo XCO-bergfietsreeks is Saterdag, 13 Mei, by Moorddrift, Mokopane, beslis. Jacques de Preez (links) was een van Hoërskool Louis Trichardt se fietsryers wat uitstekend presteer het. Hy het tweede in die Junior-afdeling vir seuns geëindig. Eerste was Willie Willemse (middel) en in die derde plek was Waldo Strijdom. Jacques is ná afloop van die reeks ook gekies om Suid-Afrika te verteenwoordig tydens die AFCON-kampioenskappe wat vanaf 1 tot 4 Junie by Thaba Trails, Johannesburg aangebied word. Nog twee ryers van Hoërskool Louis Trichardt, Nduvho Mudugwe en Marco Nortjé, het onderskeidelik vierde en negende in die Junior-afdeling vir seuns geëindig. Kombo Bere, ook van Louis Trichardt, het op sy beurt tweede in die Elite-afdeling vir mans klaargemaak en sal ook aan die AFCON-kampioenskappe deelneem, maar in die klere van sy geboorteland, Zimbabwe. Trichardt besig om die gholfwêreld aan die brand te speel. Hy het Saterdag, 13 Mei, die Tzaneen Junior Ope se o.10-afdeling gewen met ‘n telling van 84 houe oor 18 gaatjies. In Februarie

vanjaar het Tristan ook die o.10-afdeling van die Polokwane Junior Ope ingepalm, 12 houe beter as sy naaste teenstander, met sy bruto-telling.

Pa Anrich (ook ‘n kranige gholfspeler) en ma Geraldine Leeb is baie trots op hulle seun. Beide Tristan en Anrich is lede van die Soutpansberg Gholfklub. Foto verskaf.

The event takes place at Louis Trichardt Tree Sanctuary, Limpopo Tourism Info Centre, Corner of Songozwi Street and N1.

What does it cost to join in?

Nothing - it’s free! but please register before your first run. Only ever register with parkrun once. Don’t forget to bring a printed copy of your barcode (request a reminder). If you forget it, you won’t get a time.

How fast do I have to be?

Die Old Mutual-span het Saterdag, 13 Mei, tweede geëindig tydens die Louis Trichardt DBV se jaarlikse gholfdag, ook met ‘n telling van 113 ná ‘n uittel. Ná afloop van Saterdag (13de) se wegwedstryde teen Hoërskool Nylstroom en Hoërskool Frikkie Meyer, het Hoërskool Louis Trichardt se hokkiemeisies rede om te spog. In vier van die wedstryde is Triegies aangewys as Speler van die Wedstryd.

Triegies se o.14-span het beide hulle wedstryde die dag teen die twee skole 1-0 gewen, met Chrizette Odendaal wat Speler van die Wedstryd was ná hul kragmeting teen Frikkie Meyer. Die o.15’s speel onderskeidelik 0-0 en 1-1 gelykop, met Shangi Shivuri wat Speler van die Wedstryd was in die Nylstroom kragmeting.

Die o.16’s het 4-0 gewen teen Nylstroom en hier isMia le Roux as Speler van die Wedstryd aangewys. Triegies het ook 0-0 gelykop teen Frikkie Meyer gespeel, met Amelia Scheepers wat Speler van die Wedstryd was.

Triegies se eerstespan het 0-0 gelykop gespeel teen Nylstroom, maar 1-2 verloor teen Frikkie Meyer. Die skool se tweedespan het ook naelskraap hulle stryd teen Nylstroom 0-1 verloor.

Slegs ‘n week van tevore (6de) het Triegies tuis te staan gekom teen Hoërskool Piet Potgieter, waartydens die o.14’s 4-0 gewen, die o.15’s 3-0 gewen, die o.16’s 0-0 gelykop gespeel en die eerstes 2-0 gewen het. Slegs die wedstryde teen Potties is deel van die liga waarin Triegies deelneem.

3 punte teenoor 57 aanteken, terwyl die eerstes 24-22 gewen het.

Die rugbymanne het ook ‘n week vantevore teen Hoërskool Piet Potgieter uitgedraf op Triegies se tuisveld. Die o.14’s het 20-5 en die o.15’s het 36-07 gewen, die o.16’s het 22-27 verloor en die eerstes het 26-10 gewen.

Hoërskool Louis Trichardt se rugbymanne het ‘n harde naweek agter die rug, met nog ‘n ligawedstryd teen Hoërskool Nylstroom wat plaasgevind het. Alle wedstryde is op Nylstroom gespeel, met die o.14’s wat 17-12 gewen en die o.15’s wat 12-17 verloor het. Die o.16’s kon sleg
