FC Woodford are an up and coming club, and have had sustained success since their re-branding. Formerly known as Poynton Kingfisher, the club was languishing in the East Cheshire League whilst playing home games at the Woodford Recreation ground. Current manager Ed Haslam and current secretary Bob Haslam took over the team at the beginning of 2012/13 season bringing in new players, new policies, UEFA B level coaches, Chris Kirk as Chairman and added committee members; the new FC Woodford delivered their first ever league title. This was followed by an unbeaten season, and second consecutive league title, in the Altrincham and District league. After a difficult application to the Cheshire league, and a change of home venue to the Stockport Sports Village FC Woodford became Charter Standard and the club continued to progress. FC Woodford have acquitted themselves well in Cheshire League 2 and still have the possibility of Silverware in the JA Walton Challenge Cup, where the club have taken top spot in their group.

WYTHENSHAWE TOWN FOOTBALL CLUB Pride of Wythenshawe

Wythenshawe Town History….

Formed in 1946, and playing at Hough End Fields on Princess Road, Withington, Wythenshawe Town were originally known as North Withington FC, but were eventually re-named in 1987; after a few seasons at their new ground in Wythenshawe. The ground was named Ericstan Park as a tribute to Eric Reynard and Stan Orme who were prime movers in the club's early days.

WYTHENSHAWE TOWN F.C.

Welcome to Ericstan Park today, hope our visitors have had a safe trip to Wythenshawe. This is a game which everyone at the club has very much been looking forward to after a great encounter with our visitors, FC Woodford right at the beginning of the season. We look forward to celebrating the title win with the fans after the game. Today presents another tough task with promotion hopefuls FC Woodford visiting Ericstan Park. They are a very good Cheshire League side and have adapted to this league very well since moving prior to the season’s start. Today can see the title won and the players will do everything in their power to make sure that happens today The visitors have some very good players in their squad which is justified by inter-league call-ups throughout the season and the task we have, will be tough but like every week, we instil the expectations and a fight into the players which is needed going into every game as talent can only get you so far. The club’s momentum is gaining pace and we need your support, so get your season tickets for the 2015/16 for just £12 and you’ll be supporting the Wythylution. Along with that, if you can sponsor the club from just £5 then we need your support. Sponsors and supporters drive the club forward to the next level. With your support our task of getting to the NWCFL is made easier. If you want to volunteer any of your spare time to the club email wythenshawetown@gmail.com.

Last few weeks have been positive, with great wins against Mersey Valley and Irlam Reserves which won us the title. Along with a massive win against higher league opposition when we beat Grappenhall 0-9 away. The season reaches its climax very soon. The Altrincham FA Senior Cup Final versus Broadheath Central and the Manchester FA Amateur Cup Final against Failsworth Dynamos are very soon and we need you to carry on your amazing support. These are another 3 big points in the great Cheshire League 2 campaign for Wythenshawe Town and I hope everyone who has watched, volunteered and got behind the team this season has enjoyed it. The players have shown tremendous strength to get such performances throughout the season so far. Not only is the squad progressing but the club overall is. Away from the 1st XI, a mention must be given to the Reserves who have had a good season competing for the title and league cup whilst the U21s are in the Final of the league cup. Last of all the junior teams have contributed hugely to the success of the club, so well done to everyone involved and thanks to the hard work the coaches, players and volunteers put into the club. So stay for a drink in the clubhouse after the game with the players. The supporters are one of the driving forces of this club and every single player appreciates the support the fans bring each and every game. ENJOY THE GAME

Woodhead (2), Brooks (2)

Wythenshawe Town travelled to Irlam Reserves for a Cheshire League 2 fixture, they knew 3 points would secure the title. The game started very tight, neither side creating many chances, set pieces seemed Wythenshawe’s only chance. Rand with the only notable chance from a set piece. Wythenshawe came out from half-time and created many more chances and Ash Woodhead broke the deadlock after 70 minutes and Town took complete control of the game, just 3 minutes later Ben Brooks made it 2-0 and Wythenshawe were cruising to the title. Ash Woodhead scored a screamer after 77 minutes to put the game beyond doubt and after 83 minutes Ben Brooks made it 4-0.
