HOW TO APPLY

(P.E.A.C.E)

The opportunity to live in the PEACE Community will prepare diverse students for success in the 21st century. This community is for residents to engage in their interest of exploring various cultures through hosted guest speakers, information sessions about study abroad and other cultural exchange opportunities, discussions on international issues, as well as participating in enrichment opportunities in Winston-Salem such as symphonies, ballets, festivals, and other events that highlight various cultures. 3 CHALLENGE YOURSELF! 3 BROADEN YOUR HORIZONS! 3 EMBRACE THE DIFFERENCES!

PARTICIPANTS OF PEACE WILL: 1. Explore various cultures different from their own. 2. Enhance awareness of cultural differences to be better equipped in interacting with diverse cultural populations 3. Identify conflicts, controversies and issues of inequality in a global context. 4. Debate and challenge cultural stereotypes.

MEMBERS OF PEACE ARE: Culturally Curious

Go to the housing website, www.wssu.edu/ housing, and click on Apply Here for P.E.A.C.E. and W.I.S.H. Theme Housing Options and follow directions. You will be asked a few simple questions. Please indicate your preferred roommate’s name. Both you and your roommate will be expected to participate fully in the PEACE community and both must submit an application. Selected students will participate in an expedited housing selection process. Applications must be received by March 21st. Space is limited!

LOCATION: PEACE will be in Gleason Hairston Terrace Hall. Students who are selected to participate in PEACE will be placed in their rooms before the regular room selection process.

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE: Culturally Engaged

Any rising Sophomore, Junior, and Senior who is interested in learning about different cultures.
