ANTEOS is the first rotary wing RPA (remotely piloted aircraft) to have obtained official permission to fly

ENEL, the main Italian electric utility and one of the most important in the world, started a study concerning remote monitoring of its own power plants through small RPA. The possibility to satisfy those needs is only partially matter of mere technology; on the contrary starting of use of small RPA in professional industrial contexts strictly requires an aeronautical approach. AERMATICA, the only one company having a permit to fly released by the Italian Civil Aviation Authority for small RPA, is performing an experimentation in an ENEL power plant, getting all

Ukrainian company displaying 'flying car' concept in Dubai A Ukrainian company that has built microlights and ultra-light aircraft has set its sights on the development of a 'flying car'. The 'Kiev Design Office of Light Aircraft' has built and flown a prototype of its electric-powered one-seat multi-rotor aircraft.

JANUARY 2013 museum and experience first hand the resources available literally on their doorstep.” said the Helicopter Museum's Sharon Webber. “Museum volunteers will be on hand to take attendees on a short tour of the museum and the aircraft in its collection from both a local and international historical and geographical point of view. Attendees can also experience what it is like to fly a helicopter on the Museums Flight Simulator and climb into a real helicopter cockpit and try the pilots helmet on for size. Both are actual activities available to visiting groups.” Those attending will also be shown the Museum's Classroom and Educational resources. Complimentary tea, coffee and mince pies will be available throughout the day.  More information visit – www.helicoptermuseum.co.uk

"The sustainability of the action and the high quality standard of the shelf were the determining factors. Without the Rega would Switzerland, something "missing, founded Jury President Henry Bieler's decision in favor of the Swiss air rescue service Rega. Addition had a positive image of the shelf and the exemplary corporate culture created the momentum, it is said in the eulogy at the Kongresshaus in Zurich. Ernst Kohler, CEO and Chairman of the Board participated with two employees accepted the award: "It's nice to see that the great commitment and dedication of our employees is perceived. Our mission is and will really easy. We want to be the best air rescue organization in the world - for the good of the patient,as a public service for Switzerland and our patrons." the relevant authorizations from the Civil Aviation Authority, to acquire data that represent the “proof of safety” of that application. The whole process has been defined, combining aeronautical rules with general safety rules on industrial working places, drowing up procedures, getting permit to fly, coordinating with plant safety responsible and, finally, performing flight tests in the target environment. This is the only one process capable to demonstrate how RPA can be useful in such a context strictly following safety constraints and therefore enabling the commercial use in the industrial applicative market. ANTEOS is the first rotary wing RPA (remotely piloted aircraft) to have obtained official permission to fly (Permit To Fly) issued in civil airspace and will be the first able to work in non segregated airspace. The authorization for civil applications is a mandatory and differentiating factor that enable the provision of insurance policies for aerial work. I More information visit - www.aermatica.com

“… As a goal, the FAA should ensure that the introduction of UAS into the NAS does not limit access to airspace or require modifications to the existing fleet of aircraft flying in the NAS beyond what is already currently anticipated to accommodate NextGen,” the associations said. “… FAA must aggressively protect its preeminent role as manager of the national airspace system.” While acknowledging the role UAS will play in the future of aviation, the associations also urged the FAA to avoid a singular focus on this one emerging sector. “It is important that the FAA ensure that the focus on UAS integration does not hinder agency progress on areas like certification of civil aircraft, repair stations, or operators, where delays are already too commonplace or program improvements are lagging.” I More information visit – www.rotor.com

has only flown unmanned under remote control, but the company plans to begin flight trials with a human pilot shortly. 'The results have been very promising,' said Aleksandr Drukar, a manager at the company speaking to Shephard at the Dubai Helishow. 'The prototype is very simple, made with an aluminium frame, but production aircraft will have a carbon structure and carbon body.' Drukar says the aircraft is fitted with 16 motors and 32 Lithium-Iron batteries. Currently the batteries give the machine a 15 minute endurance after a four-hour charge. The aircraft is also fitted with carbon-fibre blades in the rotor system.
