Dumont, a pioneer and influential mine owner. It was once an important stage coach stop known for ore stamping mills and smelting. Historic Dumont Schoolhouse

Charlie’s Place, 500 W. Dumont Road, is a modern animal shelter serving Clear Creek and Gilpin Counties. It provides food and a safe environment for abandoned, homeless, stray, and impounded dogs and cats. Animals are available for adoption during operating hours. Call 303679-2477 or visit charliesplaceshelter.org for details. HISTORIC DUMONT SCHOOLHOUSE The one-room Dumont Schoolhouse, 150 W. Dumont Road halfway in between Exits 234 To Downieville Mill Creek Dumont and 235, was built in 1909 and is now listed Exit 235 on the National Registry of Historic Sites. It is owned and maintained by the Mill Creek Clear Creek EXIT 235 Valley Historical Society.
