Loveland Ski Area has been Colorado’s “local mountain” for more than 75 years and offers a classic ski experience not found at large resorts. Situated high atop the Continental Divide, Loveland receives about 422 inches of snow each season, more than any resort in the Front Range or Summit County. Loveland has something for every age and ability. Loveland Basin, the main area, offers a wide variety of terrain including wide-open cruisers, trees, bumps and open bowls. For beginners, Loveland Valley offers a separate, non-intimidating learning area to work on techniques with its own lifts and gentle terrain. There is also a terrain park that is accessible to all ages and abilities, from entry level to advanced park-riders. Enjoy free snowcat skiing along the Continental Divide and explore some of Loveland’s most exhilarating terrain with a free ride on the Ridge Cat. Skiers and riders are required to have a valid season pass or lift ticket in addition to Ridge Cat Pass which can be picked up free at the Basin Ticket Office. Convenient, free parking is available at both Loveland Basin and Loveland Valley. A shuttle service to and from each area is also available every 5-10 minutes. Loveland Ski Area’s season began Oct. 30 and continues until early May. It is open Monday-Friday, 9 a.m.-4 p.m., and on weekends and holidays, 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m.

Arapahoe Basin, known as “The Legend” to many Coloradans, has one of the longest ski seasons in North America. Enjoy 360-degree views from the summit or lunch at Black Mountain Lodge while skiing some of the world’s best terrain. It offers a family-friendly, laidback atmosphere with free parking, one convenient base area and affordable lessons for kids and adults. Most facilities are located in the base area including kids’ snowsports lessons, dining areas, retail shop, administrative offices and adult ski school. Lessons are offered for skiers and snowboarders of every ability throughout the season. Both private and class lessons are available. A-Basin can be reached from Interstate 70 Exit 216 at Loveland Pass. Proceed west on U.S. 6 for 8 miles to their parking lots. When the pass is closed due to weather conditions, access is from I-70 Exit 205 at Silverthorne. No large vehicles, including RVs, towed trailers and charter buses, are permitted to park in lots without the advance permission. Arapahoe Basin’s season is Oct. 11-June 7 and is open daily. Lifts begin operating at 9 a.m. Monday-Friday and 8:30 a.m. on weekends and select holidays. Most run until 4 p.m. daily, but times vary for each area of the mountain.
