running heaven.” Half Moon Bay is also close to San Francisco, a major selling point for many. “We made our decision to race here in June,” said Victoria Ellerstad, from Sweden. “We run a lot back home.” Ellerstad and her husband, Nicklas, were on their honeymoon. “It’s nice to look at the scenery from the runner’s point of view,” he said. The scenery was also a selling point for Rick Myers of Topeka, Kan. His sister lives in Sacramento and indicated in the spring she might run in Half Moon Bay. “This is my first marathon,” he said. “If I am going to run a marathon, it’s going to be here. The scenery sold me.”
