Coastside benefited as well. The group helped with parking at the Half Moon Bay Airport. “We were like a business giving back to the community,” Vaughan said. The marathon also established and funded Just Run Half Moon Bay, under the license of the Big Sur International Marathon. Just Run is a year-round outreach to children, ages 4 to 12, inspiring them to get involved in athletics and adopt a healthy lifestyle. Vaughan said the Big Sur Marathon has become a bucket-list activity for all marathon runners. “That race takes place on the coast, with amazing scenery and amazing weather to run in,” Vaughan said. “Isn’t this what we have?
