Beary Gets a Vaccine

TEACHES

Hi! My name is Beary. I am at the doctor's office today for my check-up to make sure I am growing and staying healthy.

My doctor told me that I need to get something called a vaccine today.

A vaccine gives my body medicine to keep me from getting sick.

My nurse told me that they could give me my vaccine in my arm or leg. I chose one of my arms.

Then my nurse cleaned my arm with a cold, wet wipe to get rid of any germs on my skin.

My nurse gently squeezed the skin on my arm. It didn't hurt.

I felt a poke when my nurse gave me my vaccine. But that feeling went away fast. The bumble bee on my arm is Buzzy. He buzzed and tickled to help my poke hurt less.

My nurse wiped my arm with a soft, dry cloth and gave me a band-aid!

I felt a little scared to get my vaccine, but my grownup gave me a big hug and helped me to take big breaths. My nurse told me that I did a great job staying as still as a statue!
