Editor-In-Chief Ericka Ward

In this Issue:

Evangelist Ericka Ward EDITOR-IN-CHIEF “For Such A Time As This” , these words can mean many different things to many different people. For Esther it was the realization that she was chosen for a specific space in time to do a great work that “no one else” could do. God had positioned her strategically to be salvation to his people. Wow, how awesome to think that when God created us in this dispensation, that he did it all on purpose… with a plan in mind and you were the plan. Thought provoking and prayer stirring thought isn’t it? God chose me? Yes He did for this season and no one else can do what you do the way you do it, and God always expects a return on His investments in us. Many investments He has man through natural and spiritual gifts and abilities. He has even hidden somethings away inside of us for a specific time and season. Never give up , rather seek Him—while He may be found. Seek Him for the direction and the ability to do what He has given you to do. Don’t be afraid of failure, there will be many bumps along the road as you travel towards your destiny. But be certain that it ALL works together for your good and God will use it in the development of your purpose. It’s never too late to seek God for your divine assignment. Everyones’ is different, we all have a special assignment that is tailored to our personality, ability, inability…. Yes inability– the very thing you think you cannot do is often exactly what you were born to do– sounds crazy but there is many a testimony like Moses who stuttered but was called to be be Gods messenger to his children for generations to come… and the messages of Moses stand to this day because he obeyed and faced down his fears and inabilities… he trusted God… and God was able to use him. Let God use you, hear Him speak to the gift and calling inside of you today, Stir up the gift inside you– you were made “For Such A Time As This”. 2

The first Annual Women of Greatness Retreat & Conference is honored to present the biographical information of ladies and gentlemen from across the East Coast who made numerous sacrifices to “answer the call” of God to minister to the “Women of Greatness” in attendance at the National Conference Center in Lansdowne , Virginia. This event has been a faith venture from the beginning, God hand picked several women and men of God who heard his voice and said “yes”– not only did they say yes but they chose to attend this event and give of their time to be used of God. They were uniquely chosen to help bring great women to the threshold of, and into the fullness of their Divine Purpose. As you read through the information on the pages ahead , take note of them and their contributions to the body of Christ. Support their ministries, pass on their information to your pastors and churches so that they too can continue to enlarge their territory and reach many more “people” of greatness everywhere. We are excited to introduce this cadre of soldiers in the army of the Lord!! If you or someone you know is prepared to be a blessing during future events sponsored by Divine Concept Group™ we would love to hear from you. Worshipper. Servant. These are the two words that define the ministry of Kimberly Taylor. A gift to the body of Christ, Kimberly Taylor has yielded her life to God, and is used in several areas of ministry to advance the kingdom. Kimberly Taylor's formative years were shaped by her parents, Pastor Leon and First Lady Fannie Taylor, as she was raised in the Churches of God in Christ. Her parents trained her to be sensitive to the move of God in her life. They are credited with providing a solid foundation to the ministry that was later birthed in her. Her scriptural hope is found in Philippians 1:6 being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus. (NIV) Kimberly Taylor's formal education includes: an earned B.S. ('93) in Communication from James Madison University and an earned Master of Divinity ('98) from Howard University. At Howard University she distinguished herself with academic honors, earning the Benjamin E. Mays and Howard Thurman Scholarships and studying as a Ford Fellowship Scholar. It was during her years at Howard that she was able to merge biblical scholarship with the strong spiritual application that is her basic foundation. While securing her Master's Degree, she formally entered ministry in 1996 and has been active in ministry since that time. Minister of Worship, Youth Pastor, Executive Staff Member, and Ministerial Alliance Member, and Church Administrator are some of the positions that 8

she has held previously. She is formally licensed and ordained to serve the Lord’s Church, in addition to her educational attainments. Kimberly Taylor is a skilled and capable preacher, teacher and worship leader. As a worship leader, Kimberly Taylor leads the people of God directly into his presence. She is also a composer whose music is said to be prophetic and healing. God has allowed her to travel extensively to spread the gospel both through song and through the preached Gospel. Kimberly Taylor has also been used as a panelist, and presenter at seminars and conferences. Her messages are of hope, deliverance and the absolute power of God. They are relevant, relatable and reaching. She is passionate about prayer and intercession, God uses her spiritual giftings to bring about deliverance. While she serves the whole body of Christ, her passion lies in the contemporary concerns of women and youth. After ably serving various churches within the Metropolitan Washington DC area for 15 years, she has returned to her roots, and now serves alongside her father Elder Leon R. Taylor, Pastor of First Church of God In Christ, located in the Clifton Forge, Virginia. Her work there includes: overseeing the newly formed Young Adults Empowered to Serve (YES) Ministry and also serving as the Executive Director of the Family Life Center. These critical positions ensures that the ministry sustains momentum and advances the God-given vision of Pastor Taylor, and brings new souls into the kingdom, as well as serve the surrounding Shenandoah Valley Communities. In addition to those other duties she also serves as a faculty member at the National Bible College and Seminary in Fort Washington, MD, teaching New Testament Survey, The Gospels, and Spiritual Development, preparing others for their ministry assignments in an academic setting. Grateful for the opportunity to serve, it is her honor to serve God's people as opportunities present themselves. Finally, she looks forward to what else God has in store for her life, realizing that the very best is yet to come.

Karen Vaughan Palmer is an author, teacher, musician, conductor, and writer. A graduate of Hampton Institute (University), she is also a wife of Ramonn Palmer and a mother of two children—Mark Palmer and Lauren Palmer. In addition to this ―high calling,‖ she has served as a minister and worship leader and Christian performer in a local church in America and in Belgium as well. Karen prides herself in the prophetic call of God on her life and the many ways in which she uses her gifts, talents, and abilities to glorify the Lord both professionally, spiritually, and in the counsel and helping of others. She offers her abilities to help advance the kingdom of God through the incorporation of her love of musical direction as a teacher and conductor and singer, and in her counseling skills and training acquired in the Master of Human Service Counseling program at Regent University. By so doing, Karen has used music to help lift the oppression from the lives of her students and the church, through the teaching of uplifting choral music and the singing and writing of praise and worship music in the church. Born and raised by strong women—her mother Frances D. Vaughan, aunt Charlotte D. Pearson, and grandmothers, Nanneen G. Clark and Rosa C. Vaughan—Karen has a strong sense for the needs of women of all cultures and of all walks of life. The strengths and convictions of these four godly women helped to shape her attitude towards God, human beings, and the standards by which she conducts her life today. She feels that it is her upbringing that has been the catalyst for her desire to please God in the cofounding of a women's ministry.

As co-founder of the women's ministry, ―Woman 2 Woman Ministries,‖ her passion is to see women mobilized in the areas of all ministry gifting; thereby, creating a way in which they may be launched. ―Woman 2 Woman Ministries‖ creates this forum by calling women together tri-annually in homes, and encouraging godly relationships, prayer accountability, and mentoring relationships. Over the past five years, Karen has seen the Lord move in miraculous ways, with the results of those in attendance experiencing a sense of freedom and encouragement in their walk with the Lord and in the motivation to move forward in ministry. Additionally, it is her vision to see woman of God share their creative talents with others across America and world. Woman 2 Woman Ministries is a non-profit fellowship that not only provides such a forum for women, but has also been instrumental in outreach in South Africa and West Africa. In 2007, Woman 2 Woman Ministries meeting house-to-house, supplied clothing and toys to the children of a day care center in South Africa; additionally, sending monetary support, ministry resources, and clothing to the people of Kissumu, Kenya where Pastor George McOmwanda is pastor of a small church. It is the heart of God that women reach out to women in a positive manner, all over America and the world, and it is her vision to see this happen. As the author of her best seller titled, ―That I Might Please Him,‖ she shares personal insight, wisdom and revelation that help to navigate the reader through the many challenges of life. Ways in which she has experienced the counsel, direction and leading of the Holy Spirit, are shared along with the sharing of personal testimony, knowledge, wisdom and insight learned through personal experiences. Coupled with biblical truths, the reader is inspired by the unction of the Holy Spirit and by her personal insight gained through over 30 years of walking with the Lord. By integrating music and psychology, writing, directing, conducting, and orga-

nizing, Karen Vaughan Palmer reaches out to people of all ages; thus, encouraging them to fulfill the call of God on their personal lives, and to developing their own gifts and abilities. Karen Vaughan Palmer continues to carry the vision of seeing not only women mobilized, but also in seeing the Gospel of Jesus Christ reaching to all nations!

Karen shares on a final note the following ―Three Keys for the 2010 Season‖: 1. Remember who, and what place God is and has in our lives, and that He loves and cares about us and our families! 2. Remember that He is in control of all things especially, as we yield our all to Him! 3. Rejoice in the good and what we perceive is bad, for ultimately there is His reason for it all!

point when we didn't believe in ourselves. We certainly had faith and belief in God. But we had doubt in ourselves. We knew that we were called to ministry. However we also knew that we did not sound like the most popular Gospel singers and we didn't have much experience and knowledge in the Gospel industry. For years, we would perform with a sense of doubt and disbelief. Once we learned to embrace that what we had was enough our lives changed. We now minister with a belief not only in God, but in what God has given us. Your favorite scripture? Well, we have a few… These beautiful sisters are Stellar Award Nominated 5AM Praise., biological sisters Temera & Toy. Want to know more about this dynamic duo, Unveiled Purpose asks the questions you want to know about these powerful sisters.

John 14:12 -Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father. (KJV)

Where did you all start in music ministry? Our ministry began in 2003 in Los Angeles, CA.

Proverbs 8:17 -I love them that love me; and those that seek me early shall find me. (KJV)

How long have you been singing together? We are sisters, therefore we've shared the luxury of signing for fun around the house during our childhood as well as in the church choir. We've been signing professionally together for 7 years. Who are your musical mentors or favorite artists? Our favorite musical mentors is several members of our family such as our mother, husband and some dear friends in the industry. Our favorite artist is MaryMary, Vicki Winans and Yolanda Adams.

Philippians 4:13 -I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me. (KJV)

Anything else you want people to know about 5AM praise… We just would like to encourage everyone to truly trust in God, get a relationship with Him. Seek Him early and let Him direct your paths. What advise would you give to those who desire to branch out into the gospel music industry? We would advise the following:

    

Pray to God for guidance, making sure you know God's purpose for your ministry. Follow His lead and allow him to direct your path. Learn as much as you can about the music industry Prepare to make a spiritual commitment and a financial investment Create music that ministers to you, staying true to yourself Establish yourself in your local area by performing at local events

What is the most valuable life lesson that you have learned? Our most valuable life lesson that we have learned was just believing that we were enough. There was a 16

Then God said, "I give you every seedbearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food." - Genesis 1:29, Bible Wow! People are going crazy about this new health care bill. They are wondering what to do if they do not have health care, who will they go to for their next prescription, “what am I going to do now”? The fact of the matter is that we all need to take charge of our own bodies and start being proactive in our health and wellbeing. My name is Aletha Russell. I am the founder and editor of a newsletter publication called The Bitter Herb. I have been writing the publication for a little over eight years now. It started as a local newsletter for a local church that I was a part of and has since gone to many places in the U.S. and abroad. It was created not by me, but by the unction of the Holy Spirit. It was impressed on me that God’s people are dying not only to sin, but also due to poor health. I believe I heard the words “TAKE CHARGE OF YOUR DESTINY”, as I embarked upon the challenge of teaching people to take charge of their health. I began to pray because I felt that I was not the one who should be teaching others about natural healing, health and fitness. Although I had training as a certified nursing assistant and medical assistant, as well as being a certified fitness instructor, I was not comfortable in teaching others. I then heard these words “I WILL TEACH YOU TO TEACH OTHERS”. I immediately began to pray and fast about the new ad18

venture that God was taking me on. Over the past eight years, I have seen the Holy Spirit change lives and lifestyles of those who take part in reading the health publication. It is my desire to continue to educate people about the wonderful bodies that the Lord has given us. The bible tells us that we are fearfully and wonderfully made and that we were created in the image of the Lord. If that does not excite you, what will? It is time to wipe the slate clean and time to rethink how your body works. You may ask the question how much is it going to cost me? Guess what it is FREE of charge. There are no diet pills, no powders, now gimmicks. It is your willingness to want to change your lifestyle and see your body emerge into that beautiful creation that God intended it to be. Changes will not take place over night. Let us face it; most of our poor health habits did not take place over night so getting our bodies back in shape will not take place over night either. One thing to keep in mind is “You do not have to be sick”. Be Blessed. Amen! Aletha Russell was born in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania, she was born Aletha Julene Allen. She has been studying herbs, health and nutrition for over twenty years. She became interested in natural health and healing as an experiment back in high school. She has been teaching and leading others to healthier lifestyles by holding workshops, seminars, personal consultations and by creating a bi-monthly newsletter, called “The Bitter Herb” ,which is generated via email. Her philosophy is “You are fearfully and wonderfully made”. “Take charge of your health”.

Veronica Thomas There are an estimated 60 million reported cases of childhood sexual abuse in the US alone. And these are only reported cases. I am a Mother of 2 and Grandmother who survived childhood sexual abuse. I am a survivor who did not allow someone else's choice to ruin my life, and supersede my ability to succeed. I graduated from Hampton University with a Bachelor's Degree and will acquire my Master's Degree in Counseling from Norfolk State University in an effort to help others who have experienced sexual abuse. I am currently employed at The Newport News Department of Human Services. I also maintain a position as a committee member for the Community Food Drive with City Council Woman Sharon P. Scott. I also worked as a volunteer for the Organization CASA, (Court Appointed Special Advocate) who speaks on behalf of children of sexual abuse and neglect who are unable to speak for themselves. The initiative involves Powerful Voices for Powerless Children. I was a child when I was faced with the traumatic experience of sexual abuse. My survival inspired me to write an autobiography called VISIONS FROM THE PAST. Despite the fact of it being difficult for me to recall the unfortunate sexually abusive encounters of my past, a dear friend convinced me that there were others like me who shared my experiences and pain. Although it took years for me to build the courage to write my story, I did. The refusal to remain silent freed me from the shames of the past. Now, through our Non-Profit Organiza-

tion S.N.V., Inc. (Survivors Not Victims), I’m in a position to help and assist those who have experienced this great sin of sexual impropriety which has caused so much harm in our communities. Going through life’s trials, through God I learned that with Shame; there is no shame in something that was out of my control, with Guilt; there is no Guilt for the atrocity that was forced upon me and with Fault; I was not at fault for the actions of others. Learning that I was a strong individual that could beat all odds, sharing my story so that others would know they were not alone and accepting that God had given me strength to survive all that I had experienced, that I realized I had a choice to either remain a victim of my abuse or become a survivor. I understood that I could not allow my past to deter, break or prevent me from being the successful individual that God meant for me and all survivors to be; I am a survivor and not a Victim. Being a survivor of Sexual Abuse, I want other survivors like myself to realize that there is life and success after such a traumatic experience. I was a child when my sexual abuse occurred and writing my book was the most difficult thing I had ever done in my life. However, being Survivors, we face difficulties in life that others would not understand; overcoming fears, jumping over hurdles or just taking the next step. “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind.” 2 Timothy 1:7. I do not want to see another child go through what I went through as a child; something so horrific and atrocious that no child should ever have to experience. Sexual Assault is wrong; not the people who were victims of it. It took many years to understand I was not the one at fault. What's key here, is for those who have been affected by sexual abuse to do something about it, and that's what S.N.V., Inc. is all about. This organization is a beacon of hope for those who seek to survive and overcome the effects of sexual abuse. All those who are victims of sexual abuse, join me in becoming a SURVIVOR, because God gave us the strength, the power and the choice to do so. Faith and a desire is all we need.

This is the declaration from the voice of His prophetic scribe as found from His HOLY WORD Hear the Declarations and Decree from the Sovereign Ruler: The Great IAM as He pronounces from His Throne! King James Bible Song of Solomon 3:9 King Solomon made himself a chariot of the wood of Lebanon. 1 Samuel 2:35 And I will raise me up a faithful priest, that shall do according to that which is in mine heart and in my mind: and I will build him a surehouse; and he shall walk before mine anointed for ever. “For Such a Time as This” His HOLY ONE The Sovereign ruler of all nations and land has brought forth His Messengers to proclaim His Edicts. He has keenly crafted them from His skillful fingers to become His representation here on earth as it is in heaven. As the King’s trumpet pronounces the call to action:

Hear Ye Hear Ye My people who are called by My name who have humbled themselves and who beseech me with a fire of fervency will have an audience today. I will grant them their petitions because they have respected my throne and honored me with their whole lives of obedient service. This day will My word come forth upon my specially designed chariot and My Majesty will be seen. A call for My Army to be on guard positioned for active service and entrance onto the battleground. My instructions are encoded on the wings of the Eagles flight. Those who have a posture of expectancy and faithful action will decipher My orders and carry them out immediately with NO DELAY! Seek My emblem & know the revelation follows. Hear My prophet and so shall your lands be healed, blessed, delivered and promoted! This is My Declaration. As it is written so it is for all ages to come!

And hunger dances The sick heart of humanity and the uncontrolled men's mind whirling indifferent to the crying of the hungry Africans. The ears of the powerful are deaf to the suffering of the children of anyone. The sun rises, but the food does not arrive among the dunes of the desert. And hunger dances. While their souls fluctuate between the arms of the angels of death, we sail in the sea of indifference. And hunger dances. The eyes of the powerful do not want to see the hunger dancing in children’s empty bellies undernourished. The sun rises, but the food does not arrive among the dunes of the desert. And hunger dances. Our tables are filled with abundance while Africans are dying in silence because of human’s 'insensibility watered of selfishness. And hunger dances.
