3/2, 6PM 10.1

Welcome from Debbie Hamlett

Did you know we have movie night every Saturday at 8PM on Channel 36?

Grab your popcorn, sit back and enjoy AKEELAH AND THE BEE, MAN IN THE MOON, THE PRIDE OF THE YANKEES, and SCHOOL OF ROCK. (check listings for dates)

You can choose from thousands of programs to stream anytime you’d like when you have Passport. It’s a member benefit at the $60 dollar level or higher. Catch up on episodes of your favorite programs like AMERICAN EXPERIENCE, AMERICAN MASTERS, ANTIQUES ROADSHOW, NATURE, NOVA, or MASTERPIECE. CALL THE MIDWIFE season 13 will be in Passport before you can see it on broadcast.

Here are just a few of the new specials you’ll see this month on Channels 10 and 36: CAROLE KING AND JAMES TAYLOR: JUST CALL OUT MY NAME, ROCK, POP AND DOO WOP, FREDDIE MERCURY: THE TRIBUTE CONCERT, and EPIC TRAIN JOURNEYS FROM ABOVE.

March is one of our largest fundraising months. Maybe you’ve wondered why we conduct membership drives. It’s the most effective and efficient way to attract new viewers and supporters. Special programs are produced specifically to raise awareness and to explain the importance of public support. When you see these appeals, remember we’re talking to those who haven’t made a pledge of support. There are almost 40,000 individuals along with local businesses who make up 65% of our budget.

On the CREATE channel, don’t miss OPA! LIFE OF LOI: MEDITERRANEAN SECRETS. Chef Maria Loi serves up the secrets to authentic Mediterranean cuisine and Greek history on a culinary tour of her home country. And REAL ADVENTURES will take you on breathtaking tours of Switzerland and Liechtenstein by rail and road.

Thank you for investing in this important and essential service. We absolutely could not provide all of the educational programs across four channels without your support!

with appreciation,

Milwaukee PBS offers a wide variety of programs for a person who has many interests. An educator by training, Martha spent 15 years working in human resources before finding her calling as the Chief Racial Justice Officer with the YWCA. Her racial justice career unfolded as more and more people of the global majority shared their stories and lives with her.

Martha Barry has led a multi-dimensional life which might be why she is a Milwaukee PBS supporter

“I began looking at my life and how much I wanted to build a world that was human-based – not limited by our individual flaws, but one that illustrates how deeply connected we are within and beyond our own “group,” Martha said. “My life has been deeply changed by finding my passion for racial justice and racial equity. I have committed to living a life of authenticity, compassion, and caring.”

Retired now, Martha said she is still finding ways to contribute to the world. One way she is making a difference is by supporting Milwaukee PBS. “I love contributing to robust local programming, especially PBS, which is able to highlight many stories I wouldn’t

Jotherwise know or learn about,” she said. “I believe in the media as a means of informing people of issues, concerns, and civic engagement. I think our democracy requires strong media.”

Martha enjoys local programs including

BLACK NOUVEAU and JOHN MCGIVERN’S MAIN STREETS. Other programs on her watch list include DOC MARTIN and CALL THE MIDWIFE.

“Thank you (Milwaukee PBS) for caring. For finding stories worth telling. For investing in journalists and people who take the time to investigate and tell Milwaukee stories. You are gems,” she said.

oin Milwaukee PBS and Transcendent Travel for a behind-the-scenes tour of England, taking you to the sights associated with many of your favorite programs including Highclere Castle, the Poldark House in the Cotswolds, Bletchley Park as well as the picturesque villages used in the VICAR OF DIBLEY, MIDSOMER MURDERS and other classic programs.

The world is full of possibilities and so are you.

Parenting Hacks That Help Children Become Problem Solvers!

LYLA IN THE LOOP is a treasure trove of hacks and lessons for parents, particularly when it comes to working through problems kids and families face in daily life.

If you’re overwhelmed, break it down. Breaking problems down into smaller steps to make them more manageable is a skill the Loops use often. For example, in “Operation Rise and Shine Lyla and her siblings work together to figure out how they can get ready for school quickly so that they don’t miss the bus. They examine their morning routine and break down the steps so they can figure out which steps they have the most trouble with. As parents, we can do this, too! Tackle a household project by breaking it down into smaller daily or weekly projects.
