SECTION X CAMPUS LIFE - CLUBS & SOCIETIES Rights and Responsibilities of Student Organizations 1. The UCC is committed to the belief that individuals have the right and privilege to organize and participate in groups whose purposes center around the interests and goals of individual, professional, community and corporate advancement. Though student organizations are able to function on campus and enhance campus life, neither the Office of Student Affairs nor University College of the Caribbean assumes responsibility for organizations. UCC does not assume financial responsibility for organizations, nor extend insurance coverage to its members. 2. A registered student organization and its members are responsible for conducting its affairs in a responsible manner consistent with the policies and procedures of the “University College of the Caribbean Code of Conduct” and local laws. Registered student organizations will be held accountable for the action and behaviour of their members or guests at their functions. 3. All registered student organizations are required to have an advisor. The responsibilities of the advisor are designated by the student organization itself, but often take the form of: • Attending meetings and events • Providing information on policies and procedures • Co-signing all transactions • Providing guidance and ideas upon request 4.

Events Requiring Approval: Organizations are encouraged to organize programs and events at the UCC. The following types of events need to receive approval in advance: o Commercial activities o Concerts o Films o Marches o Outdoor and other major events o Rallies and demonstrations o Student social events o Sporting activities outside of those formally organised

5. Fund Raising • Student organizations are permitted to sponsor fund raising activities. Only recognized and registered student organizations may sponsor a fund raising activity on campus and/or using university resources.
