Social Entrepreneurship

The Master of Business Administration with a General Management (GM) specialisation is an excellent way of advancing professional careers or entrepreneurial development. If you are currently employed or engaged in your own enterprise and seeking opportunities to grow your organisation or to advance your career then this programme is for you. This degree provides you with the training in a wide variety of business disciplines that organisations look for in managers or serve critically to enhance your performance as an entrepreneur.

The Caribbean region is confronted with an increasing intensity of natural disasters and the consequences are increasingly being experienced among businesses, communities and the wider society. Hence it is becoming more appreciated that the survival of economies in Jamaica and the Caribbean will largely depend on the acknowledgement of the mutual responsibility of government, businesses and civil society, to confront the threats associated with natural, as well as man-made hazards.

Social Entrepreneurship (SE) demonstrates that social development and profit making are not mutually exclusive; individuals and businesses are able to create and sustain income generation opportunities and activities by helping others to do the same. Further, SE is the application of business strategies to resolve complex social and economic challenges.

What is the MBA?

Generally speaking the Master of Business Administration prepares persons to successfully lead and manage organisations and businesses in fast-changing local, regional and global contexts. The programme is designed to: 1 2. 3. 4. 5. 6.

Disaster Management (DM) is a key issue for the private business community as well as public agencies and institutions.
