Cinderella Music by Prokofiev

www.royalcentre-nottingham.co.uk

New Adventures’ new production of Cinderella is a thrilling and evocative journey through London during the Second World War. Matthew Bourne’s interpretation of Prokofiev’s haunting score has, at its heart, a true wartime romance. A chance meeting results in a magical night for Cinderella and her dashing young RAF pilot, together just long enough to fall in love before being parted by the horrors of the Blitz. Cinderella is both a tribute and a testament to the spirit of London during a time when every second counted and lives were changed forever. Bourne’s vivid storytelling has never been more heartstopping and touching, creating a unique and unforgettable depiction of a familiar and beloved fable.

Carmen

The Merry Widow

The Portrait

Carmen, the ultimate femme fatale, is at the centre of Bizet’s fiery and passionate opera, a heady mix of sex and death in which every tune is a hit. Mezzo-soprano Heather Shipp sings the title role in a work that outraged its first night audience in Paris back in 1875, yet which has gone on to become one of the world’s most popular operas.

An exuberant evening of fun and romance with glorious music, sumptuous period costumes and dazzling dancing.

This new production, set in 1905, infuses Parisian sensuality with Viennese sophistication as the young, beautiful and exceptionally wealthy widow, Hanna Glawari seeks a new husband who will love her for herself and not her fortune.

Weinberg

Chartkov, a poor but talented artist, acquires a painting in a Petersburg art shop that exerts a diabolical influence over his life, granting him wealth and success, but at the cost of his artistic soul.

With a glittering cast and creative team, this timeless classic will be a treat.

From a fantastical story by Gogol, the Polish composer Weinberg (who was both influenced and championed by Shostakovich), fashions a powerful opera that emerges as a tale for our times.

Access Performances

Physical Access Wheelchair spaces are located in the Stalls of both the Theatre Royal and Royal Concert Hall. If it is desired, or necessary, patrons may advise us of type of impairment and the size of the wheelchair (if applicable). Scooters and larger size wheelchairs may require an allocation of two ‘standard’ size wheelchair spaces. Please discuss your requirements when booking. As part of the ongoing refurbishment works, two additional wheelchair spaces and a disabled toilet have been created on Tier 1 of the Royal Concert Hall. There is a lift in the Royal Concert Hall that services all levels. Currently we have no lift facility in the Theatre Royal. However, in 2010 we are focusing our attentions on the Theatre Royal and investigating the possibility of a lift.
