Fees & Family Arts Festival/Family Open Day

Following a review of our booking fees we have revised our charges and made it clearer and more transparent for you, our customers, to make decisions when booking tickets. The policy came into effect from 1 July 2013. The majority of our ticket income is passed directly back to the producers of the shows, so we have chosen to charge a small administration fee which is retained by the Theatre Royal and Royal Concert Hall as we do not have the ability to include these costs within our current pricing structure. This small charge helps us to continue to offer a box office facility rather than having to refer customers through to external booking agencies where the fees are much higher.

Gustav von Aschenbach, a novelist in crisis, leaves Munich for Venice in search of fresh inspiration. Aschenbach is captivated by the beauty of both the place and Polish boy Tadzio. This concert is an electro-orchestral reinterpretation of one of the UK’s most influential bands, Joy Division, and is a unique audio-visual collaboration between electronic music pioneer Scanner, the Heritage Orchestra, and visual artist Matt Watkins. The concert is a dismantling of Joy Division’s visual and musical motifs paying homage to the spirit that defined the group as one of the world’s most progressive ‘art’ bands.

Russian Patriarchate Choir

Founded by Anatoly Grindenko in 1983, The Russian Patriarchate Choir of Moscow consists of 12 members, including Grindenko. As well as performing both in Russia and internationally, the singers are dedicated scholars of the repertoire for male voices who led the way in the rediscovery of Orthodox Church music in the late years of the Soviet regime. At this time – when this music was far from approved by the government – the choir spent years decoding ancient manuscripts and giving the first performances of works that had lain in obscurity for centuries. The Restaurant at the Theatre Royal offers an elegant and intimate dining experience for both Royal Concert Hall and Theatre Royal customers. Perfectly placed on the Theatre’s Dress Circle level, we are privileged to be the only Restaurant which can offer you the choice to return to your table at the interval to enjoy your dessert and coffee or simply to finish your wine. Our award-winning catering partners, Kudos, devise a regularly changing seasonal menu for The Restaurant, complemented by a carefully selected wine list. Each freshly made dish is created using only the best of ingredients and, wherever possible, locally sourced produce.

The Restaurant is open two hours before evening and weekend matinee performances. The Restaurant is open for High Tea only on midweek matinee performances.

The Green Room café bar

Situated on the Theatre Royal’s ground floor level, The Green Room café bar is the perfect place to meet for great value bar meals and light bites and to enjoy a pre-show or interval drink.
