Remember that amazing show? When you laughed until your sides hurt, when you were moved to tears by that incredible violin solo, or when you screamed yourself hoarse at the hottest pop band ever? Since Elton John opened the Royal Concert Hall in superstar style on 27 November 1982, over five million people have come through our doors experiencing the most incredible live performances, from every genre of music, dance and comedy.

The Big Red Seat Appeal aims to raise enough funds to replace all 2,499 seats in the Royal Concert Hall auditorium. The cost to replace each seat is £300 giving us a fundraising target of £749,700. Nottingham City Council has pledged to match-fund all donations so every £1 you give becomes £2! So now we need to ask for your generous support to help us reach our target. As much or as little as you give, every donation will be essential to us in reaching our goal, and every single penny of your donation will go direct to The Big Red Seat Appeal Fund. You can donate in the following ways: • Make a donation or add a contribution to your next ticket purchase • Online at www.trch.co.uk • On the phone at 0115 989 5555 • At our Box Office • Complete the donation form • Contribute to our bucket collections at each performance

Every individual, group or business that contributes £300 or more will be celebrated for the next 30 years with a Big Red Seat Appeal commemorative plaque on a seat in the auditorium. Thank you! Your support of The Big Red Seat Appeal is instrumental in kick-starting this new and exciting period of development for the Royal Concert Hall.

Direct from the West End

From the writer of Father Ted, Graham Linehan, comes a hilarious and thrilling new adaptation of the celebrated Ealing comedy The Ladykillers, directed by Sean Foley (The Play What I Wrote). Starring Michele Dotrice (Some Mothers Do ‘Ave ‘Em), Shaun Williamson (Extras, EastEnders) and Clive Mantle (Casualty, The Vicar of Dibley). The Ladykillers is a classic black comedy; a sweet little old lady, alone in her house, is pitted against a gang of criminal misfits who will stop at nothing… Posing as amateur musicians, Professor Marcus and his gang rent rooms in the lopsided house of sweet but strict Mrs Wilberforce. The villains plot to involve her unwittingly in Marcus’ brilliantly conceived heist job. The police are left stumped, but Mrs Wilberforce becomes wise to their ruse and Marcus concludes that there is only one way to keep the old lady quiet. With only her parrot, General Gordon, to help her, Mrs W. is alone with five desperate men. But who will be forced to face the music? ‘HHHHH Perfection’ The Times ns atio ce min n

‘Tis Pity She’s A Whore by John Ford

Following the success of their 2011 visit with Three Sisters, Cheek by Jowl returns to the Theatre Royal with Declan Donnellan and Nick Ormerod’s critically acclaimed ‘Tis Pity She’s A Whore.

www.trch.co.uk

This vivid and violent Jacobean tragedy shows a brother and sister’s passionate descent into hell. Incest, religion and corrupt morality collide in this ‘sexy, stylish’ production (The Times), making this play as shocking and controversial today as it was almost four hundred years ago. Cheek by Jowl has established an international reputation for bringing ‘fresh life to the classics using intense, vivid performances like a laser of light to set the text ablaze’ (The Guardian). The company has toured to over 300 cities in 40 countries and is an Artistic Associate at the Barbican, London.

Gounod

The aging scholar Faust longs for a life that he never had; one of love, sensual pleasures and happiness. Méphistophélès can offer him a second chance, but only in exchange for his soul. In turn, innocent Marguerite falls victim to this diabolical pact when Faust seduces her – with fatal consequences. But while there is hope of redemption for Marguerite, for Faust there is none. This is a tale for our times brought to life in a stunning multimedia production. The grandest of French opera, Gounod’s passionate music has made Faust popular with audiences worldwide. Conductor: Stuart Stratford Director: Ran Arthur Braun & Rob Kearley

Sung in French with English titles Lasts approximately 3 hours

Mozart

Don Giovanni lies and seduces his way around Europe, but he leaves behind him a wake of revenge-thirsty men and women intent on bringing about his downfall. On a self-destructive, hedonistic path, Mozart’s infamous anti-hero seals his own fate. Filled with dark humour, powerful drama and stunning music, this is one of Mozart’s best loved and most gripping creations.

Opera North’s first Don Giovanni for seven years sees the return of critically acclaimed director Alessandro Talevi and set and costume designer Madeleine Boyd who worked together on the ‘electrifying’ (The Telegraph) 5 star production of Britten’s The Turn of the Screw in 2010. Conductor: Tobias Ringborg Director: Alessandro Talevi

Sung in Italian with English titles Lasts approximately 3 hours 16

Janácˇek

New Production

Would you wish for immortality even if your endless life was one without love? This is the decision that beautiful opera diva Emilia Marty must make. Men inexplicably fall at her feet and, strangely eager to possess an arcane document hidden in a lost will, she coldly uses them to discover its whereabouts.

Janácˇek’s penultimate opera is both a mystery thriller and a reflection on eternity and desire. With a top quality cast and creative team, this beautiful production promises to enthral and inspire. Conductor: Richard Farnes Director: Tom Cairns

Sung in English with titles Lasts approximately 2 hours
