Nutcracker! follows Clara’s bittersweet journey from a hilariously bleak Christmas Eve at Dr. Dross’ Orphanage, through a shimmering, ice-skating winter wonderland to the scrumptious candy kingdom of Sweetieland. Tchaikovsky’s glorious score and Anthony Ward’s unforgettable sets and costumes combine with sizzling choreography to create a fresh and charmingly irreverent interpretation of the traditional favourite.

Connie Fisher (The Sound of Music, winner of the BBC’s How Do You Solve A Problem Like Maria) and double Olivier Award nominee Michael Xavier (Love Story, The Phantom of the Opera) star in the multi award-winning musical comedy, Wonderful Town.

Featuring a superb score by legendary American composer Leonard Bernstein (West Side Story), the show has received countless awards since its premiere in 1953 including the prestigious Tony Award for Best Musical. Connie plays aspiring writer Ruth Sherwood who arrives in New York City fresh from Ohio with her beautiful sister Eileen, played by Lucy Van Gasse. Bursting with dreams of romance, riches and perhaps a free lunch at Walgreen’s deli, the indomitable pair meet an array of colourful characters in their search for success, causing chaos and delight at every turn. After nearly five years of mischief, bad behaviour and political incorrectness, London’s funniest show by far is hitting the road. The Tony Award-winning Avenue Q is the irresistibly charming musical about the lovably hopeless characters on a downtown New York street trying to make sense of life’s burning issues: love, work, relationships and, above all, just how are you supposed to pay the bills with a BA in English? Hilarious and uproariously entertaining, with a terrific batch of songs performed by a cast of hugely talented performers and puppets, Avenue Q is a musical like no other. So don’t let your life suck – book your tickets today!

‘THE FUNNIEST THING I’VE EVER SEEN’ Kiss FM ‘ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT. WE NEARLY DIED LAUGHING’ Absolute Radio Avenue Q contains colourful language and themes of an adult nature. We strongly advise that you use your discretion based on the maturity level of your teenagers.

André de Ridder’s final concert in Nottingham as sinfonia ViVA’s Principal Conductor warrants a special programme, starting with Handel’s celebratory anthem, Zadok the Priest. Another Baroque giant provides the concerto, with Bach’s Second Violin Concerto performed by German violinist Antje Weithaas. Beethoven’s revolutionary 3rd Symphony, the ‘Eroica’ provides a suitably seismic finale.

Nederlands Dans Theater 2 With their winning combination of youthful exuberance and athleticism, NDT2 have wowed audiences in the UK for over a decade.

Box Office: 0115 989 5555

www.trch.co.uk

Hundreds of young dancers from around the world audition to join NDT2, the springboard for NDT1, but only a very few are chosen. The current group of 16 hail from around the globe: Russia, China, UK, Taiwan, America and Spain to name a few. None of the dancers is older than 23 yet they fill the stage with feats of virtuosity using their young bodies in beautiful ways, expressing emotions and feelings way beyond their years and experience. The company will perform a range of pieces which uniquely reflect their strengths and abilities. Sleepless (choreography by Jiri Kylian) sometimes very funny, while at other times painfully moving; Déjà vu and Solo two witty, silly and very fast pieces by Hans van Manen, and Ohad Naharin’s show-stopping Minus 16 described by the London Evening Standard as ‘hilarious, dangerous, utterly cheeky and a wild climax’.

Physical Access Wheelchair spaces are located in the Stalls of both the Theatre Royal and Royal Concert Hall. If it is desired, or necessary, patrons may advise us of type of impairment and the size of the wheelchair (if applicable). Scooters and larger size wheelchairs may require an allocation of two ‘standard’ size wheelchair spaces. Please discuss your requirements when booking. As part of the ongoing refurbishment works, two additional wheelchair spaces and a disabled toilet have been created on Tier 1 of the Royal Concert Hall. There is a lift in the Royal Concert Hall that services all levels. Currently we have no lift facility in the Theatre Royal.
