AN EXHILARATING THEATRICAL EXPERIENCE FOR REBELS AND ADOLESCENTS OF ALL AGES! Set in London and Brighton at the height of the Mod era, QUADROPHENIA is told through the eyes of Jimmy, a hedonistic style conscious teenager searching for a place to belong and a girl to love. Misunderstood by his parents and stuck in a dead end job, he sets off on a trip to Brighton that will change his life forever. This compelling coming of age story is brought to life in this original stage adaptation of the legendary album. The evocative world of sixties Britain provides a colourful backdrop to Jimmy’s journey. Pete Townshend’s stunning score pulsates with life and brilliantly captures the excitement of a nation on the brink of change. The album Quadrophenia was released by The Who in 1973 followed by the iconic film in 1979. Rolling Stone magazine and VH1 have named it one of the 100 Greatest Albums of all Time.

Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s extraordinary musical Evita features some of the biggest hit songs ever written, including Don’t Cry For Me Argentina, On This Night of a Thousand Stars, Another Suitcase in Another Hall, Oh What A Circus, You Must Love Me and many more. West End star Rachael Wooding plays the role of the extraordinary Eva Peron, wife of former Argentine dictator Juan Peron, who, from young and ambitious beginnings, gained enormous wealth and power during her ultimate rise to ‘sainthood’. Rachael’s West End musical-theatre credits include Hairspray, We Will Rock You, and Saturday Night Fever while her national tour credits include Footloose, Starlight Express and Cats. Joining Rachael in the role of Ché is Seamus Cullen (finalist from BBC TV’s Any Dream Will Do), and Mark Heenehan (film credits including The Road to Damascus, Spy Game and Thunderpants). With more than 20 major awards to its credit, including the Oscar winning film version starring Madonna and Antonio Banderas, and featuring one of the most coveted roles in musical theatre, this brand new production of the smash-hit show truly promises to be the theatrical event of the year!

WINNER OF 19 MAJOR AWARDS For the first time ever on stage, Henry takes his rightful place in the spotlight along with Mum, Dad, Perfect Peter, Moody Margaret, Rude Ralph and all your favourite characters. Only they’re not going to be in the spotlight, of course, not if Henry’s got anything to do with it. And Henry’s even got John Godber, author of Bouncers, Up ‘n’ Under, and Teechers and many other great plays, to help make this be an occasion not to be missed! Unless, that is, you’re a vegetable-eating, homework-loving, smelly-nappy baby in which case, you should stay at home! Following the Agatha Christie Theatre Company’s hugely successful productions of The Hollow, The Unexpected Guest, and most recently, And Then There Were None, the fourth instalment in the highly acclaimed series promises to be the most intriguing and entertaining yet. When Clarissa discovers a dead body in her drawing room, she tries to dispose of it before her Foreign Office diplomat husband returns home with a government VIP guest in tow. Incumbent however of an over-active imagination, Clarissa finds real life murder a little too hard to handle, and having persuaded her houseguests to help, it soon becomes apparent that the dead man was not unknown to everyone amongst them. Presented by the official Agatha Christie Theatre Company, the all-star cast features Denis Lill (The Royal, Survivors, Outside Edge), Melanie Gutteridge (The Bill), Catherine Shipton (Casualty), Ben Nealon (Soldier Soldier), Bruce Montague and Mark Wynter.

Giuseppe Verdi Wednesday 17 June 7.15pm Saturday 20 June 7.15pm

Don Carlos is Verdi’s most ambitious work and a towering masterpiece. Set in France and Spain in the 16th century, it demonstrates how love, loyalty and friendship are liable to be crushed by the harsh imperatives of political power. Verdi’s overwhelming score is rich in colour and emotionally compelling, combining grandeur with intimacy. Opera North’s visually sumptuous production is itself a classic.

When little orphan Sophie is snatched out of her bed in the dead of night by the BFG she fears the worst. His grisly neighbours the Bloodbottler and the Fleshlumpeater like nothing more than swalloping human beans, especially nice little chiddles, but the Big Friendly Giant is a dream maker and not a man-eater and he’s about to take Sophie on a journey she never expected! • If it is desired or necessary, patrons may advise us of type of impairment and the size of wheelchair (if applicable). Only 12 ‘standard’ size wheelchairs can be accommodated in Royal Concert Hall, and 7 ‘standard’ size wheelchairs in the Theatre Royal. Scooters and larger size wheelchairs may require an allocation of two ‘standard’ size wheelchair spaces. Wheelchair and scooter users should discuss their requirements upon booking so that we are able to make visits as comfortable as possible.

On most occasions, touch tours are organised prior to Audio Described Performances. Touch tours allow visually impaired people a unique opportunity to go onto the stage and explore the sets, costumes and props before the performance begins, giving a better idea of the stage layout. You may even get the chance to meet some of the cast!
